November 12, 201213 yr Author Apparently I played this mission in september and forgot to post it...weird. The 'ranger decends into the countryside. SV readies her stun launcher, aiming it out the back of the craft. WHOOOSH! A snakeman drops to the ground unconscious. Strike spots a door open on an neighboring farmhouse, another soldier comes over to investigate and another snake is out in the open! Strike continues his sweep, suddenly he hears a door open behind him! Luckily, Mero is there to gun that bastard down! Strike also hears a door opening near him! He moves to the doorway and stands over the snakeman corpse. Through the building he spots another alien. He opens fire, hits, to minimal effect, and takes incoming fire right to the leg! He scurries off behind cover and Mero moves into position to heal him. Meanwhile on the other side of the LZ, Pete walks up behind an alien with barely any TUs left. Quickly he ducks into cover and prays he doesn't get killed! Mero heals Strike while Trogdor moves into the area to deal with the alien. He opens up firing off a burst that also doesn't kill the snakeman...However, it does blow out the door and Strike and administer the kill shot! Pete and SV are sneaking up on that alien and suddenly it doubles back and runs out into the middle of the clearing! Not one to pass something like this up, Pete takes aim with his plasma pistol and blows it to hell! Now time to head for the UFO. Our western squad goes through the building on the way just to be sure while the rest come in through the field to the east. Suddenly, before we are properly set up the last alien exits the craft and Trog and Strike mow it down with reaction fire. All in all a successful operation! Excellent, that torture is coming along nicely! We learn that this alien assault is operating out of the Cydonia region on Mars. An area that is presumeably the site of an ancient Martian civilization! With no way of actually getting there however, we're going to have to continue research to get the required technology to travel to Mars.

November 18, 201213 yr Fairly sure it'd be 1.2, assuming there weren't multiple CD releases. He's also using an old copy of my toolkit along with what I'd assume is XcomUtil 9.6.

May 20, 20206 yr Author Yeah, it's a bit tedious though since I don't know exactly what I need to research to get to things and end up just mass researching leaders and engineers because I need them to learn random things that unlock the usual tech.
May 24, 20206 yr Author High explosives and stun bombs are the way to win these apparently...otherwise the civvies are dead in about 4 turns Another one of those massive "hybrid" missions where you go in and gun down 50+ cannon fodder aliens armed with AK47s and RPGs And Commander Awesome!
