  1. the patch fix that "biomass cause lagging at geoscape screen" without starting a new game
  2. armour types are fine, but I fully agree that the transgenants are seriously boring, xcom: enemy unknown (and basically the rest of the series) had far more interesting aliens, easy to recognise too. the stupid flying fish is the only one I had to use normal weps agains
  3. the last aliens in the queens room does endure quite a lot of beating, but they don't deal any serious damage, I mind-controlled the two real aliens, and threw lots of granades at the thougher new ones, plus I let the mind controlled aliens blast them. it took some time, but I never was in danger of actually loosing a guy. I guess my two frontmen with pdw/mp7 and grenades did most of the work though.
  4. the real end was kinda sucky too, just finished it on normal difficulty, without loading a single time during the moon mission psi + pdw/mp7 > * I would really like more action packed ending movies :/
  5. kinda silly to not show a video of the queen :/ at least we got a video, but still
  6. the third alien psi-wep you get can mind-control
  7. I finally got the friggin biomass (from a downed ufo over biomass) and now I'm ready for the last mission
  8. they don't use biomass to wipe the globe, they use it to rule the universe
  9. it's getting a bit easier after the first shock but still requires a fair load of saving/loading. I even noticed that some aliens I mind-controlled were all excellent instead of heroic
  10. I guess something is really wrong with the psi-defence, when a soldier with heroic psi-defence + enhanced "psi-helmet" is mind-controlled after one try. However, I have seen more misses after I got bio-armours of most of the guys.
  11. outside on that mission, I just used a collapsible plasmagun, a dual barrel machinegun, and psi-control, oh, the nearest alien right behind the starting point got nailed by pdw/mp7 inside was very easy, only one rocket hit my team.
  12. basilisk, I just took the same mission, also with normal difficulty, had no problems at all just psi-control the aliens asap, if they see some friends, shoot 'em, if not, put down their weapons, they aren't smart enough to pick up weapons from the ground after you lose control of them. using enhanced heavy armour and bio armour btw, so they can withstand a couple of rockets, if the buggers manages to get a shot off.

    spoiler

their default armour is very good, but if you take it off, you're screwed, since you can't put it back on anyway, they're not anything special, I use one of them for psi-attack, works, but no better than my own guys
  14. you can't say it isn't possible, since both myself and others manage to handle it but yeah, it's difficult at times.
  15. the alien psi-mind-control thingy is extremly usefull, nothing more satisfying than intercept that bastard before he launch a rocket at you, and then let him shoot at his own feet ) best of all, mind-control doesn't need a clear line of sight.
  16. I have roughly 32 bases, lot's of tech etc, but still no biomass-research :/ I shoot down every planter I see, and even took a base mission on top of biomass (bug? since the base was lost right after I captured it), but no luck yet :/
  17. I agree that the game suddenly become 5 times as difficult, it was just a walk in the park up until they started their blaster-frenzy. I have overcome most of it though, and I only use heavy armour, sun, sky and bio armour. Run like mad when they target you with blasters, it helps a lot. Always go in groups to avoid getting owned by psi-control, and pray that they take control over one of your snipers, since they do very little dmg to your armour-types (except sky). A cheezy trick is to load the game when owned, then take the soldier who got controlled and put all his weapons to the ground, this way, he isn't much of a threat. I cant stress enough how good pdw/mp7 sub machinegun is, really tear down those psi-dudes regardless of armour, on full-auto of course. It's also amusing to take control of them (they are heroic at all skills btw), payback time btw, it seems like psi-defence isn't worth jack, heroic psi-defense dudes still get taken control of in one hit.

    Tech-tree

I sure as hell wouldn't want to see it though, spoiling all the fun
  19. lost a couple of helmets myself
  20. you are supposed to use them as soldiers, at least I do so
  21. I use default names, got Steve Saunders as a default-name though, isn't that the guy from beverly hills? (the 90's tv-series)
  22. you guys should really play more before commentin so hashly on the plotline, newsflash, it isn't a great alien-empire that attacks us, it's a rather small renegede force, which aim is not to conquer earth, but to do their own research based on biomass. and for the comments about science etc, come on, it's a game, I for sure wouldn't want to wait thousand years for that plasma rifle
  23. use the pdw/mp7 sub machinegun, extremly good. hardly ever used the steyr myself.
  24. you need heavy armour for all heavy (doh) weapons, I've used both the foldable four-barrel gun and a later more advanced alien-tech foldable, both works great, but takes ages to deploy, they also re-deploy them if you switch target (bug?), anyway, I've ditched them for a non foldable heavy dual-barrel machinegun, almost the same damage without the deploy-time.
  25. play x-com 3: apocalypse if you want the game to play itself no bashing intended though, apocalypse was great, just different from aftermath (and enemy unknown / terror from the deep)
