Nyko
Hello!I just installed AS and played the tutorial without problems...but at the mission where you get the first base territory, all characters are white, as if the texture files for them are not there... the trees and other objetcs appear as a bunch of polygons without texturization as well... at the second or third mission where you need to escort the mutants/cyborgs, everything is black!! the only thing that's there are the HUD, buttons etc... i can't see anything, as if the lights were out! what can i do about it?i'll post some screens later my video is NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (DirectX 9.0c) thanks is advance. That might the answer to your graphics problems. You need minimum a Geforce FX 5700 or a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro to run the game properly.(And to all you 'I ran it without problems on a *place name here*-card that was lesser then what was the specified minimum requirements'. Good for you....)

Mikal
Nyko, This game is very fussy with graphics cards as many can tell. You will get most of what you expect with the card you use but because it is not in spec certain bits will be missing and there is a chance in some situations it might mean your game crashing. Crazy Gringo
thanks for the reply, but I get 70fps on half-life 2 at maximum settingsperformance is not the issue, but the missing textures. The system requirements for HL2 are. Minimum System Configuration1.2 GHz Processor 256MB RAM DirectX 7 capable graphics card (64 MB or higher)Windows 2000/XP/ME/98 Mouse Keyboard Internet Connection CD or DVD rom drive Preferred System Configuration2.4 GHz Processor 512MB RAM DirectX 9 capable graphics card Windows 2000/XP/ME/98 Mouse Keyboard Internet Connection CD or DVD rom drive (retail version only) After thinking it over I think it is something with the shaders. UFO Aftershock supports Shader Models 3.0 which is not supported by graphics cards below/older those specified in my former post. Besides that HL2 was released back in 11/2004 and lots has happend on the graphics card area since then and until the release of UFO Aftershock in 10/2005. (Geforce 6 and 7 series to mention a few and lots more from ATI).It is just a bit strange that you completed the toturial without any problems....Have you checked your graphic settings and does it still act up when you run in safe mode? Nyko
I don't think it's my video card, since I completed the tutorial without any problems!I tryed it on safe mode, and many other combinations without any effect... i have an ATI Radeon 9800 PRO but it is defective (major graphic errors, but still works) maybe that's my last hope here is a screenshot: https://img460.imageshack.us/img460/9272/textures0lm.jpg
Crazy Gringo
Is the game patched to version 1.2 and drivers updated to latest version as in driver version 84.21?
Nyko
game is 1.2I am downloading nvidia's latest now
Gimli
It is almost certainly your graphics card. I am not 100% sure if it's the graphics drivers so you might want to update them, or if that doesn't work, try some of the older ones (sometimes it actually helps). The error you are seeing is definitely of a graphics nature. If the driver thing doesn't help, then it's your graphics card. Geforce 4 MX cards do not have support for pixel shaders, which may be required by UFO: AS. If your graphics card doesn't fall even under minimum requirements... well that's your problem. Hope this helps.
Slaughter
As Crazy Gringo said, Aftershock doesn't support the MX cards. They lack some shaders the game use. I think Bomb Bloke messed around a little with this earlier, as he had the same problem with the demo.
