  1. Has any one started work on a research tree yet?
  2. Looks Like there is a 1.2 version but the site is in Russian and has some strange requirements for us not living in Russia to download.
  3. For all you x-comers out there that like Interceptor. I came across this today that claims to fix the bug. I dont have a current game to test it out, but perhaps someone else does. Direct Link to Zip Edit: a quick comparison of the executable shows a few minor changes to the and virus total finds no problems. The patch is based on 1.0. According the the v1.2 readme the only fixed are for joystick use (who besides me actually owns one) and and issue with Interpays online game finder. Unless your having those issues this patched exe should work.
  4. the windows version runs incredibly fast on. while I get the graphics to work. i have not looked into doing anything to the speed. there are some other programs that attempt to adjust the speed. I recommend the DOS version in dosbox for better speed control.
  5. 0.74 works fine. I wish STEAM would update to it. It's significantly faster on file copies.
  6. You really shouldn't post full copies of the game. The reason this is having issues is f0dders loader is named as if it was the game exe. This is typical of warez copies. You would have had less issues with a copy from STEAM of D2D, they have the DOS version with DOSBox. it can run in a window or full screen with not color issues and is speed controlled. The lack of useful documentations on D3D windower is a problem. Unless it has a way to force launch a program from the command line then it would be a pain to integrate. Basically you have to install XcomUtil. setup D3Dwindower to point to geoscape.exe 0, geoscape.exe 1, and tactical.exe. (the numbers after .exe tell geoscape if it's being run the first time or after combat) then change runxcom to start D3Dwindower instead of geoscape or tatical. then each time the game transitions you have to select the correct icon in the GUI. Not fun, but workable.
  7. It probably could. depends on how it interacts with the exe's. Can you give me an example of how you have it setup or link to some instructions and I can see if I can set something up. As for renaming the EXE what was it to begin with? and what distro were you using?
  8. Your errors look like you trying to setup 9.6. What build are you using?
  9. You may find this page useful. http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=User_talk:Mvgulik
  10. Recovering the IBA is dependent on the if a tile exists on the map(map.dat in a saved game) that is flagged as an IBA in the MCD entry. At the end of combat Tactical looks up the tile entry in the currently loaded MCD's finds the tile numbers that are flaged as IBA then searched the tactical map in memory for any tile with that number. it then updated the score and X-Com Base inventory. Changing the score file would not add one to inventory. Crashed UFO's have a chance of the IBA of exploding and not being recovered. IF you want a lot of loot you have to catch the UFO on the bottom. This makes for lower monthly scores (alien gets points and you miss out on the shot down points, plus the X-Com casualties can be higher.) but it's the only way to guarantee you get the hardware.
  11. 1. I have not messed with missions.dat yet so I can help. 2. They also can show up on Mixed race missions. 3. M.C. Readers are a little random on if they are carried but they are common enough it should not take long to find one. (assuming you dont blow everything up)
  12. Build 442 Add Batch file for Java Terrain Editor as an example for thoes that want to use it. Fix BFG placement of units in Alien Base Terrain. Autocombat: All units with health <= fatal wounds dies before autocombat calculates win threshold. Autocombat: Fixed MIA units on WIN. -Blade FireLight
  13. 9.7 is still beta, hopefully not for much longer. Given the bugs in 9.6 I wouldn't call it "stable" either. -Blade FireLight
  14. Trying to start the beta I get Component 'comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missin or invalid -Blade FireLight
  15. You probably have 1.2a (also not listed above is X-COM 1.0 (US version), Italian and Spanish versions) they all use the 0x18ACC for IGLOB.dat length. They have different sizes and some difference in other offsets. 3C is HEX for 60 Change it to 40 -Blade FireLight
  16. Steam has both so the options include both. the Steam Launcher loads DOS. Lab Screen should be fixed in 435. The store capacity has always been there. all loot from combat is added even if it overflows your stores so you frequently can run into this. I think the Xcom SOP is like this: If it cant fit in the storage unit and it came from a mission then stuff it in the halls and under the beds. But if if you try to purchase something or unload it from the skyranger beware of Erl down in inventory control he can be grumpy.
  17. Are you only using XcomUtil or are you also using seb's Extender or some other mod? The interception has to do with the speed of the computer. If you geoscape is running supper fast like it does for most people then the delay in rendering the zoom at the start of combat will take so long the UFO outruns you before it's displayed. If your computer is "vista capable" but only getting system scores of 1. instead of 3.5 or something then you may not see this issue. Other mods also may fix this. I had the problem with out slowing the CPU down on my dual core 4800+ on Vista. but when I upgraded to 7 I also got a Phenom II 940. so for all I know windows 7 on a mid range computer will still have the problem.
  18. Build 435 Original Sound Effects from UFO were re-sampled to work with 1.4 and CE. Add Category to option headers. Improve randomness by using current time instead of game date/time in srand() Added Option to keep Current terrain/UFO to BFG. Original UFO 1.2 Sounds for Geoscape and Tactical added as an option for UFO 1.4 and CE. Force Split EXE on STEAM. Fixes issues with setup failing. Reset Laser/Gauss craft weapons stats to be default. Example addon now uses different flag extension to avoid deletion by XcuSetup fix issue with Lab Screen on DosBox always screening -Blade FireLight
  19. CNN is reporting that an scientists have proven that an asteroid killed the dinosaurs. Well all know is was the crash landing of the colony ship T'leth that killed them.
  20. Well that was odd. first time I click on the article it says you "need" to research in order. now it does not.
  21. I completely disagree with that artical. I just did this with an unmodified TFTD 2.1 and TFTD:CE Project New Research 1. Live Deep One - Alien origins, M.C.-Lab 2. Dead Deep One - Aquaplasitcs 3. IBA - Nothing 3. Mag Nav - Trans Resolver 4. Live Deep One - Nothing 5. Aqua Plastics - Plastic Aqua Armor 6. Live Deep One - Nothing 7. Plastic Aqua Armor - Nothing 8. Live Deep One - Ion Armor 9. Ion Armor - Mag Ion Armor The only thing that matters is Plastic Aqua Armour + Ion Beam Accelerators _Before_ Live Deep One Terrorist. And why miss out on the Trans Resolver early in the game? I Can take it a step further and verify all the way to new fighter sub if you like. -Blade FireLight
  22. Doing Live Deep One early dosen't kill the tree, it's just a waste because you have to get another one. And Medics dont brake the tree either. they just confuse the player that looks at the UFOPedia and thinks they already researched an alien just because they see the the entry. If you know what live ones are dependent on important research save them for the proper time. For the rest, I all ways research them to keep the containment unit cleaned out. -Blade FireLight
  23. Build 422 Fixed unit placing where units were placed outside of sub or inside of tanks. Fixed Display of Starting Transport and Fighter names for TFTD Updated addon example.txt to streamline and clarify a few things. Switched to Bomb Bloke updated Color Pallet Units who bleed to death no longer rise from the grave. (unless they die the same turn as you kill the last alien) Units under mind control when the last alien dies are no longer MIA. Fix messed up goto in Line 8 used for addons (Was causing exit of RunXcom) Fix RME error -Blade FireLight
  24. Build 413 Fixed Hybrid and Prompted BFG on Windows EXE's. Hybrid now uses Boom Blokes Pallet conversion. (removes lighting artifacts) "XcomUtil uninstall" now removes the hybrid game maps and terrain. Updated the Vista/Win7 patch. Recommend applying if you get odd colors that only go away with a reboot or playing a video in Media Player. Created new Add-on ability to allow others to plug-in to XcuSetup and RunXcom. Add-on support added. see XcomUtil\XcomUtil.txt and XcomUtil\Addon\Example.txt Restore and Backup ran second time on Hybrid games to resolve issues with cross pollination Update Vista/Win7 Patch to address alt + tab color issues. (restores color pallet on next start of Goescape or Tactical. Does not stop the corrupt pallet) Create windows flag file to force XcomUtil to update windows EXE when playing Xcom Windows Better UFO Hybrid integration and uninstall of copied files. Bomb Bloke's Hybrid Pallet Map command line option for config file now searches %CWD%\, %CWD%\XcomUtil\ and %CWD%\XcomUtil\Batch\ Hybrid path detection change to look for \maps\ATLAN00.map OR %1\maps\URBAN00.map Move XcomUtRt and LastOp to sub-folders older LastOp moved if it exists. All Flags moved to the flags folder. If debug.txt exists zero out file (deletion caused problems with WinTail) uninstall a few missed files. Fix debug log of config flags. Fix echo------ error in RunXcom.bat -Blade FireLight
