Chrysallids have got to be in there, though I do have have to say I loved to loathe those gits just one of them taking your squad by surprise, when you think youve won can quickly wipe the smile off your face. Also those lobstermen, though not as scary as the ones I just mentioned, they are massively powerfull and unless you have powerfull weapons they can take your entire squad to pieces, if theres four or more of them coming at you I hope you have your running shoes on Good news though and Im looking forward to finding out

Sorry guys after all that he said he wasn't up for it. I will work on him but I wouldnt get your hopes up. I can get hold of a scanner so no problem on that score, and ive just spoken to my mate (Ross by name) and he asked to sleep on it before he gave me a definate answer. He sounded very interested and was tempted at having a blast at a few aliens/characters and perhaps spacecraft, he can storyboard as he has recently done one for a short film for a film student friend of ours but he is worried he isnt good enough for you. If he does agree I said that if he did the one piece of work to start off with and I showed that to you we would know if his style is what your after. Anyway I will let you know in a few days what his answer is, by the way I assume there will be plenty of new weapons, aliens, and armour etc so he doesnt need to worry to much about sticking to whats already been done in previous xcom games and he has free reign on what these creatures look like. If there is a certain set of rules or style these have to be in let me know so I can pass it on. Ross isnt the most confidant of people but he fights against it bravely so he may say no based on fear of failure, hopefully he wont and I will be there to badger him lol. I have one skill I can bring to bear if you need it. I am fairly imaginative and I enjoy writing though admittedly I usually dwell in the heroic fantasy genre, but if you need that skill I can offer up my meagre talent for you to heap scorn upon I hope you don't because then I will suffer from fear of failure

Unfortunatly he isnt on the internet and never will be, hes good with a pencil or a paintbrush but useless when it comes to computers, he would swiftly say that computers is my job and he's just the artist lol. I will ask him what he thinks of the idea first before you get your hopes up because I would hate to let any of you down. If he says yes do you want me to ask him to draw anything in particular so you can have an idea of what his abilities are and if they are the type of style your looking for?

I would agree with Jman, it does look realistic and very promising, the width just needs to be tweeked a bit but you were probably aware of that, good work though.

Hello Ive recently posted in another post saying i cant do anything to help and i still cant . But I do have a friend who is a talanted artist and is a massive fan of all things sci-fi, you have only to see his house to know what I mean. Hes a great bloke though and if you still need some concept art I could ask him to do some (if he says no we havent lost anything). You may not need this any more but if you do let me know what you need and i can see what I can do.

Hi I just wanted to say that I wish you all the luck in your project, which I look up on at least once a week. Im unfortunatly useless at art (never a skill of mine) and I doubt i could be much use elsewhere either (sorry) but if it helps i just wanted to say im behind you as much as i possibly can be (trust me to stand behind you and let some other guy do the work ) . I wish you all the best and I look forward eagerly to your cmpleted project even if I have to wait years for it im sure it will be worth the wait.

Im pretty sure ive got one in the loft but i will have to leave it untill tomorrow before i can get it, as my daughter is in bed and will wake her up by going into the loft. When I get round to it i will let you know how it goes.

Sorry BB your quite right the widtch is fine it's the horizontal which is playing up and no mater which refresh rate I have it on from 60hz to 75 hz has no effect on the height at all Also my pain of a monitor is all automatic when it comes to adjusting the screen size to fit a game which has always worked brilliantly up to now lol. Typical that it happens to one of my favorite games of all times. Ive got a similar but not completly the same problem with my LCD monitor, Ive used the patch file to play the game as the other is as you say pete pointless and completly unusable, and the graphics are perfect apart from the fact that it only plays in the middle of the screen at about 3 inches wide which isnt all that great. Any ideas anyone? In case you want to know my specs are as follows X2 4800+ X1900xt 512mb ATI graphics card windows xp service pack2 2gb ram asus motherboard standard floppy,hd,dvdrw, 600w psu etc I dont know if my specs will help or if it just seems like im showing off (sorry but I might be a bit im not totally sure) but I hope theres an easy fix and im just being thick, or it's back to dosbox and my original version of ufo EU which of course I love anyway. I forgot to add that ive tried changing the refresh rate with no joy and ive now also tried turning off direct draw in dxdiag with still no success

Apparently there is nothing we can do or offer to stop these terrorist attacks, they will continue untill all of the world join the religion of Islam. They believe that God has sent many phrophets including Jesus and Moses to help steer us onto the right path and Muhammed was the last of these prohpets and the bearer of his ultimate message Islam. They are under the impression that the west will crumble under continued threats and attacks and anyone who doesnt convert is deserving of death and it is there divine right to adminster it. Many Muslims believe that we should be talked round and let us make our own choice, but unfortunatly the hardcore minority wont be happy untill our countries are under the power of the ayatollah's like Iran or how the Taliban ran Afghanistan. I say no, I refuse to follow people who believe there god wants them to kill all unbelievers, who rules by fear and intimidation, if anything it smells of the work of satan if that being exists anywhere else except in our nightmares. Im not overly religious, but I like to think there is a god, so that there is an ultimate justice and even if you commit great evil and manage to get away with it in this life you will be held accountable in the next. Unfortunatly being a logical reasoning man I struggle to believe in a higher power of any kind but I like to think it's possible. Here endeths my sermon lol.

If you mean in the game I think it's the Ultra marines but you get to kit them out with your own choice of weapons just look out for the imperial containers in the missions as they give extra ammo and new and improved weapons. Once you have the master crafted plasma pistol and master crafted bolt pistol amongst other addons your assault squad becomes much more fun to use. I would have to agree with you, there are so many uses it could be put to, they could even make an RPG similar to perhaps the fallout games.

If they did turn down blizzard I hadnt heard of it but I suppose it's easily possible, Chaos gate was developed by Random games and mindscape I think, and even though it pales in comparison to xcom I think it's worth a look especially if your a GW adict. Its a turn based stratagy game where you get to increase the skills of your men as time goes by, and as you play more missions you have more weapons and squads at your disposal. Nothing new but a good little format and even though the side missions can be a little tedious standing there in terminator armour blasting away at a bloodthirster is a fun way to pass a few evenings. It's a little old now as it was released in 1998 but for it's age I think it's quite playable so it might be worth grabbing it if you see it on a shelf for a few quid (mind you I am biased being a wh40k adict myself).

Ive mentioned it before on the old website and dow post but has anyone played Chaos Gate recently that wh40k game which is turn based and is a great little game. I got mine in a budget twinpack with the wh40k epic game final liberation. I found it in a woolworths budget bin for 2 quid about 5 years ago. Im mentioning it not only because it has loose ties to this post and is a turn based stratagey game which is what this website is partially about, but mainly because im curious if anyone has come across any modding facilitlies for it on there tour through the web. I think I found a spacehulk conversion for it once and i will have another good look soon as I intend to play it once ive finished with ufo aftermath again By the way shagpuss if you read this post it has those infamous chaos cultists in it who are constantly shouting *for chaos* it would be intresting to see wether we could get them in the chaos smurf colours.

lol I think they breed them somewhere as the guys In games workshop near me are a little odd and you half suspect to see them on crime watch one day because they flipped and decided to take a machete to work with them other than that, there nice friendly bunch of people . I cant believe that guy swapped all the models for a novel, I wish I had met the fella first, Ive got the Leman Russ model with his two wolf brothers but ive got to say that 300 models for a novel is a bargain.

I used to love the randomness of that teleport gun. I played 40K almost everyday about 15 years ago and the orks were my favorite side, ive got out of some scrapes sacrificing some runts in the shock attack gun and even taking out a bunker with it, something along the lines of if you rolled a six (if you where lucky enough to hit the bunker at all) the runts landed inside some ammo boxes in the bunker and blew it to pieces , and I often took down a dreadnaught with it as the runts would teleport into the gears and clog it all up with mangled body parts. Fun days im a little gutted I dont enjoy playing the table top game like I used to, im hoping my daughter gets into it as ive got thousands of miniatures sitting in my loft.

The army ive been waiting for since day one is the tyranids, Gimme a carnifex and a lictor and perhaps a hive tyrant or two, the orks have room for improvement as well, for example where did the shock attack gun go, and the squig catapult.
