Space Voyager
Yep, CA seems to have forgotten about testing. All of the money went into sly presentations of what they were supposed to be doing... On the good side, M2TW mods got quite a boost of downloads as people just hung R2TW to the wall. Thorondor
Despite all the fuss, it's interesting to see people rating Rome II all over - from inspiring and overambitious to terrible, broken disappointment... :: Meanwhile here's another fresh review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zONahCEu4ew
Space Voyager
Frankly I give credit to anyone that has the guts to call a TW game crap. Mostly because they would be dead wrong about many of the TW games, but also because SEGA/CA have such a PR machinery at work that your voice may seem retarded in the chorus of "best game ever" professional singers. Very few really honest reviewers remain, the ones who give the game the time needed to really see it for what it is. I just hope CA takes the time and makes this game worthy of the promises made. Half will be forgiven.

Space Voyager
Seeeeeeeeeriously, the list of changes far exceeds the list of game features... This should not have happened to a TW title. Is nothing worth waiting for any more?!
Thorondor
Is nothing worth waiting for any more?! Well, yes, it might be worth waiting for things to get patched, most definitely, as is being clearly demonstrated here. Still, you are quite right, SV, this speaks volumes about how powerful a AAA publisher-dictated release date is - to the point that an evidently unfinished game proves to be of no detriment to going ahead and shipping it regardless. :: The result? Very negative PR for them and many dissatisfied loyal customers, who deserve better, and may think better before buying next time.
Space Voyager
Oh, OH, that hurts, below the waist! Yes, waiting for patches will hopefully be worth the wait, though experience with Empire tells it may not lead to the desired result. Empire: TW was left in a hardly playable state. Its final "patch" was called Napoleon:TW, with a price of a full game. The products only get better when the customers evaluate them before buying. With games, this would equal reading several reviews. Sadly, even this can backfire, as big review houses obviously have no guts to call a donkey donkey, not a horse. This is why I was so eager to point out reviews who do have those guts and are not afraid that next time they will not be given exclusive donkey shit before the donkey is in the stable. My apologies to donkeys, they did play a big role in building civilizations.
