Some hope on the horizon

Just something I noticed on the Laser Squad Nemesis website:

Will LSN become like the X-Com games?

The answer is yes, and more. We are currently developing an AI system

for LSN which will be better and more sophisticated than the AI we

developed for the X-Com games. We are also developing a massively

multiplayer online strategy game based on LSN - something which X-Com

lacked. We are also planning to build a more ambitious single player

exeperience reminiscent of the first X-Com game (aka. UFO: Enemy

Unknown) with a 'geoscape' world view, RPG elements and resource

management. X-Com was just the beginning - LSN is the future.

Although it won't be exactly the same as X-Com, atleast it will have the Gollop Brothers behind it

Yeah, I also found it some time ago.

Personally, I don't like very much this last sentence - it states, that they aren't going to continue in the direction of X-Com. Of course, they don't have rights, but they not even planning to acquire them. Not that this is a big tragedy, LSN is also an interesting experience. Besides, Geoscape view, resource management and RPG elements - like good ol' Genesis (though it wasn't the Gollops idea). So, I wish this one would be finished.

PK, are you talking about official X-Com game? Then you may be quite right, but (hopefully) who knows?

Bout LSN. It's not X-Com, though Laser Squad was the father of X-COM.

How about Marsec or M4000 Auto Gun? This was from LS.

I'd consider Alliance gone forever. The team behind it got switched to other stuff by Infogrames and the studios where it was being produced have since been shut down.

I think that's pretty terminal. They're just too bloody lazy to give anyone an official word. Hands up if you like Infogrames? Anyone? Didn't think so... and they can kiss my bottom before I change my view on their terrible customer relations.
