Mods! Madness!

Featured Replies

So, what mods do you like to use with JA2?

I find the v1.13 mod/upgrade pretty much essential. Apart from that, depends on silly mood of the day.

(Hm, it's been a year. Probably lots of new fancy stuff there, ought to take another peek.)

Yeah, I've played with that mod a little bit (haven't played JA2 in over 2 years), but what all it offered was pretty cool. Especially all of the guns. I like guns.

I'll have to point to the How well do you know your mods? questionnaire then. ;)

A. Tons and tons. Look around the Bear's Pit. A list of on-top-of-1.13 mods:

DBB's Gun Mod - now that's gun porn madness. 1.13 is quite reasonable in comparison.

Urban Chaos, Vietnam, Deidranna Lives, Night Ops ... new campaigns galore.

(from the urban chaos faq:)

5) My mercs are unarmed when entering Danubia!

Indeed they are. Next time YOU travel on a comercial plane, try taking an AK-47 with you and see if you can get past Customs.

6) Hey, uhm, I get shot to pieces in the subways.

So don't go there yet...

That russian "Night Ops" mod looks promising. Time to get shot to bits again, I think.
What is it with the Russians? They seem to be the only ones making these squad based strategy RPGs anymore. Working on JA3...did Silent Storm and Hammer & Sickle (wish I could run H&S...probably can't, even if I managed to find it).

Здравствуйте, добро пожаловать на мой класс на ночь ... You do not speak Russian? Ah, I miss days when Russia was at war with everybody.

Nyet and Nechievo...that's about all of my Russian. Don't be fooled by my avatar pic. That's actually Hank Venture putting on a fake Star Trek Mirror Universe Spock beard and pretending to be Russian Guyovich, an exchange henchman. Long story...watch the excellent TV show/cartoon The Venture Bros. It's pretty damn funny.

As for the Russians themselves...I do too. Sure they could've nuked our entire countries into a Dark Age, but you could respect them GODDAMMIT! They were good bad guys. These bad guys nowadays...I dunno, no respect for them. I spit on their faces, French-style.

The most drastic changes are the amount of APs you get and the inventory system.

You get more APs, because everything costs more to do. Namely, shooting weapons like the .50 cal Barret anti-material rifle. The inventory is more realistic now. Instead of walking about with t-shirts and khakis with pockets big enough to carry 500 rounds of ammo, grenades, and a toolbox...you gotta get some web gear. Or as the Brits call it PLCEs (Personal Load Carrying Equipment), and rucksacks.

I believe you can even get yourself a ghillie suit too instead of finding just those camo make-up kits and playing military Barbie. Well, now that I think about it...this whole game is military Barbie. WOW!

Yep, the new AP system seemed a bit odd at first, but so did the original when I first started playin'. I was really impressed with the ini editor, now there's a fair bit of gameplay options that can be cherry picked to my pleasure ;)
