  1. down a planter and the capture it, easy peasy Edit @ rezaf
  2. Sleeplessone you CPU is not designed to be FORCED to run that slow just the same as overclocking, slowing the CPU down that much is not a feature of the cpu it's no SUPOSED to be able to do it. and by doing it you invalidate any warranty you have on it. I've worked on tech support for PCs and believe me people screwing around with things like this can end in disaster and all i could do was refer them to thier warranty saying they have altered the operation of thier machine beyond it's intended use. As a result has damaged some of the hardware which we cannont be held responsable for. it's works just don't be suprised IF your cpu gets damaged
  3. if you look at the bottom right of the interface you got a bunch of buttons for walk/run, crouch etc 1 is move, click then then you can rightclick over the alien, once stood over them go into your inventory and you'll see the alien/mutant on the list of objects on the floor drag it into your hands
  4. if you use ANY program to underclock your cpu as low as some old games require you risk damaging your cpu. just a fair warning
  5. it was x-com enforcer the arcade game and i never even blinked at it. i do remember seeing x-com: alliance and wish it could have been finished, i wanted nothing more than to walk up to a sectoid in UFO:EU in firest person and blow his brains out

    Snipers

a sniper with heroic marksmanship and aliens skills can take down most things beforethe get into range
  7. that list of stuff goes into the chopper, if you hadn't recieved the message saying the chopper has returned then you won't hvae the weapons yet, even in a base capture mission you hvae to wait for the chopper returned message.
  8. simply put: hard ammo is as you say higher caliber weapons mainly armour piercing, now as it says on some of the autopsies on the aliens some of them are pretty soft and they don't feel pain so what use is blasing a little hole the size of an acorn in 1 if it aint gonna feel it? It'll just keep coming at you. Thats what sift ammo is for which is probably hollow tipped bullets, hollow tip is designed to do max damage to unarmoured or soft targets, as on the bullet leaving the other side it creates alot of pressure and blows a massive hole out the back. Against an armoured target soft ammo is just going to bounce off. so there is a reason to have several types of damage in your squad. Aliens that use sky armour are weakest to conventional weapons, hard, soft or universal. Aliens that use sun armour are weakest to energy weapons, burn, laser, plasma etc. so chose your weapons/targets carefully depending on the situation

    Bug Report

it's not turnbased combat it's realtime you just have the option to pause, and it does take time for someone to fall to the ground if they are injured
  10. rave use heavy armour, they should be able to withstand 2-3 rocket hits. even just keeping 1-2 heavy guys up front for when they launch a rocket at them it will do some damage but not kill them and give you enough time to take the alien down
  11. heavy armour is very good vs rockets it's the mond control thats a pain in the ass, it's ok with you can get the alien using mind control fast enough. You have a few secconds to take him down if you don't you have one of your own squad blasting the crap out of you. it's funny when they take control of a guy with a striker tho they just switch to burst mode and it's game over, really runny to watch tho Sindre, i really can't remember when biomass research starts, with 32 bases i take it you have done area 51, but have you done the stalingrad base mission? and can you see any biomass on the world map?
  12. if your having problems now your gonna REALLY struggle towards the stalingrad mission. most of the aliens are using laser weapons right? you using armour thats resistant to laser damage? use alien laser rifles cuz thier range rocks and don't go directly towards the target area, look for places that won't give the enemy chance to ambush you. most smgs tear through aliens with or without sun armour the shear rof is enough to take them down fast. use grenades when you know an alien is there but can't see it. don't give them ANY chance to take advantage of you, soo many times i've been ambushed by them and i could have avoided it simply by taking a different route or walking instead of running. i try to think like i'm playing ravenshield (Rainbow 6 game) there 1 false move and your entire team gets wiped out. And the planning interface is kinda similer in the way you can queue waypoints/orders including grenade throwing etc.
  13. well i'm that exact stage right now only problem is the frikkin aliens are using mind control on me ???
  14. i'm sure it says somewhere about planters holding the nodes ready to be placed, tried shooting down a planter and capturing it?
  15. you use heavy armour? i tried it on once and never looked back ??? too slow unless i would be using somekind of uber gatlin cannon

    Starting Tips

get some asault rifles asap, soon as the enemy start popping up with them and you don't have them your in trouble unless you know what your doing, they have FAR greater range tan anything you get to start with. capture bases early, the missions arn't hard with 1-2 rifle users and 1-2 uzi users and 1 guy with a pistol and some medpacks take as much ammo and medpacks as you can carry and do multiple mission without needing to return to base to rearm. Every bit of xp counts towards your soldier getting better DO NOT let sporeblowers get ANYWHERE NEAR close, think of them as floating mines
  17. ahh well, more to shoot
  18. ever tried picking up a car? in otherwords yes you need to find one you could actualy pickup yourself
  19. i have 2 people with assault rifles 1 has styer and other i can't remember the name but i remember it has FAST rof in burst mode. my team consists of those 2 assault rifles above, 1 with MP7, 2 with advanced alien laser rifles, 1 sniper (seccondary medic in close combat situations) and 1 medic with advanced laser pistol. Some have some heavy weapons that i change on the fly depending when i need them. i usualy have my 2 assault rifles and the mp7 upclose in base missions and let them tear apart anything thats stupid enough the get close, and the advanced lasers as longrange support. The assault rifles do nice as medium range fighters and help vs aliens in sky armour Edit: m00 depends on the type of ammo the gun uses, also the range of the MP7 is much less than the G3, and don't forget the MP7 is firing several bullents at once even if in aimed mode it fires a short burst
  20. or just leave it and eventualy your forces should take the base themselves, i've often been too busy doing something else then out of the blue it comes up saying "our forces have returned from ........ they were succesful" and found to be like an alien base they've taken over for me.... which was nice
  21. you have to use the move button or i think it's m on the keboard and then move normaly over the one you want to pickup. Go into the soldiers inventory then put your gun in your pack and drag the mutant into your hands. then move back to the green square
  22. i went a similer route to The.Donut only i decided to go in with the hevier stuff, eg SLAW, and some of those grenade launchers you see arnie using in T2 can't remember the name. but i think the big trick is using the pause button to keep moving your soldiers as the enemy rockets come in you can avoid them if your quick enough and spaced out well. All the while your pounding the hole in the wall where the aliens are stood with as much explisives as you can cram in there. i managed to kill all of them with only 1 person hitting the ground who i healed up after i was done dicing the last alien with an mp7! Edit: zowrath the blue armour is weak to conventional weapons and with 3 stayers plus a sniper i'm not suprised they went down easy
  23. yes m00 i believe they do i'm sure i've seen them lean round corners and other obstructions
  24. you get to do all the random missions and such, and some of the random mission you need to do because of the latest research developments. the set mission you can do more or less when you want but the longer you take the harder it will be later on
  25. it's different in AM. the combat is similer to apocapypse's realtime system, but you don't have snapshots and such, some weapon have 2 firemodes, aimed and burst. aimed - do i need to explain burst - similer to snapshot, less acurate but moreshots = more damage. burst is exelent in close range and some of the smgs can tear down a target in secconds, whereas the rifles are mix of range and closecombat and do well in both there are no action points, select your target and they will shoot untill it's dead, incapacitated or they run out of ammo, if your out of range they won't shoot. you get a % when your target an enemy on the chance you have to hit.
