(the same with AI geometries, copy and paste doesn't work) So, anyone tried to add new weapons this way? Anyone can help?

Reviewing what should I get to read in the subway this morning I figured out a new plot for a mod: This time a true PK oriented mod... well just call them landmates instead of panzer kleins and you will got it! :lol: A Masamune Shirow's APPLESEED MOD.   4. Hum... surely there will be a new field called reliability. Melee weapons and throwing knives probably will have a 100% reliability but wait for the 10% reliability of nitroglicerin!! :lol: KABOUM!! Maybe there will be different effects for different types of weapons... for example grenades will make nothing or explode before time, rifles will break or jam, and maybe knives will hurt the user (yeah, it's not so silly at all to get hur by owns melee weapon). Who knows... what I really want is Flamethrowers and Shotguns
  5. I didn't even have the full release of the game, I only played demo but I did some time ago a lot of scripting for Operation Flashpoing. There is ever a way, and a simple script, to make a place unreachable for enemies, for example (pseudocode): - Add a triger to that unreachable place TRIGGER - Add a waypoint out of that unreachable area WAYPOINT IF UNIT(X) CLOSER THAN Y UNITS TO TRIGGER THEN CLEAR WAYPOINTS FROM UNIT(X) ADD WAYPOINT TO UNIT (X) Maybe it is as simple as that... isn't it?

  7. THIS IS AWESOME, every day I'm more and more happy with this game... reliability of weapons will be GREAT... and seeing that AK47... GOOOD!

    Well, nobody likes distributors, my girlfriend worked for Rebel Act Studios in the game "Severance:Blade of darkness" (called in USA) or "Blade" (called in europe). Distributor was Codemasters. Codemasters fucked the users not releasing the game in USA (stupid decission as they wanted it to be released) and the whole sales in the world wasn't enough to keep Rebel Act Studios working (and they had the XBLADE (blade for xbox) and THE ULTIMATE BLADE (BLADE II) at least 60% and 30% done... So, as a little people bought the game the company crashed and burned thanks to Codemasters... So, not buying a game you dont fuck the distributor, you directly fuck the company who made the game... when a game is good (as Silent Stor) JUST BUY IT! and you will keep Nival making such good games... it's as easy as that.

    I think so, In Spain it is supposed to be released past friday... sadly it wasn't so last weekend I started a download of the two CDs becouse I can't keep playing the demo (once again and again). As soon as the game is released I'll buy it, the problem is that the release is actually delayed for an unknown ammount of time...
  10. That plot could be nice for one or two missions... but an entire mod/campaign with "kill another zombi, and another, and another" plot will be really boring... Don't you think so? Resident Evil is nice for a shooter game, but for turn based tactics...

  13. I'm starting to think there is a serious bug with Radeon cards 9000 and older. I got the same PC at home and at the office, the only difference is that in the office I hava a Radeon 9000 and at home a Radeon 9200... well, with the 9200 it goes pretty well, but with the 9000 the game got stuck everytime a texture is loaded... for example you can see the menu screen with no trouble... but in the campaign screen if you move the mouse from one book to another the game freezes on every texture load. In the main game it is even worst as any movement (mouse movement) makes visible lots of new objecst, so the game with my radeon 9000 is impossible to play. :evil: The computer is a pentium 2.4GHz or so with 512Mb Ram... so, WTF!!

As I saw the PK's are absolutely necessary for storyline purposes, so the right approach to it si to fit their combat values to make them more realistic... more mobility and less armor is the answer. And for energy sci-fi weapons... the best should be to reduce damage and increase reload and fire times... maybe. isnt ther already a Mod with such modifications? :wink:

    I think (tomorrow the game will be released in Spain so I only played demo and readed a lot about the game) there isn't water but for your purpose you can create a frozen lake this way, make a Map Hole (with no ground on it) where you want the lake and cover it with breakable flat object with ice-like texture... now if it blews up the soldiers over it will fall to a NeverEndingStory-like "Nothing" wich will kill them (or am I wrong?) You will not see blue surface below but the effect will be the same.

I think this is a really realistic game... so... as happened in the gulf war... who cares for civilians, children, animals or press workers? :lol: La verdad es que no tiene puta la gracia... en España nos tomamos muy a pecho las muertes NUESTRAS que ha habido y a mi personalmente me jode la postura del gobierno estadounidense con respecto a los daños colaterales.

You can join a group of soldiers to move together (that is good if you have to move them in real time) but why will I want to join them to shoot at the same time to the same target? any benefits apart the hong kong movie style massacre? The only bonus I can see is that you can fire with two or more units without any reactions between one and another fire (as it is simultaneus). Another question, does the AI group units to act at the same time?
  18. Well, maybe a total conversion is a hard work... true... but modding without modelling is just a "change of stats", not bad but surely limited. My idea is to add some models to create a very special mod for the 20's and 30's, so i will need only some weapons (not a rifle plus grenade launcher for sure) and a number of new models (3d model, bones and textures)... but for my project I can imagine for example a "Magic Agression Staff" a rod with 2 kind of spells... one is a "magic projectile" (like rifles) and the other is a "magical bomb" (like grenade launchers)... if I want to put these in hands of an evil half-fish sect leader I got the same problem as the grenade launcher above... Well, a full mod is hard, I don't want a full mod but a Campaign set in Cthulhu 30's (wich could be great!)

I've been brainstorming myself (well just mind masturbation) about the possibilities of creating a combined weapon like this m16+m203 grenade launcher http://textile.snu.ac.kr/users/grizzly/gallery/m203.jpg or even an M41 (from Aliens) http://www.wargameclub.com/WGC_Shop/images/ad_kit_m41a_low.jpg Is there a way of creating such weapon with two mag capacity and ammo types and 3 types of shooting (quick, full auto and grenade)? I think It is impossible, but if so... wich should be the way of do it? The only answer I found is to make two weapons for this, the assault rifle and the grenade launcher apart. Not too realistic but... it's the only way... isn't it?
  20. Well, maybe youre wrong! I got some good ideas (thats my perk) lots of them, I worked hard for many years as RPG director (I mean home work not actually work for money) and this kind of game (Silent storm) IS MY KIND OF GAME. Since I took the demo I am brainstorming myself about what can I do... with my ideas, some of my 2D skills and my secret weapon , I hope I will mod a little bit this really nice game. My secret weapon is my girlfriend, Mercedes, a really nice 2D artist (actually working for Mercury Steam in a new game called Scrapland) who wants to improve her 3D skills and who accepted (today) to help me in this work, nice way to improve and to work together. I made some 3D (years ago) and I am absolutely out of date... but I learn fast and I know what I want to do and how far I can get. Anyway thanks for your comment :wink:
  21. This game is great, I was somehow dissapointed with the release of UFO:Aftermath (good simultaneous type of turns but very very poor tactics and the worst: NO INDOORS). I only played the demo of S2 but this game rocks! I think if modding is easy enough it will be the ultimate (1:1 scale) turn based game for any kind of tactical firefights from the invention of the gunpowder to even future wars... So the wishlist of mods will be almost endless, here are my bets: MODERN COUNTER TERRORISM Any kind of it, from bank rampaging to drug production disrupting and even hostage rescue... USCMC United States Colonial Marine Corps... I mean "aliens", It will be great an Aliens universe mod... what about a campaing in those nasty Arcturan Conflict? Corporate mercenaries vs. Marines! Lots of options, but my favourite is this (next november 21 the game is going to be released in spain, so I will start doing this mod on november 22 :wink: ): DELTA GREEN: the beginning Yeah, a full Call of Cthulhu - brute force MOD, the plot is to make some creatures (I'll start with full mutated deep ones, deep one grunt, deep one shaman and stellar seed of Cthulhu) and try to make some campaigns set between 1920 and 1945... the first one I want to try is "the Fall of Innsmouth", (wich will require to add post WWI US. uniforms) where some troops rush an infested village (and lots of dungeons below). If I go on with it and the project goes well maybe I'll work on the third part of The mountains of madness where a group of desperate Nazi sciencists tries to capture the "ultimate weapon" in the dead Antarctic deserts (not so dead and not so deserted :wink: ) trying to win a lost war or at least trying to revenge a sure defeat. Thats all.
