  1. Hmmmm, i dont totally agree on this one. You dont have a fixed amount of xp given in a mission that have to be diveded among your soldiers. Its not like you get lest say 2000 xp for a mission and that is 400xp per soldier if you brought 4 or 1000 xp per soldier if you brought 2. I experimented abit with this. Saving before launching the helicopter and doing the same mission multiple times, and bringing different amounts of soldiers. Not sure about the excast amount of xp I got but it was something like this 1 soldier : 400xp 3 soldiers : 1000xp 7 soldiers : 1800xp Make your own conlusion

    Laggy Gameplay

Using the 1.2 patch. On some missions the tactical combat is really laggy. It feels like I am playing on an old Pentium 100 The game just lags like if the game fails to update proparly, however I am able to move my mouse perfectly. just experienced this on a downed ufo mission, it was just to laggy to play so I aborted it and took another mission. this one went smooth. This laggy gameplay sometimes happens. dunno why. Have a fast computer and I have checked bencshmarks and drivers and other games, all is good..... Anyone else experiencing this?
  3. Just for note. There are two different speed stats on the caracter cheet. The normal one somewhere along with hitpoints and the other skills, and the one in the lower part of the cheet that tells you the actual speed depending on encumberance, how much you carry, capasity...
  4. I never figured out to do this either. On all missions to capture a live alien I had to wound atleast one and kill the rest to finish the misison...
  5. To get a sample of the biomass all you have to do is to do a mission on a place that is infected with the biomass. Its the same what kind of mission it is as long as it is on a area infected with the biomass. The easiest thing for me was actually to engange a ufo over infected land. If your planes got shot down it was just an easy pilot recovery mission. If you managed to down the ufo you ofc have to do a normal kill all grey inside the ufo mission. You dont hav eto pick anything up. As long as the mission is in a infected area and you complete it you will automaticly get the sample. You know you are in a infected area when your soldiers walk on a brown goofy stuff...
  6. Ill try that systems. However, do you have any idea where I can find such a utility? It only looks like its the scroll speed thats extremly fast though. The walking speed of soldiers and aliens are normal...
  7. Just found a windows version of ufo : enemy unknown that works on my wk2 computer All the memories It actually works ok, the only problem is that when I move the mouse to the end of the screen to scroll it scrolls from one side of the map to the other...its just to fast...difficult to find that guy of yours in the middle of the map ....
  8. What Id really like to campare is how much xp you all get after a mission... If I play a mission with 4 soldiers I get about 700-1200 xp on average total, and when I play with 7 soldiers I get an xp of about 1000-1600 on average. How much does you usually get?
  9. I remember I played one of the UFO games along time ago, think it must have been 7 or 8 years ago atleast, not sure though. It was the one where you had the flying suit, interceptors, avangers, blaster bombs etc.... What I hope is that someone can explain the different games to me. How many games has been releases, whats their names and does anyone know what platform they where meant for... Id really like to play some of the old games and hope that someone can help me

    Snipers

They are abit usefull. I never train a soldier though to become a sniper, but I rather let the soldier who has the best markmanship carry a sniper rifle in his back pack. The only time I use them are when fighting mutants that paralyze. There are a couple of monsters that can paralyze from a great distance. So i equip the sniper rifle to take them out from a safe distance....takes afew hit thoughs.....because as you said the dmg isnt that big.
  11. The reason I said that I belive they get the same amount of xp regarless of who does the killing is because on one mission I had four soldiers with me. One of them just stood in a corner the entire time but still got enough xp to lvl up. i checked how much that idle soldier got and I think it was about 20% of the total xp if I remember correctly....
  12. Does anyone know how hthe xp system work in UFO? So far I have figured out that after a mission, when the report says you have earned...lets say 1200 xp, then those 1200 xp are devided among your solders. I belive that each soldier gets about the same amount of xp regarless if they did all the killing or just stood idle. What I`d really like to know is.....I know that the xp you get after a mission is devided among your soldiers. But does the number of soldiers you bring on a mission affect the total amount of xp you get....? I have done some checking on a scouting mission. I saved before I tool of from the base. During the scouting I only ran around without killing any monsters. First time I did it with two soldiers and got about 400 cp total witch is about 200 each. I then did it with 6 soldiers and got about 800 xp. That is about 150 each. The monsters there where different though on the two tries. So know I wonder if the xp varied because I had more soldiers with me or becasue the monsters where different..... Any ideas?
  13. Finished the game without ever beeing able to manufacture power cells. According to the list I didnt have alien power cells. But I know that I have gotten many of em after missions.....strange, anyone else have this problem?
  14. I must actually admit I like the plasma weapons. Or one that is. The enhanced plasma rifle is pretty ok. Have a decent range and does 750 dmg I think. I had four guys using those weapons. And one shot from the group of four was enough to usually drop an alien. However, the reload time and the low lvl of charges was not so good. So the weapon is not good when fighting many enemies, but it worked great when running around inside bases, atleast for me...
  15. I am pretty sure the game is event based. So you should do all the engeering and research before doing the area 51 mission and other event missions. You will know what kind of mission drive the plot line when you see them.
  16. Just finished the game, and I mostly enjoyed the gameplay. Ill not go into that issue though I played through the game using only 4 caracters. What I wanted for my caracters was high strength and high agility. The reason for this was that I wanted good hitpoints and speed and I wanted my soldiers to be good at throwing and rifles. I choose the 2 first caracters you started with and waited until I had two more soldiers with a good str and agility, then I only used those four on every mission. I played the game halfway through with regular weapons, changing them often to find out what was best. The game was hard and it didnt get any easier. So i decided to start over. On my second try at the game, as mentioned with 4 soldiers I think I did 80% of the mission with only using granades. I must admit I dont like it, it takes alot of the fun away and makes the mission kinda the same... Thing is, the granades are extremly powerfull. one granade is enough to kill almost every mutant and one granade will kill several of em if they are close together. With four soldiers you can also take out any kind of alien regardless of what kind of armour they use. Another god thing with granades is that you can through it over cars, through doors etc. So if you see a monster behind a corner you can just get out of his view and through a couple of granades close to where you think he is. And granades are free, so no point in saving em. Trick is when a mutant is charging you, dont target him with the granade, but target the area infront of him, so that when the granade axplodes the mutant will be within the blast radius. When you encounter monsters who use weapons this is not a problem either. If you build your caracters so they have a speed of excellent or better and good hp (high strength and agility) they can run within throwing range of the monsters, through the granades, kill em and still suffer less dmg then if you where trying to use normal weapons/rifles. Equip one granade and one healing pack in each hand, so if you get hurt abit you can easly change to heal pack and heal yourself. I think the only times my soldires had to spend some time in sickbay was after entering crashed planes and alien bases. When you meet aliens with rocket launchers I think this is the best solution to take em down. You have four soldiers who can run fast. When you see a missile incoming you can just run sideways and avoid the blast. Just keep running/zigzagging until you are within throwing range and those four granades will take the alien out. The area 51 base was actually pretty easy wen I used this strategy( after a few tries ofc ) After I completed the russion base mission I always let my soldiers carry a plasme rifle with them. I didnt use them often but when I did, 1 hit from each of those four soldiers was usually enough to drop any alien dead(depending on range) For armour I used sun armour as soon as I got it, upgarded to sky armour as soon as I got it and later bio armour.. My strategy inside alien bases and ufos was usually to wait in a room and let the laines come to me. When I saw one I bombarded the entire room with granades, ususally killing the alien I spotted pluss one or two others that I hadent seen yet.... I know this was not the most funny way to play the game, using 2-3 different weapons....Thing is I noticed it worked and continued to use it. Perhaps they should remove the unlimited supply of granades..... Whats your ideas?
