Humans left a present. Usefulness is doubtful this late in the game but curiosity demands research.

Puppet Master moves - away from our colonies! https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/Smiley/dance.gif Puny Humans flock to defend their world.

That is some serious rally going at NuDawn. Will the world be renamed to NoDawn?

Finally! Now we can toy with the machines to our twisted heats' desires!

AI was basically dead since AI virus so we are mopping up the remains but we don't have many ships left.

Our flagship was sent to deal with Human intrusion before more arrive but its fleet is far from what it used

to be. We yearn for destroyer swarms but the battle stances available were unable to use weapons

we equipped little weasels with. Most useful stance should be pursuit as it turns ships' bow toward the

enemy but it works so slow that many destroyers were vaporised before they could fire off a single shot.

Perhaps we will add destroyers to our fleets once more when we research antimatter cannons and such

but they will not be the backbone of our fleets. Just to make battles prettier, definitely not enough to

warrant reintroduction of Devourers.

We are wondering how Puppet Master will fare in the future. If it survives a while longer and becomes

our problem as well we will need to invest into long range weaponry research. Missiles kiting, perhaps

going for impactors. Anything to stay away from PM's fangs.

Two last battles against the AI - on this side of the rift.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0001-81.jpg

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0002-72.jpg

The AI fleet on the other side remains but I'll let Humans deal with it for now. Sadly it seems as

though it is brain-dead, it did not even recolonize a single world after we researched AI virus.

I'm not sure this is the usual routine. And I can't even check our previous records as last time

(Antiquarians scenario) I fulfilled a promise I gave Veki and didn't research AI virus.

Another menace faces an end unfitting to its power.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0004-62.jpg

I have to admit that Humans had a large fleet gathered and they use impactors. If AI knew how

to use them properly Puppet Master would be toast anyway.

Humans flee from our side of the rift.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0005-58.jpg

But engage our fleet on the other one again.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0007-50.jpg

Those are not Lancers... Humans researched most advanced version of heavy combat

lasers - cutting beams.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0009-43.jpg

Two very powerful war beasts. Again, if AI knew how to use them...

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0010-38.jpg

Layout of enemy's nodelines is mostly known. Also due to PM as their ships travelled all over.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0012-38.jpg

Our side of the rift is reclaimed and mostly repopulated.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0015-26.jpg

Research takes us fast forward...

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0017-21.jpg

...and we're The Red Menace once again.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0018-23.jpg

Time to move. Silencer is waiting.

My first love. :)

I hope you'll salvage them, SV.

It may just be that we have encountered them before and that they are already under research as a special project. They do cut everything into little pieces. Some of our dreadnoughts can affirm. Ex-dreadnoughts that is.

Oh, in the last pic you can see that I found one more Devourer. Not all were scrapped after all. It will come in handy to supplement the fleet with destroyers, especially Pitch Black class as it is frequently destroyed.

We belong.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0001-82.jpg

Ha, this looks interesting! Well, it wasn't all that much really, but got a nice vid of an asteroid monitor.

Our Illuminati cruiser finally made it to the VN Homeworld for a sneak peek.

Not that the outcome was not known. I wish I went the other way, perhaps we'd get a glimpse

of a VN Construct.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0013-29.jpg

And our Flagship fleet arrived. Humans were aware of our arrival though...

So, Flagship destroyed and fleet decimated we flee, tails between our legs.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0006-47.jpg

Humans have some pretty heavy weaponry...

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0010-39.jpg

But we're not that far behind!

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0007-51.jpg

Quickly our defence fleet on the Human side of the rift is sent into action, we need to divert

attention. Our knowledge of the monkeys allows easy acquisitions where they have no guns to

greet us with.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0015-27.jpg

New, better, more powerful, more expensive.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0017-22.jpg

Added new type of cruisers to snipe from the distance.

Church 2 goes for vengeance. Another fleet is sent to clean after the AI.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0027-18.jpg

Research is FAST these days.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0029-11.jpg

While nibbling on Human worlds we get to see some of the architecture. Sadly we can not keep it.

This more or less concludes research. We could stop.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0033-7.jpg

End-of-the-line ships are constructed. Fourteen!!! cutting beams, AM heavy cannons, phasers in the

front to assist in the PD if necessary and phaser PD... Mind numbing.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0034-6.jpg

Researching for the sake of it. I'll stop posting unless something interesting comes up.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0037-5.jpg

HA, GOTCHA!

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0045-2.jpg

Ok ok...

We take some slaves just for fun. And our flagship is sent to a world far away. You can see it

as a faint dot just below Human HW. Yes, that is the VN. We owe them a visit.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0042-2.jpg

We are a flood.

He he he, I had to look mirthful up. Yes, mirthful it will be indeed! :)

Our Flagship is sent directly to VN homeworld. It is not an immediate danger but Human empire

is crumbling and it would not be the first time that a surrender would stop me from showing

something interesting.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0001-83.jpg

We're in their backyard. Miners taste extra good.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0004-64.jpg

This colonizer is brave beyond reason. Our new DNs, Limb Cutter class, vaporize it with

their cutting beams. Overkill? Sue me.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0006-48.jpg

As stated, Human architecture looks pretty cool. It would make a good spawning point.

Yes, we are back. With a vengeance.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0005-61.jpg

Next turn we focus on the main world. The pests are DEAD!

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0011-37.jpg

Our attention is turned to one last remaining enemy. There are six fleets ravaging through Human space.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0023-28.jpg

Ha, I'm not sure if I even noticed this research link as I never research tractor beam. I should!

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0018-24.jpg

Some project update. And research is out.

https://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/SpaceVoyager/SotS%20TAR/screen0004-65.jpg

A new record is set.

Humans raise last real opposition at Henja.

I'm not giving you any more promises, I had enough problems with AI rebellion in Antiquarians! :)

This AAR took me a loooooong time to finish and I do have other games that I haven't even installed yet so I really don't see myself writing one more. I'm not promising anything here either, ate my words often enough.

I'm hoping others take it up though, I'd love to see how other people experience and present the same game. Silencer here said something about making an AAR and everybody else is also invited. If anyone is playing SotS2, that would be interesting as well!

So fast - were are the battles against Humans ?

There is a battle against Humans on the previous page - where we lost our precious Flagship. It is a lengthy show that drags for eight minutes. None of us produced any real change of tactics so I thought filming another one would just be a lot more of the same.

But just for you here's another (shorter) vid of a fight between our ultra high tech fleet (cutting beams, AM heavy cannons, phaser point defence) against a Human Asteroid Monitor. AM soaked more damage than I thought it would but much less than the Human colony would like, he he he! I uploaded it but decided it would be AAR video overkill as AM was already shown when VN attacked our colony. Anyway, I hope this will make you a bit less disappointed.

EDIT: I'm not sure anyone noticed but in the research fury towards the end we researched point absorbers. Those weren't researched sooner as they would take a lot of fun out of the battles. Their effect is already shown in the Tarka AAR though.

Between turn 372 and 380 there was plenty of Human plantes - don't tell me all were unprotected?

:)

Veki nailed it. The most they mustered was a five DN fleet which managed to take out one of ours DNs, before and after that I autoresolved all of the battles. It would just prolong the game unnecessarily to play them out.
