  1. Flush with the success (and cash) of Sins of a Solar Empire, Stardock has announced that they're publishing Gas Powered Games' Demigod. Find out more about Stardock's new distribution platform Impulse in an interview at Gamasutra.
  2. THQ is coming clean about Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II with the official announcement.
  3. Ok, how is it that no one is excited about this? Personally, I like that they seem to be going with more of a squad focus.
  4. Stardock's Brad Wardell let Wired in on the news that there's an expansion in the works for Sins of a Solar Empire. That's right, they're fixing one of the most common complaints about Sins: the lack of a campaign. This should go a long way in convincing many doubters to pick up the game.
  5. Holding off from picking up Sins of a Solar Empire due to the lack of a demo? Then you're in luck because the 536mb demo is now available at Gamespot, File Front, and Gamer's Hell. I'd love to give my own impressions, but a nasty flu has left the idea of playing an RTS (or RT4X) with hundreds of little ships flying around less than appealing. Try it yourself and let us know what you think.
  6. Our partners at Taktikzone have published an in-depth preview of Hired Guns, which is soon to be released in Germany. The preview is in German, but there's several new screenshots for us English-speaking folks to ogle. Here are their main impressions of the game with a little help from Babelfish: But wait, there's more! Taktikzone also has a Hired Guns interview for you to check out.
  7. Thank you, sir. Now we know we can safely ignore anything that mentions "MicroProse Blue" and just pay attention to their "MicroProse Red" projects. Sorry, I wasn't able to borrow my grandma's copy. That's right, Pete, I'm calling you an old woman for playing Railroad Tycoon. Oh snap etc.
  8. MicroProse (best known as publisher of strategy classics like X-Com, Civilization, Colonization, Master of Orion, etc) is back...but probably not in the way you'd expect. Classic Gaming has word on MicroProse's latest incarnation: That's right, MicroProse has relaunched as a hardware focused company, which is a bit disappointing. However, all is not lost for strategy gamers if this blurb from the new official site is to be believed: EDIT: Further information spotted at Wikipedia:
  9. Seems like a ploy by EA to convince the Take Two shareholders to push the Take Two heads to accept the offer. Their timing couldn't be worse, though, with GTA4 (aka big piles of cash) right around the corner and Bioshock being a recent surprise hit with a sequel on the way. Not to mention the regular rollout of 2K sports games.
  10. Earlier this week, Provox Games let loose the demo for Spaceforce: Captains, a turn-based space strategy title. While the only review I've seen makes it sound not too promising, it'd be nice to hear what StrategyCore readers think of it. Grab the 684 mb demo at Gamer's Hell or Strategy Informer and share your impressions.
  11. Nuclear Graveyard, a free squad-level tactical game, has given in to its Laser Squad inspiration and been renamed Laser Tactics. Here's a brief description: Read up on it here and then grab the download. Spotted at Free Gamer.
  12. Agreed. There is a combat speed slider (the speed in the video is the default) so you can speed it up, although that probably won't help with the hits and dodges looking too similar some of the time. They've definitely probed the various download services, but I don't know about Steam. AOD might not have enough mainstream appeal for a giant like Steam. The downside of these services is that they generally take a 40% or so cut. Of course, it'd be worth it with Steam just for that crazy exposure they provide. Time for another interview, this time at the Random Gnomes' Random Lair. There's also a breakdown of some of the combat options in a turn so have a look.
  13. Our friends in the Russian Federation have been blessed this week with the release of 7.62: Reloaded, the stand-alone expansion to squad-level tactical game 7.62. Here's the list of features with a little help from Babelfish:
  14. The wait is over: Sins of a Solar Empire had its official release today. If you're still sitting on the sidelines, have a look at this detailed gameplay walkthrough. Or wait for the demo expected in about a month. And of course, don't forget to read StrategyCore's preview.
  15. As Gimli already knows, there's an entertaining AOD interview up at Rock Paper Shotgun.
  16. With Sins of a Solar Empire just having gone gold, we thought it would be a good time to reveal StrategyCore's look at the recent beta build. Our own Space Voyager took Sins for a spin and wrote up his impressions of the self-proclaimed first RT4X.
  17. How can that be a bot? The post was both beneficial and informative, which we know is far beyond our current level of bot technology. Also, viagra cialis britney spears nude.
  18. Very solid review, Mr. Auto. Maybe this is the start of The Last Outpost getting updated more frequently than once every six months...
  19. Kerberos Productions have slipped out some new information on their secretive North Star project, the unrelated follow-up to Sword of the Stars. Here's the scoop:
  20. Just found out that it was cancelled by SFI a couple months ago. Disciples DS and Warlords DS were also cancelled, but Infinite Interactive is apparently looking for another publisher for the Warlords one.
  21. Very confident of much suckitude, but I'll have to see it regardless. Any movie featuring those awful, screeching creatures is automatically a must see for me. Plus, the fact that Will Smith didn't completely ruin I Am Legend gives me some (probably misplaced) hope for Hollywood.
  22. The second Age of Decadence video is out. Grab the 3 minute clip here.
  23. Happy Birthday! Hope your 23rd year will be as weird and twisted as mine was.
  24. Our Polish comrades over at Jagged Alliance Center were able to arrange an interview with Andrew Kazakov, head of the Jagged Alliance 3 team at F3 Games.
