Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice!Basically, it's a new dark age after a golden age. People can't replace the old tech with anything better, and things gradually wear out, or are destroyed. So you end up with these patchwork weapons systems where you might have half the stock components, a few factory replacements, and a whole lot of bodged together hacks to keep the machine running. -
Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice!"FIRE!"
Our Goblin connects with his pop-gun. This rattles the Commando and he only scores a 1 and misses!
"Attention Capellan mech, stand down or be destroyed!"
He responds by moving in and taking out the Goblin with a barrage of SRMs. Our infantry squad bails out into the woods as the tank is destroyed.
"Take'em out!"
Our Cicada moves in closer and fires on the right flank of the Commando!
We fire again on the Commando as it moves into heavier cover. Smoke billows from the damaged mech as an SRM launcher is blown out.
"I've got a shot, sir."
"As do I!"
"Surrender and be taken as salvage!"
"Damn, missed!"
The Commando moves at flank speed off the map. Our forces miss due to the sheer speed of the mech moving out of heavy cover and bee lining it for the edge of the map.
All in all, we've put a savage ass-whipping on them this battle. 3 units destroyed, 1 heavily damaged at the cost of an IFV. We've managed to salvage several mechs from the last battle. 2 Catapults, 2 Hunchbacks, a Griffin, a Dragon and a Jenner. Things might be turning around for us now!

Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice!Base! The Dracs are mounting PPCs in the missile pods of their Catapults, uploading recon data!
*PEW!* Another PPC strikes our Hunchback. We're gonna have to move in closer since we don't have the range to deal with them!
They're running in through an open field, while we're in the hills. Best we exploit this while we can!
Moving through the hills our Crab takes 3 hits, the other mechs overheat to fire while the enemy is in the open.
Our Wolverine and Griffin fire off alphastrikes at the Catapults as they shred our Hunchback and Crab with PPC fire. The Hunchback limps behind a hill waiting on the enemy to get closer since he's so slow.

Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Invasion Postponed Until 2012they need to go on kickstarter and raise billions of dollars, that should get the game out on time, for sure! -
Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice! It's the 31st century, that tech is long since gone and we're at the stage of fighting over the last can of tuna fish with our 400 year old patchwork battlemechs! -
Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice! There was an Alphastrike game I played once with the kitchen settings as terrain because we didn't have a map with us. Had mechs hiding behind salt shakers and standing on beer cans. It was epic. -
Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice! This universe also had a tv show, but it was so bad that they officially retconned it into being an in-universe propaganda piece that somehow got onto our tv screens. -

Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Let's Play With Dice! The Thunderbolt fires off everything he's got, but only the LRM and Large Laser connect. 8 damage to the center torso but most of those LRMs missed!
We return fire on the already heavily damaged mech. Medium laser to the chest!
BOOM! Mech destroyed!
The Capellan mech falls to the ground as all it's weapons miss and the pilot ejects!
Our Griffin is the last mech standing, aside from that crippled, disarmed Urbanmech we'll be salvaging.
We've taken minimal damage to this mech but our Wolverine is a total loss and our Urbie is barely salvageable.

Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Europa Universalis IVI got EU4 from a humble sale a couple of months ago and I've been playing the crap out of it. Got a few hundred hours into it so far and I kept restarting every couple of hours because I'd learn something new and totally game changing, or I'd get destroyed, but I've got the basics of it now I think.
First big game I stuck it out in I was Castile, and ended up forming Spain and had a decent South American and African empire. That one spiraled out of control when I declared a theocracy and gave the Pope the finger. My allies all bailed and eventually declared war over it. Lesson learned!
Next up was a game as England where I basically conquered all the trading hotspots around the world and I didn't figure out I wasn't on Ironman until about 2 weeks in...so I just played it out til the end to see what I could learn just with random savescumming. Basically ended up with North America, Africa and the Far East. Oddly, England didn't take India and Australia...oh well!
Also this:
Now for the current game I decided to redo England this time with Ironman for sure turned on. So far I'm beating up France with my allies Portugal and for some reason...Spain. After beating up France, my heir suddenly dies, followed by my king, and since I'm royal married to Spain and France has claims on English territory on the continent, they fight it out and I end up under Spain...

Jman4117 got a reaction from Space Voyager in Jman Plays X-com: Extreme EditionHigh explosives and stun bombs are the way to win these apparently...otherwise the civvies are dead in about 4 turns
Another one of those massive "hybrid" missions where you go in and gun down 50+ cannon fodder aliens armed with AK47s and RPGs
And Commander Awesome!
Fix the board, I have a thread to post!

Jman4117 got a reaction from sp1ke in Jman Plays X-com: Extreme EditionOk, apparently I'm alive, or something. Maybe abducted and cloned with the real me being dead, not sure. -
Jman4117 got a reaction from sp1ke in Jman Plays X-com: Extreme EditionOk, rules.
1. No Skyranger, or any other standard drop ship. We're going in on interceptors and only using the Avenger to get to Cydonia with 14 men max.
2. No rifle class weapons, heavy plasma, or blaster launchers. It's going to be pistols, stun bombs and human heavy weapon tech here.
3. The starting base will be reorganized for defensive purposes but starting funds will be used for this. No starting freebies.
4. No human operative is allowed into the mind of an alien. It would clearly make them unstable afterward if they even lived to tell what they saw. Panic attacks only!
Volunteer if you dare, but be prepared for regular death and vat cloning.

Jman4117 got a reaction from sp1ke in The Humans must be more powerful than we realized..We finally get our economy churning and actually build something at greater than 25% efficiency. Each new command center that comes online gives more resources to the neighboring sectors and allows us to march another sector into Human territory. Eventually our Handling Machines are all building constructors and repair facilities, the resource shortage mostly behind us. By the end of this installment, we have basically taken Scotland from the Humans. Even the might of the British Navy cannot drive the Martian juggernaut from her shores.
