I think the main issue I have is like others have mentioned, people sometimes appear to be behind walls but you can shoot them anyway... so to that I have to basically just figure that if they are in half cover, I can shoot them, regardless of what the graphics are telling me. But I can get past that, I enjoyed the 2nd mission and now I'm anxiously awaiting Oct 9th so we can get the real show on the road.
  2. Do we know if there will be a game mode where the Alien HPs will not be visible? I would definitely prefer that.
  3. 1. If there is multiplayer, will there be a co-op feature, where you and one or more people can navigate the game story together? 2. Will psionics be in this game and to what extent? 3. Will the blaster launcher be in this game? (the way point weapon)

  5. Wasn't it like, if a higher ranking officer went down the lower ranking guys would start to panic or something.
  6. Why can't I play this game now The side base view is great I think, although I'm curious how this will play out during a base defense mission. I do hope that they did not remove base defense out of the game, that would be very disappointing.
  7. Damn it. I think the game looks great!! But its just not right, I can't get behind this combat system. It works for Frozen Synapse, but just does not translate well to this game. I so wish it was the classic turn based game, it would be so much more fun to play. It doesn't help that the demo mission is insanely difficult to boot, but still. Another major complaint I have is that I feel that I'm getting shot when I'm behind cover. I can go prone behind a big boulder, but once I'm spotted I'm basically getting shot, and its hard to tell, because it seem as if I'm in a well protected spot, but I guess not? So yeah, all in all, very disappointed, especially because I really like the look and feel of the game, just not the combat system

Oh yeah all good stuff so far, naturally the change from TUs to what they're doing is still the biggest concern, but I feel like these guys love the game as much as I do, and if they feel its for the better, than who am I to argue I LOVE the idea that your base is alive and people are moving around it, not just random figures, but YOUR specific soldiers that you see. Also love the idea of a memorial where all the fallen soldiers are listed... So far its just awesome on top of more awesome!

I feel like they talked about the 1 base thing in some other interview.... mostly the same thing most of us are thinking, the extra bases we built were more for radar coverage and specialization like science base or whatever. Its really not a big loss I don't think, the main base is where the action is at anyway

  11. Two more parts to the interview coming soon!!! I want to know about 2 things: 1. Destructible environments.. can you take down an entire building or will it hover in place if you annihilate the 1st floor? 2. Squad limitations. Those are my only 2 hot topics at the moment.
  12. I think the only thing I'm not happy with here, is that I get the impression that suppression fire absolutely and positively cannot actually physically hurt an enemy, even if you get lucky... Am I misinterpreting that?
  13. Ahem, for those that suggested Grenades or the use of a Rocket Launcher in this scenario... Do you remember what happens in the old game when you throw a grenade or fire a rocket in the vicinity of a gas station? Not to say that I won't do it just to see shit blow up, but if I want to live, I'd probably be a bit more cautious in this scenario.

  15. Whoa? Where did you get this from? I know there is an initial limit, but I've not seen anything to suggest that it won't be lifted as the game progresses... It would be very dissapointing. I always loved taking 20 guys on a mission and then let the survival of the fittest game begin!! Really? That Xenonauts vid looks like poop to me. Graphics are still very dated. UFO2:ET I think has the better shot at success if by some reason Firaxis fails. Also lets not forget the ability to mod the game... someone can take the Firaxis game and perhaps change things

These guys are just as big of geeks as we are over the original game, so I have complete confidence that if they prefer this new movement system over the traditional TUs, then I will also be happy with it no no no... needs to be 100% turn base, which I think it will be. I hate real time anything in these games, I love moving each guy in position, leap frogging from corner to corner, etc.. etc... ^^^^^ This + 100000000 Internetz!
  18. I find it odd that he isn't asked to at least be an adviser on the project, I mean, clearly he wants to be involved, so its very strange to me that the offer is not extended. If I was Firaxis and I was tasked with remaking X-Com the first phone call I'd make would be to the father of the original masterpiece himself! And not surprisingly he makes excellent points. AI should be improved and destructible environments should be used very well in this new game, hopefully Firaxis nails those aspects.
  19. Very nice.. although I don't want to see more, not on the alien front, I want to be SURPRISED when I encounter them But if they keep posting articles, I obviously can't help myself, I have to look!! OH THE HUMANITY!!
  20. One of my big questions is regarding destructible environments... I know they will be there, but is it like the old one where you take out the first floor and the rest of the building floats, or will it all come crumbling down now?

  22. Now we're talking, the last screens were so so, these screens are much more like what I'm envisioning. Holy crap I think I need to change my underwear.
  23. So what do you guys want to see fixed from the original? For me Psionics while fun, ruined the end game. It made everything insanely easy, so I hope to see some tweak on that. Also the Blaster bombs, fun, yes, overpowered, very much so. Perhaps they can make those insanely harder to get or the ammo super expensive. Other thoughts?
  24. Too early for anything at this point, too early to make any judgment really. Its all there so far, and base defense will certainly be interesting with that many levels if I'm reading that correctly. Obviously the gfx in the combat stage need to be vastly improved, those sprites don't look so hot, but that's expected from an early screen shot. I don't want the game to look like the aftermath games and what not, I still want it to have that old school feel but with sharp graphics... its a tough challenge, the toughest of all, to capture the "feel" of the original.
