Here the readme (from the already available patch at cenega):

UFO: Aftermath Patch 1.3

====================================

This patch addresses the following issues:

- More variable statistics of the enemies

- The Reticulans Stealth and Observation is decreased.

- Enable sounds for non-player units when they are hit or die.

- Fixed some animation problems.

- Collapsible weapons can deployed by kneeling:

Order the soldier with collapsible weapon to kneel down (it was not previously

possible as he carries a heavy armour) and he will deploy the weapon. You can

then order him to attack as you see fit.

- Saved games in Save/Load dialogue are ordered by real-world date

- The mind-control can be canceled by pressing Ctrl+C

- The target area can always be reached in outdoor missions

- Some weapon stats are modified

- Fixed pseudo-random crash-bug in strategic game, plus various minor bug-fixes.

- Added support for modding tools.

- Fixed problems with Matrox Parhelia videocard

Check your registry for these keys and remove if need. Patches should install properly after such a clleanup. It's better to reinstall all of them.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ALTAR\UFOAftermath]

"patch1_1a"=hex:ff

"patch1_3"=hex:ff

As far as I am concerned here, the 1.2 patch and the 1.3 patch both give error messages at the end. The patches still work, though, and are in the game, but now, with the version 1.3 patch for US/UK, it will state that the Incorrect data version is in the game, and start with a question to continue.

I have ignored these questions and start the game, and it states that it is version 1.3. I think it is just something wrong with the patches, and left a message at the other place from Cenega. I see nothing that could have went wrong, and deleted Altar out of the registry, after uninstalling and before re-installing, and although maybe I missed something, the game has worked fine for now.

Oh, it may be something also simple like making the gamedata.vfs file read-only in the Properties, since now it is an archive file only.

I have not tried that yet, so I will.

Greetings, I've installed 1.3 (US version) and I've noticed a couple strange things. And, now to think of it I'm not sure I installed 1.2...

Wierdnesses:

o Grays in my squad don't speak. They appear to move their mouths but I get no sound.

o When I lose a soldier, the "We've lost a unit" message sounds "alien"

In all other respects the game appears to run normally and I've got the new "alien oponent" sounds that v1.3 added.

Would the update let me install 1.3 without having installed 1.2?

Thanks in advance!

:blink:

Okay. I reinstalled from nothing and now I've started a new game and I'm working on getting back to the point where I have the friendly greys...

I put my old game in also and the greys in it still don't talk.

More when I know more...

Well, I've got the friendly greys again and again, no sound out of them. Did I also mention that when I lose a soldier I get an alien sounding voice that says, "Our unit has been lost.". Is that normal in 1.3 ?

I guess I can live with silent greys. I've had no crashes as long as I run as a user without a lot of other stuff loaded in XP.
