Well, my critique: -Too many shadows and too few in-game options: It would be nice to somehow worsen the quality of the shadows in-game. -Some levels too dark: WTF, I can't see shit in some levels with the shadows enabled. - Too many enemies: I am in Switzerland right now, and 6 vs. 50 enemies is ridicolous.
  2. The unconscious also makes it easy to abduct those nasty nazi generals !
  3. Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you archieved the mission goals ? I never had that kind of problem.

Glad it worked. FastWrite is a killer.
  5. Somehow I don't get the engine. While everything looks nice except the gras textures ( somehow they look really week ), putting AA on high kills my PC. But AF I can switch to 16 without even the hint of slowdown. It doesn't even look better. Anyone experienced the same ?
  6. Isn't it 1.00 by default in the uk-version ?
  7. WTF ? Open up and see for yourself. If you have a 9500 Pro, consider yourself lucky. Better than the 9600 Pro. If you have a 9500 or 9500 SE, consider yourself unlucky. ( though you might be able to mod it ). Get a tuning programm like Rage 3D http://www.rage3d.com/r3dtweak/dload/R3Dtweak39b.zip And see what your Hz-Clockings are.
  8. Hmm...well, I just pasted it. What exactly is the problem ?

  10. Do you have an official version ? Ever read the manual ?
  11. No problem ! Though I did not think of the Win98-compatibility, I am glad I could help !

The official document is being translated right now, afaik.

  14. Not want to sound rude, but if you got some money, I would invest in a 9600 pro or xt...should run much better then.
  15. Of course this is entirely my opinion: I would like to see more "down to earth"-mods, meaning, new & modified weapons, new maps, maybe some new clothings, and at it's best, new models. It's just that a lot of huge, total conversion projects like an x-com mod or ja2-mod never get out of planning stage or die along the way...and to boot, those that manage to pull of most often take years. Well...I ain't saying those total conversion are bed, but I would like to see smaller projects ( which may be easier to coordinate ).
  16. 0. If you have got anything overclocked, set it back to standard value. 0.1. If you have FastWrite in BIOS enabled, DISABLE it. 0.2. Set the Texture Size ( or so ) in Bios to 32 Mbyte. 1. Download DriverCleaner 2. Use DriverCleaner to delete all traces of Nvidia Graphics Driver ( READ THE README / HELP ) 3. Use DirectXBuster or similiar to delete DirectX. 4. Install DirectX 9b. 5. Don't install the newest drivers. Nonsense for Geforce III, it will only slow down. I have a GF 3 Ti200 myself, and use the 43.xx. Works without problems since 2 years with the exception of a rally game by microsoft. So, install 43.xx drivers. 6. Re-Install S2. If it works, post here. If it doesn't, post here as well. P.S. Mayhaps some problems with the refresh rate of your monitor ? See what your monitor supports. P.P.S. Get 256 Mbyte additional ram. It costs nothing, and will speed up your pc tremendously. P.P.P.S. WinXp.
  17. Thanks Biggles ! Seems I will try Hard then, as it seems its only difficulty matters ! Btw...can you destroy clues, by accident for example ?
  18. Arrrg. So, last question, there are no mission briefings at all in hard mode ? Are those mission briefings done well in normal mode ? ( voice-over, cut scene wise ) What do they show, for instance ?
  19. Thanks you two. So...another question: What is the exact difference in the mission descriptions between normal and hard ? Do I miss cool cutscenes, voice overs and dialoge when playing in hard ?
  20. As the time nears when I start gaming for the first time ( the retail version ), I wanted to ask the more experienced users as to which difficulty should I choose: As I understand, saving in Normal and Hard is identical, correct ? And second, the manual states that there are different "mission briefings" for the three difficulties. Now...how well done are the mission briefings in normal / hard mode ? Any differences ? Sorry for the questions, but I don't want to miss out anything the first time I play it ( always the best time ). I do not care so much about the actual difficulty with enemy A.I, EXP, starting equipment and medic treatment.
  21. One mail bounced back. Did you get all 5 ?
  22. Done. I hope this works. Tell me if it did...then I can delete archived files.
