July 12, 200520 yr Yup, he does quite well too. Not your usual sword-wielding hero, our Val. Neither Kilmer or Cruise were very famous when these films were made, it's good to see them before ego took over.
July 12, 200520 yr No, I thought they were pretty good comic-to-film adaptions. I think Fantastic Four is going to be cack though.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>I went to see Sin City this weekend. Dude, talk about good comic-to-film adaption. Almost pic-by-pic and word-by-word.Of course, that's the main draw-back too. Nothing new for the faithful readers. I also share your your fears regarding FF, judging from the trailer. Also, I got Daredevil "Dir's cut", which I found rather good.
July 12, 200520 yr Did they include transition and choesion in the director's cut? Because there wasn't any in the theatrical release. And yes, Sin City doth rule mightily.
July 12, 200520 yr Pretty much all of Frank Miller's stuff is worth a look, but Sin City is his best.
July 13, 200520 yr I'd watch Iron Man if they ever made it. I heard of plans for an Iron Man movie that got scrapped very very early on.
July 13, 200520 yr Isn't he invincible? Anyone looking forward to this remake? And I hear Clint Eastwood, actor-turned-director extraordinaire, is going to make a WWII film, called 'Flags of our Fathers'. Let's hope it's better than Pearl frigging Harbour.
July 13, 200520 yr Did they include transition and choesion in the director's cut? Because there wasn't any in the theatrical release.I haven't seen the theatrical release but the DC of DD (don't you love abbrevasions?) is prolonged by some half hour and I didn't felt like they missed any transitions. Please define choesion. About King-Kong remake; Naah. Catch it on the tube when it comes on. Guess this is kinda wrong thrread for me.I've seen Sin City and A Very Long Engagement so now I have nothing to look forward to.
July 13, 200520 yr Well, I'd like to know why Matt Murdock became DareDevil, for instance. That's never explained, in the TR release, anyway.
July 13, 200520 yr Well, his father (The Devil) wouldn't lose a fight when his old boss told him to, so he was beaten to death by thugs and died in the arms of his son, who then took it upon his little shoulders to stand up for the little man from Hells Kitchen since nobody else done it. And of course fine-tuning his acrobatic reflexes bouncing around the rooftops with his "sonar-sense". Enough for me.
July 13, 200520 yr You mean, his father the drunk who obeyed the mob boss when he felt like it? Not what you'd call a strong role model, really.
July 14, 200520 yr Yeah, the very same. He sharpens up after he scared his son blind and starts to win a few matches, bonding anew with his son.
July 14, 200520 yr Don't recall that in the TR. Glad to see it improved. I'm a sucker for Asian cinema, so I'll mourn the remake of Dark Water and find me a copy of Twilight Samurai and watch that instead. I love samurai films.
July 16, 200520 yr Fingers crossed, Ultraviolet should be good. From the director of Equilibrium, we get a tale of a world riven by civil war, and it's humans versus vampires in the near future. I also hope Cursed, a werewolf film from veteran Wes Craven (yes, he's had his fair share of duds, let's be nice), will be enjoyable, if not excellent. Recently discovered a film of Hayao Miyazaki's (sort of the Japanese Walt Disney, but better) that sounds brilliant, Nausicaa. I've seen most of his films, but somehow missed this one. Can't wait to find it on DVD somewhere. Same for Howl's Moving Castle, which won't be out for a while, though. Oh, I was vaguely interested in The Island before I saw a trailer for it which gave away the WHOLE plot. Nice going, arseholes. Still, it was only a Michael Bay film anyway.
July 17, 200520 yr Author Ultraviolet sounds interesting! Thanks for the link The Island sounds like a Lost wannabe. I look forwards to Saw II. The first one was REALLY disturbing, and great!
July 17, 200520 yr Okay, just got word of a new movie I wanna see. If Spielberg can deliver, that is. Check this article. Doesn't take a genius to tell you it's gonna be CGI heavy.
July 17, 200520 yr I'm sorry to say, that looks as if it's going to be shite. Perhaps if Shpielberg was directing, but Michael "Explosions R0x0r" Bay will scupper it.
July 17, 200520 yr I hear the Japanese have a Transformers film in the works. It's anime, though, not live.
July 17, 200520 yr Author Well, Michael Bay does have a few good ones. I like both The Rock and Bad Boys.
July 17, 200520 yr Yes, and then there's Pearl Harbour. And Armageddon. Both more than slightly hysterical (no, not the funny hysterical, the other kind). And all credit to Bad Boys and the Rock, they didn't break any moulds. Strictly by the numbers. Someone give Tea Leoni a cough sweet.
July 17, 200520 yr Author Sometimes I don't understand a word of what you're writing. Could you rewrite the last line in a "English for dummies" way? But yeah, Armageddon wasn't too good, and I didn't even bother watching Pearl Harbour. Gave me a "Titanic in WWII" feeling seeing the add for it... (haven't seen Titanic either)
July 17, 200520 yr Tea Leoni? The woman in Bad Boys? Voice like someone gargling razor blades and petrol?Sorry, that was a bit of a tangent.
