  1. Is this +1000 your resource income or a total amount you had. If it's total and you've started production of something big(I still have no idea, as the most expensive thing for me now is a school which costs 200 low tech units), then there's no surprise you run out
  2. Finally I've found that. I've decided to look, what if I leave them as is, so I set the time on max and didn't do anything waiting and finally after 4 days or so they attacked my base. So the only way of dealing with them is nearly total extermination (besides one base, that is). So I will take that fight, but it should be rough i fear. I have one machinegun, shotguns and laser rifles, so nothing to level up with cultist range with their snipers
  3. Finally after two months of playing I've the opportunity to do battle with them. (Yes! I do play very slowly, I know). The Cultists appeared some time ago (a day or so of game time), but I haven't made the contact with them until now. Recently they decided to attack one of the explored provinces, so the locals called for help. So now I'm thinking: to answer that call or not. The downside of rejecting this mission is that the Cult will win another territory, besides in close proximity to my own belongings, which is dangerous. Also the relations with the Cyborgs, which own this land will deteriorate. Although I've noticed that when I reject a help mission against mutants or reticulans, the game says the relations deteriorated dramatically. Here I've tried to reject and it was said they just deteriorated. Is that because the Cultists is more serious enemy and I am not at war with them yet, so I am not penalized so much? Well, I'm thinking, if I let them take that province, will they remain neutral to me and just will continue expanding just like I do, not attacking me, or they are hostile from the very beginning no matter what the relations with them are, so they will attack me sooner or later as His Majesty The Random Generator decides.
  4. What an icon? I have a minus sign under the cursor when I click the "Track" button but it still allows me to build tracks. You only need to select the appropriate province, and when you select it it must turn blue. Then you can build tracks there. Also, you can't connect bases that don't have direct connection. That is, if there are some provinces between them that don't belong to you, you can't connect this bases. Ports can be connected with each other only if there is a thin blue line between them appearing when you select one of the ports. So, it's all I can tell by now. Beyond that your guess would be as good as mine. P.S. Try to build land tracks one segment at a time (to the adjacent province). Maybe that will help
  5. And the best is to kill all the aliens except that one. The mission will be completed then. I hope this works every time
  6. There are 2 vfs tools for Aftershock that work with savegames (since theay are also vfs) located here and here. Also there's a plugin for Total Commander which I find the most useful.
  7. For me it was in the demo, though I managed to heal him. What is strange is that a Morelman spits sometimes, but I though that was some acid or such. Or is it referred also as burning damage?
  8. Burning, like all other effects, passes over time. The source of this effect is not necessarily be present all the time. So you might be well away from the flames, but as long as you have this aura, you will be burning. And medkits seems to be the only way to keep the poor soul alive if he (she) isn't healthy enough
  9. Yeah, I already now that. With nearly hundred threads it's difficult to read all in the first place. But I think I'll give it one more try. If not then I turn to this exploit. This means five times for the single province
  10. For me the firearms research appeared after I've got the shotgun (and before I've completed the basic weapons research), so try dropping this.

    Income?

Thanks. I thought tracks are only for connecting bases.
  12. In Russia Aftershock is sold by 1C both on DVD and on 4CDs. As for the images, I remember reading somewhere about workaround for Alcohol images to work through Starforce. But I can't remember where.

    Income?

From what I can understand, if I get the resource territory belonging to the country whose capital is not in my posession, I won't recieve resources from it even if I build tracks to that province. I need to get the capital and link it to the transport net. Is that correct?
  14. First time it happened to me was when I was helping psionics. The province contained alien resources - the only one that was diminished, so I needed it badly. What was my disappointment, when after the mission I discovered the province remained neutral. Immediately I initiated another mission there also being a help mission only to discover afterwards that the province still remained neutral! As ill luck would have it, it happened with the province containing resources I needed most. The only good point in that is that my relations with psionics improved considerably
  15. That is most likely. Hmm, how to turn them on then? (In game they are turned on, of course) 5.1 Version of Catalyst offers Control panel that requires .net framework. I don't want to install it simply for having a neat looking settings window. Well, I think it's time to Google out some other prog.
  16. It seems that most enemies are outside ship (from what I can tell so far and frankly speaking it's not so far ) The first mission on such map was in Scotland in Psionics land. It was the biggest map I've seen and the ship was big with 3 level labyrinth of intersecting corridors. I've spent around 3 minutes of game time (and around hour of real) only to discover it was empty. So I suggest looking outside first
  17. Hi all! Finally I've decided to look what this UFO series is and I must say I've changed my attitude completely. I didn't play Aftermath and didn't want to bother to, but now I see this game (Aftershock at least) has much of it's spiritual precursor (even though it is not truly turn-based), so I'm all into it now. Well, enough of this preamble, the reason I post here is that I fear I have some problems with the vid. The specs are following: AMD2500+, 512 RAM, Radeon 9200 (Sapphire Atlantis 9200SE). The game runs smoothly (not counting a bit long loading times - around 10 to 15 seconds when loading tactical map) on highest settings (BTW, 1024*768 is the only resolution(as said in the FAQ) or not?) with shaders turned on. But the last is the problem from what I can understand. They are not displayed alltogether. For example (I think I can post some shot later) the capsule is displayed completely different from what I've seen on the shots. Besides, what is more important, the LOS button is greyed out and the indication of line of sight is therefore not working. I fear that different view modes besides normal wouldn't be available either (although I haven't got any equipment yet, so I can't confirm that). The card itself is capable of working with 2.0 shaders which I think is used in the game and the driver version is 5.1 Catalyst (the later caused some problems so I've had to draw back to this one). So I wonder whether someone experienced the same problems and what could possibly be done to fix them? Or does that card lack something really serious (although functionally it should be the same as 9600 or 9800 series) so it will not display properly?
  18. Well, I'd better say it should weigh more than a regular X-Com rifle and use more TU, since shooting from sniper rifle is much longer than from asault rifle that the X-Com rifle to some extent is. Well, actually I know one that is. Though it is used in case of emergency only.
  19. I think Sasquatch was a flamer. Though he didn't annoy me personally.
  20. First of all. Zombie, I hadn't run any special tests on damage, my information is what I've acquired during the play. But I've killed or at least damaged more than 70 lobsters so it's about half of the amount needed (not to say that every one of them needed at least three shots to take down - and that was a very good roll). So it's not that small sample size. And damage was never greater than the amount I've indicated. Still, if I'll have some free time and strong inclination to do so, I run this test to be sure I'm right. Second. The OSG will really come handy, since the USG only indicates that Lobstermen are resistant to most types of attack, including HE, but without actual values. Maybe it is not 50%, as I supposed, but 25, so the damage values indicated in Ufopaedia are the average ones indeed.
  21. As was sometime ago said in this other thread, the game is planned for publishing on CDs (4 for the first part and 2 for each of the two add-ons ) As for X-FORCE, I've read about it somewhere in theese forums, although don't remember where, maybe in "Fan ideas for new games"
  22. Hmm, if it is multiplied by 2, then in my example the max damage would be 90 * 2 * 0.5 - 12 = 78 points. Never seen such values, nothing close. The max was, as I said, around 30. Well, I don't have such patience as Zombie to try it for say 1000 times , so maybe I hadn't ever seen max values.
  23. They are intelligent only so far as the player is
  24. Alas, this signature isn't my work! It's from some fortune I've found somewhere. I like it since it reflects in some way my own views And now, that the max length of the sig is much greater, I was able to present it at whole. As for this damn alien. What type of UFO was that? A large scout?
  25. Besides, the distance regular grenades are thrown, especially by strong soldiers, is making them (soldiers, that is) a walking intelligent grenade launchers. As for the initial question, I think that when the game was at the production stage, the creators hadn't too much money to pay for all this H&K or Colt or whatever else licenses. Besides, it was a sci-fi game and as we can see in many ways, not very realistic. I think that Gollops decided to make a small number of well balanced weapons than to die balancing dozens of them.
