Guest Anonymous
i have an IBM T40 laptop with the following config P-M 1.5 GHz32MB Mobility Radeon 7500512 MB RAMWinXP Pro i understand that the radeon is the weakpoint in this system but having turned everything to a minimum , i still get 1.0 fps whenever any character does any sort of movement. why is that so? this system handles other games fine with everything tunrned to a minimum. my desktop rig withP-4 1.6 GHzGF2mx 64MB256MB RAMWinXP Proruns the game on the same settings with almost no hiccups averaging in the 15-25 fps range. why does the more powerful laptop run the game less well?and is there anything i can turn down further to make it run smoothly?i have tried turninng everything possible down with the s2 gfx configurator but it still stutters. =(help. TOPO
I'm starting to think there is a serious bug with Radeon cards 9000 and older. I got the same PC at home and at the office, the only difference is that in the office I hava a Radeon 9000 and at home a Radeon 9200... well, with the 9200 it goes pretty well, but with the 9000 the game got stuck everytime a texture is loaded... for example you can see the menu screen with no trouble... but in the campaign screen if you move the mouse from one book to another the game freezes on every texture load.In the main game it is even worst as any movement (mouse movement) makes visible lots of new objecst, so the game with my radeon 9000 is impossible to play. The computer is a pentium 2.4GHz or so with 512Mb Ram... so, WTF!! TOPO
My common sense is shouting "UPDATE THE FCKNG DRIVERS!" buy I don't really care... :? Maybe a Direcx update may help too.
Biggles
Something sounds a bit screwy... how much have you played around with the confi.cfg file? A lot of things can be fixed by tweaking that, there is a really useful sticky on the Nival forums. But driver & DirectX updates are always a good place to start. Guest Anonymous
Well i tried the latest mobility driver from IBM. still the same problem. However i was nosing around the Nival forums and found this advice for consistent slowdowns.change this setting in config.cfg setvar gfx_swvertexprocess = 1.00 it should be 0.00 just change it to 1.00 give it a try TOPO. worked for me. now i can play silent storm in school....which might not be such a good thing..... Biggles
Just watch out for the profile name in that config file. You may want to set it to match your own or 'default'
