Read and see:

Moscow - November 25, 2003 - Nival Interactive is pleased to announce an add-on to its highly appraised turned-based tactical game "Silent Storm" set in full 3D. The work on the new project started under the working title "Silent Storm: Sentinels" in September, 2003.

"Silent Storm: Sentinels" employs and further improves the best advantages of the original game offering you the new edge of turn-based gameplay. The story of the add-on takes place in the first years after the war. "Thor's Hammer" revives from ashes and gets ready to pose a new threat to humanity, while veteran operatives join their efforts and establish a secret mercenary organization to counter "Hammer's" hidden agenda. These people call themselves "Sentinels"...

Aside from the grasping story, the game features covert action in desert environments, desolated mines, and industrial vaults. Governments do not support "Sentinels" so they have to buy weapons and equipment taking risks at their own.

Key Features:

* new weapons, including postwar developments

* weapon reliability factor - breakdowns and jams

* new mission objectives, such as "infiltration", "demolition" and "murder"

* improved AI - enemy operates with more efficiency and caution

* new mercenaries in addition to the original characters

* gameplay complexity adjustment

Hum... surely there will be a new field called reliability. Melee weapons and throwing knives probably will have a 100% reliability but wait for the 10% reliability of nitroglicerin!! KABOUM!!

Maybe there will be different effects for different types of weapons... for example grenades will make nothing or explode before time, rifles will break or jam, and maybe knives will hurt the user (yeah, it's not so silly at all to get hur by owns melee weapon). Who knows... what I really want is Flamethrowers and Shotguns :P

The v1.2 patch for Silent Storm will add support for shotguns by re-introducing the possibility of firing multiple projectiles per shot. :)

What I'm hoping for, though, is the ability to place (and not throw) timed and triggered explosives on walls, floors, etc, instead of only doors and windows.

My god... these are the BEST news I've heard in years!!! If only Nival would know how happy someone's gonna be when the new add-on is gonna come out! Man I'll say god bless nival!!! And these screenshots look just awesome... the new terrain gives the game a great new look!

Keep it up Nival!!!

This is all great, but one thing that they should be working on is multiplayer. A game like this BEGS for online play and it's one of the major flaws. Silent Storm shouldn't have even been shipped before multiplayer was implemented. A new expansion is great but we really need multiplayer.

Multiplayer ?

I couldn't care less. What I really want is for this to be turned into a strategy game instead of just a shooter. Might as well go play 'Deer Hunter' and kill stuff. (Hmmm... hunting deer with grenades, now that could be fun.)

X-COM and JA2 were REAL strategy games! I still play both. Having finished S2 (Allied) once I am in no rush to go back for more. I started the Axis campaign but got bored very quickly. There's just not enough variation here to make it interesting.
