  • Well, as I mentioned in the review thread I think Hollywood produce a lot of *censored* movies these days. I have more or less lost faith completely. I did however stumble over the trailer to a movie

  • Okay, just got word of a new movie I wanna see. If Spielberg can deliver, that is. Check this article.   Doesn't take a genius to tell you it's gonna be CGI heavy.

First Spiderman was okay, haven't seen the second one yet.

I watched Pandorum at the weekend.

It wasn't the scariest horror film ever by any means, and did borrow quite a lot from The Descent]/i] (so probably should have been scarier!) and a little from Aliens and/or Predator I guess.

The bit that really ticks me off is when people write really lazy reviews. I'm looking at you Empire Online :oh: Just because there have been better films made, it doesn't mean you can write three paragraphs, slap a paltry 2 stars on it and call it a review. That was biased a summary at best.

The other annoying thing is all the people commenting on that review saying "it was too dark". Erm.. it's on a spaceship with the power going off and on (mostly off)... surely that would be pretty dark? I don't remember them being parked next to a sun or even a particularly bright energy-efficient light-bulb, so I'd say the darkness was pretty atmospheric. I do wonder how many of those commenting individuals were watching pirated copies in daylight in their living rooms? Certainly I remember having to close the curtains to see what was going on in The Descent sometimes, and darkening the room added vastly to the atmosphere. Sheesh, it's like audiences nowadays want their characters brilliantly-lit and displayed in the centre of the screen. Bunch of lazy asses.

The fact that it's a Paul W.S. Anderson production may tarnish it for some before they even give it a chance, but he does occasionally work on decent enough films (Event Horizon was good IMO, though to many people's horror I will also admit to liking Alien vs. Predator and Resident Evil Apocalypse ;):)).

All in all, not a bad film. Not one I'd go out of my way to re-watch, and I did feel all the jumpy moments were over in the first half hour, but it had some nice twists along the way and revelations at the end.

Erm... having whinged at Empire I'll give it 3 stars :)

The problem with sci-fi nowadays is there are too many films to really try to make an original film without loads of people making comparisons. I like films sometimes where althoguh they may not be great, you can get a sense that people have put in a lot of effort, and when they do borrow ideas like this they at least mix them up a bit and put their own stamp on them. My only real gripe with the film was the bad guys having the stupid glow-sticks that only served to give a heads-up that they were coming.

Saw a trailer for Avatar - it better be as good as it looks like it might be and not as awful as it also looks like it might be (hope you managed to follow that ;)).

3D on this scale can make up for a lot of things, but right now the trailer keeps reminding me of Fern Gullly that cannot be a good thing.

Did catch shots of the trailer at my local annual pop culture expo and yes it looked breathtaking. Curious enough to want to watch. Just hope it doesn't end up like Transformers: a CGI demo with a laughably shallow or (worse nil) story to go with it.

Now I hear they are going to make action figures of stuff in the movie. Especially looking forward to getting an "Iron Lady" MK-6 Armored Mobility Platform . Funnily enough when I first saw one, I mixed it up with the Avatar: The Last Airbender film, thinking they were Fire Nation mechs. ;)

This is Hollywood. I wouldn't put it past them.

The A-Team is coming out as a feature film in June-July next year. I was a huge fan of the series growing up, but I'm skeptical whether this is going to be as good as it's supposed to be. Too bad none of the original cast will be involved. :)

I caught wind a while back that shooting was underway for the new A-Team film but it was only a rumor. The A-Team film page at the wikipedia confirms it and also lists the cast. Check it out when you get a chance. ;)

Just watched Zombieland. I never was too much of a Zombie movie enthusiast (they're about as innovative as romantic comedies), but this one ROCKED! ;) Good comedies are so far between it makes you wonder if there is true comedy left (not just morons that feel Bush jokes makes them something special), and good action comedies are unheard off. Go watch Zombieland! :)

That said, please don't make any more Zombie movies for at least a decade!
