  1. Of course with a project like this the backbone of it is the programming department. The last year-or-so has been spent essentially rewriting the engine from the ground up. A change like this is huge but unfortunately invisible. Fans only see the outside of the black box and can't appreciate the changes going on in the inside of it. Sure it's frustrating and yes expect a release later rather than sooner. But that IS a release folks.
  2. Hobbes; Nice site. Sorry I just found out about it now. Since it's hosted by XcomUFO you are entitled to your own forum for it and modship of it at XcomUFO; go have a look.
  3. . . . . but . . . . you couldnt actually COLLECT Alien reproduction; you had to give it to yourself with an editor.
  4. Well you read through a thread, a thought enters your mind, and suddenly you find yourself hitting the reply button; what can I say.
  5. Also check out here there's plenty of fan produced stuff for the Xcom series.
  6. Not really I was just looking in the UFO 1 forum. Hmmm! Gives me an idea . . . .
  7. Not really! I just revived threads I was interested in replying in; that was, what?, may 8-or-so of them; not much, really.
  8. Most of these threads were created before I joined. I was just going through them; that's all.
  9. I can personally attest that the odds for that are not astonomical :-(

    Xenocide

Of course I was. I'm a member of project Xenocide, that was the joke. Sorry for the trouble. I hope this helps
  11. Yeah but you have to live in MO; too cold.
  12. Forgive him he is a . . . well . . . Sasquatch, after all.
  13. Toss a high explosives under 'em; gets 'em ev'ry time.
  14. I'd agree that it refers to the alien gardens et al. Since that doesn't directly lead to UFO ship thrust and so on, I guess they left it out of the game. 100 bucks per unit if I recall correctly.
  15. Sheesh I was just exploring archives that i'd never seen before. Are we not to reply in old threads?

    Stuff

Compare age of thread with my start date; I was wading through the archives.
  17. Shoot down lots of UFOs (particularly ones going 4800knots) and you'll make up the difference. If the terror mission is not in a funding country you'll lose less. Me I shoot down everything I can. If the aliens make it through well more power to them. Don't stress, the penalty for terror missions is overrated. BTW I just learned that if you just land and then take off again (having done nothing) it apparantly halves the penalty or so.
  18. Probably Europe. That's where my first base goes. Also with the Pacific being half the planet, Europe is in the middle of the "land" side.
  19. Scientists either 50 or 100, depending on situation. Engineers 255+255+(200-35). 2 factories employing 255 each pumping out laser cannons and one base for building stuff ultimately has 4 workshops. IIRC Avenger takes the "space" of 35 engineers.

    Other: the incendiary rocket.
  21. you may need an account there. It's free account as it is here. The site is a fan run site as it is here. They dont bite.
  22. Setup for base defense, well why din't you say so ..... <stewart draws air in for a few minutes > please consult the following thread over at XcomUFO (nifty diagrams too).
  23. 1 ) The computer assumes that since you went through all that effort to make a flying suit, when it's forced to make a guess, of what you were thinking (between flying and not), it picks flying. 2 ) Most will show up in General stores and Quarters (never in lift and hangar, whew!) Next likely are radars and defenses. With the rest bring up the third group. On the other hand, this is something that can be described with statistics so our good friend Zombie should be along sooner-or-later.
  24. I recall a mission against sectoids going very badly. I had one guy left. I stuck him in the back of the skyranger knealing; planning to shoot anything that came up the ramp. After a while I stood up. I could see all the bugs in a nice little arc. I couldn't shoot them because the floor interfered with line-of-site. The geometery was no good for grenades. Oh for want of a blaster launcher the mission was lost.
