Thorondor Posted May 10, 2018 Report Share Posted May 10, 2018 Objects in Space is a retro open-world stealth-action space game in which starships are modelled on Cold War era submarines rather than on WWII era dogfighters. Players take control of their own small ship and must traverse the tumultuous Apollo star cluster – a new home for humanity outside our solar system – a place alone in the universe, with no contact from Earth in almost fifty years. Objects also allows players who want to go beyond keyboard and mouse to build their own custom starship bridges at home using physical hardware. The team at Flat Earth Games have built a bridge to show players what can be done, and fans have already started building their own completely unique versions at home in anticipation of the game’s launch. :: Currently in alpha but a closed beta will start at the end of May and Early Access is scheduled for the 21st of June, as now announced here. And then a new threat appears on the horizon with the potential to wipe them all out. In the face of the new enemy, the squabbling races must make peace and unite to survive. Take the helm as a representative of one of the previously feuding races. Your goal is to help build space stations throughout the galaxy, to promote trade among the races, strengthen diplomatic relations, and help defeat the new threat you all face. But your most important task is to make your space station the greatest of them all. Among the Stars will allow you to select locations through card drafting and use them to build your station, scoring victory points based on their placement. Construction lasts four years, and the alien race with the most points at the end wins. So, what are you waiting for? Build bases, establish allegiances, manage your resources effectively, and be the first to Mars! Picking between the space agencies of either Europe, Russia, or the United States, the players then control the agency to collaborate or compete in a decades-spanning campaign to expand humanity's reach further into space. With each game an alternate history begins to be shaped and guided by the player's actions, building iconic rockets, probes, and satellites that transmit crucial scientific data back to your customisable Earth HQ, all the while researching, investing in, and bolstering your space flight capabilities. During the player's version of the space race, perhaps Europe work with Russia, sending satellites into orbit? Could it be that the US get this first satellite into space but that Russia achieves the first moon landing? Who will be best poised to venture to Mars because of learnings from earlier missions? Players will research new tech, expand their agency base, build rockets, send satellites into orbit, and launch a variety of missions throughout the Solar System.
