Stupid yanks. Well, I was rooting for the SU. I'm getting the impression that this campaign is almost over.

 

Does part of you ever regret being able to save Poland and defeat Germany so early?

Two weeks of peace! Would it have killed them to wait a few years?

 

God knows what we're going to do once we've beaten the SU. Italy isn't going to be much of a challenge to the Allies.

 

Sometimes, late in the game, I do wish I could just resurrect Germany and have the world threatened again. I think the problem is that the conflicts tend to be very decisive, and the AI is very stubborn. You end up getting so annoyed when it ignores early peace offers that you brush aside deals the AI offers you later (which are often given at the point where you know you're going to win anyway, so there's no incentive), and just crush them. This just means you become a bigger and bigger power bloc, until by the mid-50s you're often the only superpower. I think the decision to have alliances be mutually exclusive was a bit of a mistake, as it prevents the SU joining the Allies, and the Comintern and the Axis joining forces, reducing both historical and ahistorical results.

Yep, I can agree with that assessment. Before Romania I had an 'indepent' Italy campaign where the Allies absolutely refused peace with me even though I was only asking for 5-6 provinces. Frustrating.

 

To be more on topic though, have you considered leaving the Allies once peace time comes back around? I mean, they don't seem to respect you much as it is... You saved Poland, you defeated Germany, you challenged the IJN to open up Asia. How did they repay you? Offensive after bloody offensive to save their tactically challenged arses. Oh, and Greenland. Who could forget that fiasco.

I was thinking of leaving the Allies, actually. It means I can have a nice little war with Italy without everyone squabbling over the dividends. And it's going to be head-crushingly boring once this war is done, as there'll be no menaces left.

 

I wish I could forget Greenland, quite frankly.

As tempting as it is to drive deep into the SU, I can't be arsed. I especially can't be arsed to do it on my own. The Spaniards and Czechs have generously loaned me some troops, but I'm only using some Czech divs to hold the Polish border. I'm not controlling my allies, because I can't be bothered with the hassle.

I'll mop this lot up, and then see what's what. The SU is weak in Europe, I could quite easily expand riotously, but I don't want to.

It's not a serious battle, minor forces on both sides, but I dread to think of the SU controlling India as well. Do I have the forces to help them there as well? Do I shite.

Not much there, two light cruisers and some subs. Still, sinking them will prevent them from bothering my convoys.

I might see about working my way as far east as I can, reducing the amount of territory the Yanks have to defend, and then negotiating a separate peace with the SU, cutting them off from each other.

Was going to take Sevastapol, can't be bothered. Now I just have to find a way to end this war or extricate myself, without laboriously fighting the SU to a standstill.

Yeah, good luck with that Even if you did haggle an agreement, would it still be possible for you to leave the Allies with the rest of them in the middle of a war?

Bit of a pickle I find myself in, really. I can't negotiate a whole peace, and if I get a separate peace, it just means extending the length of the war, and possibly undoing my good works if Poland, Czechoslovakia etc just get swallowed up again.

 

Assuming I do negotiate a separate peace, I don't think I can leave the Allies, because they're at war (even though I would not be).

I'd like to see ya give France another go, but without Allied support. I wonder if you'd still be able to save Poland...

I'm going to see how this fight with the SU turns out. Perhaps if the Sovs push the Americans out of Asia, they'll think about peace.

 

I think I'd still be able to save Poland, but it would take longer. The Allies helped out, keeping me fully supplied, blockaded Germany, and subjected her to a lot of bombing, but there wasn't much in the way of direct combat support.
