Strong Bob
I'll spread the word. But you gotta do something about that headache of a website. If it wasn't for the link you threw at us here, it's likely "This Is X-COM" would never have been found. >_<
The Veteran
I still can't see it! It was doing the whole buffering thingy and it got to the end of the clip but when I tried to play it from the start it wasn't having any of it! Damn thing...

Pumpkinhead
Why do we need this bittorrent thing? Can't we download the whole thing from somewhere? I don't like downloading executables that aren't commercial releases!
Pete
It's a huge file so any site it got hosted on would have trouble if more than about 20 people downloaded it in a month, hence the problem. Just one of the joys of web-hosting I guess. Anyway, I used the torrent software mentioned and it worked fine. Have faith in the non-commercialness of the software, it produced no errors or viruses or spyware for me

Shades of Green
The torrent links and files don't work for both Shareaza and ABC; in Shareaza it doesn't add it to the Torrent window (I've downloaded a 120-MB Thief II mod with it's bittorent lately, so I think it's configured right). In ABC it adds it right but after some time gives the "bad data from tracker" error. And I can't find it on a standard Kazaa search, only the trailer.Any help? pocthesaint
I was afraid this was going to happen... The tracker has failed... go here and restart... https://www.torrentbox.com/torrents-browse.php?page=2 hope that works for ya

NKF
Is there any chance that we can get a 320x400 version with heavy compression and 8bit 11028khz (or less) sound? Us lowly modem users don't mind! Really! Or would this just be too much additional work? - NKF
Bomb Bloke
Actually, my vote is for a mailing service, I'd be happy to pay some money for the 700mb version.

Us lowly modem users don't mind! Really! Or would this just be too much additional work? - NKFJudging by the amount of posts you post in different forums/day, one could think you have a faster connection Well anyways, as I said, When I push the download link, it downloads a 1kb size of file only. Does anyone have an idea what this is all about?
Pete
You need a torrent application to hook up the 1kb file to the actual 700mb file. See Saint's previous posts for details of a torrent client or head to downloads.com and search for "torrent" to try and of the many other clients available. NKF: The 100mb version I downloaded was already pretty compressed. I'm fairly sure that if it were compressed much further you'd start losing a lot more audio and video, and they're not the clearest on the 100mb version as it is The main problem compression wise stems from the entire thing being over 50 minutes long - there's not much you can do for that kind of compression, however I will hunt around the internet and see if there are any services available for mail ordering stuff like this... there's services available for publishing entire books so I think this would be a doddle by comparison
Pete
Quick update - Cafepress.com seems like the logical solution at the moment. The following link has all the FAQ's for data CD's and the prices aren't amazingly high... https://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/datafaq.aspx#2 Base price is for CD with Paper Sleeve @ $4.99or CD with Jewel Case and Inserts @ $8.99 Shipping starts at $4 inside the US, $6 for Canada and goes up to $7 for the rest of the world. So... I'd be looking at about £7-£8 here in England for a paper sleeve version and delivery within 14 days. You can print an image or whatever onto the top of the CD and the packaging and there doesn't appear to be a minimum order so there doesn't appear to be anything to lose by offering this. Of course, I've not read any small print and it's not down to me at the end of the day - just the first solution I came across that doesn't seem to involve too much hassle to put into production
pocthesaint
If you guys can please hold off on sending this thing around the world in 80 days and such =] I shall let you in on a wonderful little something, something... =] Im working on getting the liencses for the music and the X-COM name itself so we can release a "This is X-COM" DVD with all the trailers, teaser, improved and higher quaility version of the documentary with deleted scenes and MORE buffoonery... And Commentary too boot =] So just keep your pants on... Were working on it =] Because this would be a far far better thing to have than just a CD with the documentary on it... Plus it puts a little cash in our pocket for our insane amount of work we put into this.... =] I'll keep you well posted on the progress... Much love-SAINT PS: Were well over 700 dloads of the 700 meg version =] W00T!

Ice2056
omg, a 766mb download and then I remembered.... .wmv doesn't like Linux Any chance an .avi version will come out someday?
Cronos
I know a way to encode WMV format (which is very hard format, copyrighted by Microsoft - they don't let any software other than Windows Media Player and WIndows Movie Maker to use this format). The software name is TMPGEnc and it can convert your WMV file into mpg, avi, whatever you want, it can even output mpeg files in VCD, SVCD and DVD formats (ready for burning on CD/DVD to be played on stationery DVD player on TV screen). You just have to download it from internet (it's free) and when you open a file, choose "All files" when Browsing directories.
