I guess that this is only in multiplayer as it would have no place in single player. I get that they're excited, but some of what they're saying is cool and different was done in AvP2 (can't remember if the smart gun was in AvP1, but it kicked ass in AvP2 until it inevitably ran out of ammo). I just get the feeling they're glossing over the existence of these two fine games Still, I suppose you have to treat your potential players as if they've not played any games that touch on this universe before.
