  3. well see...this is my first time playing apocalypse...i've benn playing X-COM ever since UFO came out...but i could'nt get apoc until last year (a friend of mine works at a computer and game store called "Micro Nation" and he ACTUALLY had the X-COM collector's edition) so i dumped my old DOS versions in the attic and have used my collector's edition since then...have'nt had too much game time anymore,so i've been slowly progressing on apoc for the last two months now...my current score is 53K...i'm gonna be working on the third building tomorrow...

  5. bio-drones for me...dammit,i get sooooo stressed fighting those guys...it's cause they're so small and they explode almost bigger than the sonic pulsar...i once responded to a terror site on a ship,and cornered a bio-drone (who happened to be the last alien alive,little bugger was trying to hide) in a small stairway area...now my guys can't shoot directly up...so i had to try to get them up high without being shot...i i would've taken it with my sonic pulsars,but too many civi's in the way...i ended up sacrificing a man in order to kill the lil bastard...explosion got him after three shots hit the drone...oh well...at least the civi casualties of that explosion were not "civilians killed by X-COM"....see what my sonic pulsars would have caused me???
  6. my question is (not complaining) what does the speed of a being have to do with strategy making anywho???...the TU's determine the distance that the being can move...the speed changes nothing for it...it's not like he's gonna dodge the bullets...
  7. i think that the answer (or scientific answer) to the shield/toxigun question is, the shield and all alien weapons are made of alien organic materials....the toxins were made special,they were designed to screw up anything of the alien DNA...then it was made to also take out the micronoids...the shield must be generated not only with the demensional power source,but with the organic shield's own bio-electricity...with that,the toxins in the toxi-darts are able to pass unaffected by the shields....must be a coating or something...

  9. well NKF...yes i have been using the three medium accurasy mods below the six small shields...it fits well and i'm not really having any problems nailing a small craft from even the MER of the disruptor beams...small shields give 200 and the large shield only gives 400...if u mix that with three small,u have 1000...mix the six small shields though and u have 1200...the only thing i've been using the X-COM accurasy mod for is the $8,000 dollars of cash each one gets me...today i just became a millionare!!!...also...the newest weapon i found today was the demension missile...took on the food supply building today...am i any closer to getting those teleporters by the order of the technology?
  10. speaking of stun launchers...i have a quick question...i know this is a bit off topic...but somebody tell me whats up with this...the other day i was playing TFTD and i raided an alien colony....a lob shot one of my guys with a STUN launcher.....instead of exploding and knocking my dude out cold,it hit him like a regular bullet and instantly killed him,and he was wearing aqua plastic armour and was at full health....what the hell??? :alien2: : sir...i just shot a guy with a stun bomb traveling at a high velocity and it went straight through him...literally....can i keep this thing? : soldier...you will bring that weapon to the science labs at once!!!
  11. the last nutty thingy i did was a week ago on apocalypse...i'll put in the the X-COM world.... Calvin Ishi-Squad Leader,hired from the muton allegance,highest psionic skill on team... Arms: one devestator cannon,two AP grenades,two stun grenades,one IN grenade,one medkit,one vortex mine,one personal disruptor sheild,one mind bender Armour: full Marsec flight suit After the loss of seargent Kevin Dodge in a UFO recovery mission,Ishi's best friend, Squad leader Ishi felt that he needed to take his anger out on somebody... He ran out of the base and into the garage where he grabbed his blazer turbo bike and rode off into the night...afetr about five minutes of being AWOL,he decided to make his stop at the Temple of the Apocalypse,owned my the Cult of Sirius... After his unwelcome entry,Ishi cold heartedly slaughtered over twelve men and women while stuffing two psiclones in his pockets,then commited an act of arson by tossing his IN grenade and deliberately burning the room that looks like,or what used to look like,a sanctuary...he returned to The Hive (my base name) and parked his turbo bike...after selling his newly aquired psiclones,he went to his quarters and bedded for the rest of the night....the bodies were found the very next day...Police chief Wiggum said that he and the rest of Megapole would not be doing anything about it because they simply did not care...(besides...the cult raided megapole a few days earlier)...end of story... (hey...don't look at me that way...i did'nt expect to live through that lil incident...it was just a lil play thing i wanted to to before i got off of the game...but i watched a psionic master take out an entire temple of cultists...lol)
  12. actually...i'm on medium difficulty and still have'nt gotten the personal teleporter yet....what the hell is up???....i've never beat apoc yet and am still working on it....currently taking on my second alien building...also...is there any disruptor armour that flies???...cause i have my disruptor armoured personell with marsec flyer torsos...I NEED MY FLIGHT MAN!!!!....i found a solution to my UFO incursion problem....every week or so i send two retaliators and two ahnialators into the alien demension...armed to the teeth with large disruptor beams and medium on the ahnnialators...and medium disruptors on the retaliators...i don't use the large shields on the ships either...they only give 400 in protection and take too much space...i use the small ones...just 2 of them will give u 400...so my retaliators carry four...and my ahnialators carry six...so they're pretty well protected...one retaliator can take on a battleship by itself!!!....i send them in and destroy any alien craft that fly.....then come back and can spend all my time robbing the government of its cash every week for doing nothing...lol...and sit back building all my stuff and selling it and making ships and stuff...i've never beat this game yet and have already found out how to make a little over $400,000 a week...i own three buildings...The Hive (original base),Main Laboritories (full of only biochemistry labs and quantum physics labs,and X-COM Arms (full of only big and small workshops)...he lab and arms are both heavily guarded with security stations at the lifts,and all android soldiers...but anywho....i play with complete strategy...and only use 7 men in every mission...disruptor shields are a MUST HAVE!!!
  13. hey...here's a question...what the hell were the deadly effects or brain eating effects that a psiclone caused in the megaprimus youth or whoever the hell was using them...was that just a scare tactic created by the government or what were these cool little things actually doing that was physically bad???....(besides throwing sensovision off the board almost)
  14. hell...i never use lightings...never even take the time to build them...if ur gonna be landing somewhere...why do u need to do it fast???...it'll stay there till u get there...even if it's a terror site...lightning is just like NKF said...an elerium eater... it's only a troop transport at that...no tanks...it's best to stick with the skyranger...until of course the avenger comes along...well anywho....if u already got a lightning,u should already have the ability to get hover tanks...do u have them yet?

  19. umm...there is a flaw on that part.....i've been gunned down plenty of times while on the single lifts......they tend to get underneath u and spot u....then they simply fire up...hell, they can use snap shots to take u out because it's not possible to miss u from there...so even if your wearing armour,you're dead...(unless of couse the alien is tentaculat or is'nt carrying a weapon.......use with caution...
  20. well...i've reloaded a few times on apoc....but the stunman i lost was able to capture a micronoid aggregate....i had one HELL of a time getting my hands on one....but then he was shot and droped unconcious and critically wounded....though the stunman was using a stungrapple,when i first open the doors of a UFO i usually toss a stun grenade in there to avoid the poppers (who are usually the first contact when the level starts) but the guy who threw the grenade tossed it way off target and my stunman got caught in the gas....so he had a severe amount of stun on his blood meter...still...i knew there were aggregates around,so i needed him to stun one....i only play in turn mode now because of the fact that the aliens have become grenade whores andi like to avoid them by killing them before they throw it....the bastards have formed a new weapon though...their own corpses are now a weapon...they run up into my groups and expect me to shoot them...and u probably know what happens from there....it's like they are carrying the dead man's switch...he arms a vortex mine to detonate on impact,then puts it back into his pocket...u drop him and he goes BOOM!!!...then i lose like three guys because when one guy dies from the blast,his explosives ALSO happen to go off...and then starts a chain reaction with whoever dies in the blasts...stupid AI!!!!!...STOP BEING SO SMART!!!
  21. really it all depends on how many soldiers u got inside there...if you're using only a few soldiers inside the entire base, u are gonna hafta pull off the spot and shoot one time method...then move your ass to cover...but with your soldiers scattered everywhere, u wanna do what u can to at least pair all your men into groups of two...start moving closer to eachother so that if u do bump into any hostiles,your men will be getting closer and closer to eachother...again u might wanna pull off a hit and run technique...fire one time and then hide...UNLESS IT'S A TENTACULATE!!! (u see one and u better do whatever it takes,even with one man,to drop the creep) unless u have a nice hiding spot,like inside one of the tiny rooms (that have two doors and really no purpose at all inside of a base)...but in all,just try to move your men into pairs and keep well hidden before the end of every turn...

  25. hmm...i have'nt beat apoc just yet....i just barely got myself into the alien dimension and am already annoyed by many different things...i've got my first retaliator made and have already lost it to a battleship on it's first flight...I EVEN HAD A SHIELD ON IT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!...anywho....but the biggest thing that anoys me now is the fact that some of my guys will begin to bleed and get stunned at the same time...so there is nothing u can do about their wounds,and they will keep losing blood and never wake up because the stun gauge goes as fast as the blood gauge...so the only thing u can do is hurry your ass up and take out all the aliens....i ended up losing my best stunman because of ONE stupid skeletoid who i found HIDING ON TOP OF THE ROOF of the UFO....so what annoys me the most is that u can only use med-kits to heal yourself....but in like UFO and TFTD u could heal others (though u could'nt heal yourself...i like the old way better)
