  1. A full barrage of a HMG should cut through. I can't recall the name of the HMG I use, but it does a fairly quick job. You can also try head shots with a heavy rifle (or scoped rifle)
  2. If you have PKs, line up the rocket launcher guys so there is friendly units right in front of them... they almost always blow their mates to bits
  3. Spot can be raised by having a member of your own team hide and run around. A grenader in a PK suit is deadly. With 56APs, you have enough to: get out, run 10 APs worth, throw a grenade, run back in.
  4. Yup, that's why I use it. You don't usually need to worry about interupts until Hard or Impossible, but then it makes it very useful to ensure the enemy gets no chance to fire back.
  5. I had 2 very re-producatble chain-explosion bugs... I removed all mobs from those two and was able to shoot barrels that before caused the crash. If you're not running any mods, and still experiencing crashes, then try changing to 16-bit color.

    my broken arm

I'd suggest a pencil in the teeth to target... rather than your nose
  7. My latest campain is 2 snipers and a soldier. The custom sniper (10 int, 8 dex, 2 str) is awesome at hiding and shooting. I picked the soldier with 7 str so he's pretty decent at chucking grenades. All in all, this three-man-group works very well... the snipers sneak up and spot, the soldier runs in and chucks a couple grenades, then everyone switched so SMGs/HMGs and mops up
  8. I belive it appears anytime... but only in one specific location (someone on the Nival forums suggust it's near the '6' on the map...?) BTW: I ran into these guys with my greenhorn group... even before I did any other mission. Turned my group of three level 2 troops into a fine red mist in 2 turns
  9. LOL. rude. The worst I did is headshot a poor scientist (I was aiming at his captor's leg)... pretty funny to see the double damage (hit the poor guy for over 100... the captor only got hit for 30-something)
  10. Hmm... I don't think it's weight, but it might be speed. My grenader with 9 str can run faster than my two snipers (all 3 with full packs)
  11. Or you can be a complete cheese-head like me and armor everyone up except your main Scout... and sneak through the entire building finding clues, then Ray Gun the boss and hit 'Leave' With the PK suits on, you're impervious to his mortar shells
  12. Farm Northern Britain (ahem Scotland  ) for the Katana... makes a great lockpick
  13. Well... not entirely true. In Hard mode, you don't get to see the objective details, but you'll still know if you haven't finished one because it will show up as "Unknown Objective" or some such. Only after you find a clue/person/whatever do the details become clear in Hard mode. Which really makes no sense to me... why are we going to location X if we don't know the reason? You'd think HQ would give you some breifing rather than just "Go here... you'll figure out what to do." /shrug
  14. With the 'cheap' lockpick, I usually try 3 times. With the 'better' one (t he one that looks like a swiss army knife) I only try once. The HMG makes a much better lockpick
  15. The heavy frag grenades are very good at leveling a small house. I love shooting the flammable barrels with the silenced SMG... poor enemies never know what hit them
  16. Impressive. I haven't sunk that low in my obsession, but I do find myself right-clicking my browser to change the angle so it is more readable
  17. I love those little throwing stars. At only 5 AP to throw, you can do hella damage with them (my scout was getting over 100 on some hits). cheap, silent, highly effective. The only drawback is the range (so you do need to have very good hide to use them).
  18. I'm thinking it only ends if the hero dies right? So I'll just outfit everyone but her in plasma PKs and have her sneak into the office room and hide [edit] - textbook execution. I had all 5 PKs lined up in a row, firing ever time they had LOS. The best thing is only one of them was uncovered this time (he died of course). Everyone else just shot away until the cut scene, then my scout went down to melee the chick to death So I've restarted again with a party of 3, Hard, Axis... I have the Charlie's Angels team too... all girls
  19. Heh, maybe that's my problem, I'm trying to do it with none of them dying I still think I'll restart from the Urals and grab every single TG Ray suit I can find... I know I don't have more than 2 or 3 atm.
  20. I've tried this mission 4 times, the first three with 4 TG Ray PKs... no go (everyone dead in 4 rounds, main villan still at 1000+ VP). The last time, I went in with no PKs and rushed everyone into the upper 'control room'. This worked (ie. everyone lived), but without TG Ray bazookas, I'm helpless there... I must have used over 100 rounds trying to head shot that b**ch My thought is to restart from the lower Urals mission (my last 'non-auto' save) and grab every single TG Ray weapon I can find. :?
  21. What does the Sea devil map look like? I've been hunting for that damn rifle for two days. PM me if you prefer.
  22. LMAO, instead of throwing an exception, the game kills your character
  23. Gotta agree with ShadowHunter... PKs draw enemy fire like moths to a flame. I use mine as APVs, move up slowly, wait a round, jump out and snipe, then pop back in Or follow one PK and just duck behind for cover (gotta watch for grenades or RPG troops though).

    The PK thread

Another note of interest: Don't worry about ammo for your PKs, once you find them, return to your home base. The PK tech there will 'magically' have all ammo types for every type of weapon you've found. This seems a bit cheesy to me, and I'm hoping on harder skill levels that you don't get extra ammo.
  25. Dude, that's just cold. I usually heal up the injured ones. Remeber we are fighting this war to liberate these people. Or some such rubbish You can swap positions with friendly Civies... makes it easier to manuver around.
