November 29, 201213 yr Endless SpaceEndless Space seems to know no limits. Thanks to Amplitude Studios and with the help from the gaming community participating in their GAMES2GETHER initiative one more free add-on has been brought forth, signaling once again before all the enduring vigour of the title.https://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/5539/news-thumbnail_echoes_of_the_endless_bnr.jpg It's called "Echoes of the Endless" and here's the story behind it: "...Like an earthquake or a tidal wave, like a birth or a blossoming, something has awakened the ancient infrastructures of the Endless. Empty planets now show signs of Endless technology, which seems to be rebooting itself in response to a strange signal that is propagating across the galaxy -- a signal from the system where we last saw Jana Kryv, almost two years ago. Systems that slept for centuries are coming back on line, and many things are not what they appear to be. What we thought were rocks may be bases, what we thought were wrecks may be viable ships. But we must walk cautiously among the relics of the Endless; though we seek to pierce their mysteries we are not yet on a level with their knowledge. We must travel farther, think harder, and work faster than ever before. It is more than our holy mission that is at risk now; it is the shape and the future of the galaxy as we know it..." - Excerpt from a speech by Kamau Savasbat, Patriarch, A.B. 112 Among many other things, it features: • Interactive Random Events• Natural and Endless Wonders• More life on the Galaxy Map (Comets, Black Holes, Pulsars, etc.)• Exploration Rewards• 5 New Heroes and Refactored Hero Ability Trees• 5 New Music Tracks• Narrative Responses in Diplomacy But possibilities are expanded even further today, in celebration of this release, with some very special incentives to pick up the game and play: (...) Amplitude Studios also announces the start of a Steam free weekend that will run from 29 November until 3 December, which will be combined with a special Community Event as well as a 50% discount. Throughout the Steam free weekend, more rewards will get unlocked as more unique players play the game. There are 6 hidden rewards, with the final reward being the Automaton Ship Models. More information about the Community Event can be found here. If there are examples of indie 4x strategy games done right, Endless Space is surely one of them, so we encourage anyone who hasn't given it a go before to take advantage of the opportunity do so now.

December 8, 201510 yr I jumped to Amplitude's forums to see what is new and there's a lot of it. The main problem in ES were IMO battles. Those, however nice the idea of eliminating the micromanagement is, were dull. The cards were too powerful, people mostly used the same ones every time, and there was nothing else. This time the battle cards will be just a cherry on the top and by the looks of it, we'll get to see the whole battle cinematic in one piece. Following this link you can read up on battles, though other developer diaries are worth taking a look at, too.

September 8, 20169 yr Hmmm, the battles do not look very convincing. They take too long and all one can do is set a path for the ships - at least from what we saw. I'm against micro but that is very little influence.
