  1. The bit I've played of it has been great. I highly recommend it!
  2. I, for one, couldn't be more EXCITED! http://www.aperturescience.com/a/b/c/d/g/h/abcdgh/ I'm "hatfarm" on steam, if anyone wants to play some co-op.
  3. QWOP is the hardest flash game I've ever played. The furthest I've been able to make it is 36m. http://www.foddy.net/Athletics.html

    OpenXcom

Amazing progress! Keep up the good work!
  5. The DOSBox does that because it has a script that it follows when it runs. You can delete the file, or edit it and have it not actually run the bat file for TFTD. Or, you can install another copy of DOSBox and run that instead. http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf I think the file is called "TFTD.conf" for the version that came with steam's TFTD. It should either be in the TFD directory, or the DOSBox directory.

    New X-COM Hack

Hello Sgt. Strike, The ability to stun and kill ALL aliens is available, if you load a tactical save, there are two buttons, one says kill all aliens and one says stun all aliens. Either of these buttons will do the trick. However, that is genius to have just a single kill/stun button for any alien you want. I'll work on that for you, possibly getting it into the next iteration (no guarantees though). Thanks for the recommendation, let me know if you have any more ideas or questions. Thanks!

    New X-COM Hack

Just to let everyone know, I am going to be releasing a new beta pretty soon. It's not much of a change, but it'll fix a couple bugs I've found and SHOULD have a smaller executable. Whether or not that actually happens, we'll see, but I think it should as I'm removing a lot of strings that have been hardcoded. I've finally gotten around to loading them from the game directory, I just have to go through and point to the location of each string, which is tedious. I'll have a string editor available as well. I was hoping to have a terrain editor available for tactical saves, but it's not proving to be as easy as I thought, so I can't guarantee that'll happen. The new beta should be available some time this week.
  8. I like the sound of it. I'm not gonna be able to try it out for a long while (school is kicking my butt). I'm hoping to be able to develop an image editor at some point, I'll make sure to check the bigobject.pck file with it. Good job!
  9. I'm still learning the ropes of multiplayer, but if anyone would like to play together sometime (head to head or against someone) my battle.net account is hatfarm@gmail.com. Let me know you're from these boards though, because otherwise I'll probably not add you as a friend.
  10. Yeah, I purchased it. I've played a bit of the single player, but I bought it for the multiplayer. I've played the original as well, I don't think I ever played single player on that though. I'm pleased with the changes overall, the game seems to be a bit faster, which I like. If you'd like to play online some time, my name is hatfarm, and you can add me at hatfarm@gmail.com. I don't play alot because of school, but I've been fitting it in when I can. Speaking of, I'm gonna go play now.
  11. I was able to hear everything. It's kind of nice to hear their motivations for going in a new direction. However, this means that they have set their bar very, because if it's not really good, there's no point in throwing out the old stuff.
  12. I got into UFO first. I had never heard of it and for my birthday my friend bought it for me. I LOVED it immediately. It was pretty much everything I wanted in a video game at the time. I was super into the X-Files at the time too. I played it and beat it a couple of times, then heard about TFTD. My friend bought it and I spent the weekend there and we played it quite a bit. We got a lobsterman mission that we couldn't kill one last lobsterman (despite many grenades and emptied clips of gauss weapons). So, I didn't finish it, and actually never have.
  13. The windows version is nice, but the steam version is good. That's what I use (mostly) and it's fine. The only problem would be the difficulty bug in my opinion. Especially if you're running windows vista/7, as those require more work to get working for the windows version.
  14. I had the laggy mouse too, but I'm using a mediocre 3 year old laptop that has no graphics card (just an accelerator) and 2gb memory and 1.5ghz dual core processor. So, I just assumed it was my computer. I really like the idea of having pilots for each craft, I'm hoping that they will eventually have stats that affect their piloting so you can pick up different pilots for different crafts (like some are better at combat, and others are good at landing in advantageous spots for battle). I like the base layout as well, the new facilities are good, I REALLY like the idea of having different sized hangars, that adds some more strategy to the base layout design. One thing I always wished you could do in X-Com was set up your initial base layout, since that is something you could conceivably do if you're there starting up the group, I realize that's not really the case in UFO:AI though. Still, I think it would be nice. The interception I think could be done better. I didn't realize my first craft had been shot down because I wasn't looking at the time, I think it'd be nice to be able to observe the battle a bit better (similar to how X-Com does it, but you could do better, that was my least favorite thing of X-Com). I'd like to see more interaction in the intercept mode. The battlescape I didn't do much, but as others said, I prefer bringing them out of the ship myself. The battlescape was slow for me, because of my computer, but I played a little bit. Orientation was a bit weird, it was difficult to exactly move and things, but I think that might have been due to my computer's slowness. The only other problem I had was with the layout of the geoscape, as was said earlier, it's not laid out to be incredibly user friendly, I had to go searching for a lot of things that would have been nice to have them be very obvious, I do like the timing and zoom controls though. I wouldn't mind seeing the stopping of time going away though.
  15. Awesome, thanks BladeFireLight. That will definitely come in handy.
  16. That's pretty much how I felt after watching the video, but after reading the preview I do feel better. Not great, but better.
  17. The IGN Preview makes it seem much better than the video does. The video seems like a fairly standard FPS, which would be disappointing, but that write up makes it seem like there is much more to it, which I am all for. I'd rather see a Rainbow 6 style team squad thing than just a single FPS (like the UFO games I guess), but if they deliver on the "getting attaced to your guys" thing, I'm down in FPS format.

    New X-COM Hack

Then yes, I will definitely work on that. I don't imagine it would be TOO difficult, but it won't be easy either. Thanks for the suggestions, and keep them coming!

    New X-COM Hack

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna implement that in the next part too, but I'm trying to think of how to lay it out and everything. It'll come in nicely, since I'll be loading the strings from the game in anyway. It'll be a while though.

    New X-COM Announced

In case no one has posted this here before. It doesn't look all that great to be honest, but I'm hopeful: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/70012/x...10.html?show=hi

    New X-COM Hack

Are you talking switching back and forth, or completely importing one into the other? The switching I think can be done, probably no problem, though we'd probably have to edit the palettes and such, but the complete importing would be very difficult. If I could figure that out, I'd definitely implement it. Either way, this gives me a goal, and I'll get cracking on it.

    New X-COM Hack

What kind of executable editing would you like? Classes start for me on Monday, but I'm gonna try to get the first beta done by then (no promises though). Any requests/recommendations? It'll be a whole "game" editor, meaning strings, weapons, executable and image editing. That's the goal at least, as well as more options for saved game editing.

    New X-COM Hack

That would be alright with me. I didn't think creating a brand new entry for it would be worth it considering that the other version's only been out for a couple weeks. Also, I forgot about 1 option I didn't include in TFTD, that is completing the current research being done. That is mostly because I know there are a lot of problems with the research, and didn't want to risk destroying someone's chances to beat the game. Hopefully that's understandable.
