  1. that oughta teach you and your "Beta" team not to get so cocky when dealing with either trans and aliens.
  2. those days "original" games were almost non-existent in my country... so people like me (and heckuva lots of fans) had to play pirated copies of the X-Com series. to be frank, i'd buy now it if it was ever released here (and it was compatible with Win2K!).
  3. runnin on Win2K here and only had crashes when i try to save during an "xp exploit". no game bug for me so far.
  4. oh.. there was a game review of UFO:AM? was it on PC Gamer UK or US? I've been waiting for this game for so long, I didnt even bother waiting for or reading any reviews. went out got it. love it.
  5. haha.. Ghost Recon had pretty dumb NPC/Enemy AI but they were pretty good shots. Feel the same about Freedom's AI being the benchmark for a lot of games to come. Is Freedom Fighter mod-able? be nice to see someone do something else with it.
  6. nice post rocksk, you read my mind... and went miles ahead in sharing what you saw. it would make an awesome game indeed. i hear you can take up to 8 men in missions in Freedom Fighter..? I simply cant wait for sequel/follow up to UFO:AM, wonder how they would do it. so many executions, playing from 3rd person/1st person view does add dimension to strategic thinking. (i do love the current style of play where you see (almost) everything) its all in the programming isnt it? its coming up with ways to help enhance the AI in games.
  7. amateur soldiers... they're suppose to be elite and maintain radio silence and here they are shouting nonsense... hehehe cant stand them all, but got used to them now.. their voices just whisk past me, i barely hear them now.
  8. tried out that Chrysalid XP trick. what i did was cleared the whole place of other aliens (as mentioned) and after that the game gave the option to end or continue, hence moved all my men towards the Chrysalids and left them there overnight. woke up. click abandon mission and all my men got out OK... with loads of xp no need to save one man to take out the Chrysalids. also your men can move after a few turns, when the paralysis affect stops. just place some of your men at the edge of the Chrysalid's range, and you should be able to move your men out of their range to kill em if when the affects wears off... you wont be paralyse forever. one thing i did was save my Chrysalid XPing time periodically and this cause the game to have a fatal error. upon restarting, I got the same fatal error again and had to reload another save (whew! thank God i saved another earlier)
  9. hmm.. how about leaving it on for 6hours at nite and go sleep.. wake up next morning to take em out.. wonder how much xp i'll get...
  10. some like Neverwinter Nights Mod Tool would do fine for me... (including the speech/conversation bit)... that would make it a full fledge RPG game too
  11. personalities? sounds good, what about adding some character in too? having a bunch female soldeirs walk out on you in the middle of battle cos she's having PMS, a clumsy guy that keeps tripping and accidently shooting his team mates, or perhaps even some romance between soldiers... hahaha
  12. dunno why those chinese speak english in european accents
  13. thank God no one came up with some "aliens going back in time to take over the world and we follow them back and lose our technology so we have to research everything all over again" ideas
  14. making room for a sequel perhaps?
  15. yup, i'm still sane enough to remember that both are different games but sometimes i just cant help it that UFO:AM was created in the spirit of the X-Com. for me, X-Com did set the standard this genre. As great as UFO:AM is, I just cant help but get excited (its like a REVIVAL!! ) as to think of what the future has installed for UFO:AM.
  16. to add one more. camo armor of some sort (like the one in Ghost in the Shell where it makes you dissapear for some time)
  17. thought gettin zapped by the Crysillis was good? getting loads of xp... or was it something else?
  18. such a pity, always looked forward to some first person tactical squad based combat and the ability to kick some Rect's b@lls!! what actually happened to Alliance and Genesis? what kinda legal problem was it?
  19. wondered if anyone here played "Freedom Figther" (from EA)? the game is played in 3rd person view, and gives simple, basic commands for you to control NPCs that fight with you against the enemy. NPC AI pretty good, they cover you, dont die easily and attack/defend areas like you. now wouldnt this make another great UFO game? if only work on X-Com Alliance (was it Alliance or Genesis? i forgot) would continue.
  20. for Altar to attempt this game, i think they did farely well. just hope that they do another (sequel or expansion) and iron out things from what they've (hopefully) learn. not perfect but nonetheless great game. good work Altar!
  21. 1. ability to go prone for snipers 2. ability to enter buildings for more cover and climb up to the roof for sniper placements(include the ability to climb inside and on top of littered vehicles would make it even more better!) 3. androids soldiers / robotic dog scouts 4. small armored mechs that a soldiers can get into and man (but go at slow speed) 5. camera to go to "eye-level" and zoom in closer 6. more soldiers and ability to allocate them to various bases (to protect and launch attacks from - flying all the way from Mexico to Alaska sucks) 7. characters in game that we can relate to would help propel the storyline 8. ability to choose (multiple) insertion point (especially when in urban areas. i.e. fast rope on top of a building while some drop off nearby) 9. trees other obstruction that becomes slightly transparent 10. ability to lay traps / mines for ambush (is there one ingame currently? not sure... havent played that far yet) 11. variety of enemies might help (i.e. renegade soldiers working for aliens, kingpin/gangs that roam the areas perhaps?) 12. might be nice to be able to take more than 7 people into the battle field (bringing along 10 noob soldeirs into the area to watch 6 experts do the work to learn a thing or two sounds cool - though taxing and confusing ) 13. havent played a night mission but are there any night vision/IR goggles? 14. ability to call in re-inforcements/back-up when 4 of your 6 men team is down would be nice. 15. multiplay / coop play most those things mentioned above would probaly need a lot of reprogramming better forget about it, i wouldnt wanna wait another few years for a sequel or expansion.
  22. *ack* cant belief that i read it!!!!

    Cheats

seemed kinda complicated to me... guess i'll have to pass till someone does a proper trainer or finds another way (easier) way to cheat... be nice to be able to go thru the game the second time on cheat...

    PC Gamer review

Everyone has their own experience on gaming. What suits you might not suit me. But as for PC Gamer (US) I feel that most of the time, their ratings are pretty good. UFO:A is out and I still cant find it on the shelves.. *sigh* the wait of the wait...java script:emoticon('???')
