It's GOTY time again...

Well, I do lounge around Gamespy quite a bit and I read through it all.

RPG of the year: Oblivion?!? Sure you got a seamingly gigantic world to run through with all the bells and whistles. Sometimes big is just equal boring. I mean when you spend 20 minutes running/walking/riding till the next town it tends to be a little boring.

But in my book Neverwinter Nights 2 should have that title even if it only has been out for 1.5 month and there isn't that much user-generated content yet so I guess 2007 will be the year for Neverwinter Nights 2.

As for an "upgrade-free" year....Vista and Directx 10 is around the corner. I guess that has played a part in the game companies release schedules with new possibilities/problems. :)

Come ON Gamespy, you KNOW LEGO Star Wars II deserves the number one spot!

Anyone who's played it will agree with me - it's LEGO, Star Wars, and good old 3D, platformy, shootery, puzzley fun! Even Half Life 2: Episode 1 (I mean, it's an expansion FFS - what's it even doing on the list? You can't have it on GOTY as it's not a game on it's own) has nothing on this one.

If you haven't played this game, I suggest you do. If you've only got a PC and no console to play it on, you can do the age-old trick of two players on one keyboard for co-op play :what:

I likes LEGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :bleh:

Well I played the demo when it came with one of my PC Game magazines. Thought it was a load of crap to be honest, the controls were horrible.

The big issue with it is the way the camera angle changes itself to positions that are more awkward then in Tomb Raider.

Apart from that, it's pretty fun mindless LEGO building and problem solving. Much more fun with two players though.

You'll have it finished in a weekend or two, but it'll be a fun weekend. Replayability's not too high, but once you've completed a level and unlocked some of the rarer characters, you can go back through the whoe game and access areas that only certain characters can get into.

It's not a bad little game.

Sorry to veer the conversation away from Lego Star Wars guys (which I would very much like to play by the way but don't have) but I've been browsing the links here and the only thing that even strikes me at all in that list is Oblivion. I spent years playing and replaying Morrowing, modding all the time and just waiting for Oblivion to come out only to realise, I want more Morrowind... Oblivion sucks!

Honestly I really do think that and I'm not at all sure why... The graphics are phenomenal, the physics are slightly better and it has a new story. But what else has actually changed for the better? Where's my freakin minimap for starters!?! The inventory window is crap, sneaking is a load of balls and lockpicking is absolutely monitor breakingly frustrating! The only part of the game that I liked was the horses and I'd much rather just keep playing Morrowind but have horses in it.

Yes its top ten material but it really isn't that great. I just hope number V is better...

Ooh, really looking forward to the MMO LOTR though, anyone know owt about it?

Actually here's a quick edit... Where was Heroes V? That was a fantastic addition to the HoMM series even with the things I didn't like about it... If it wasn't on the list, and I don't think it was, then why not?
