Kratos
It's the second day now that the xcomufo site is down. I hope that the administrators get it back up soon because the ufo2000 project (as well as the xenocide project) home forums is hosted there. It is probably nothing, but one can never know. FullAuto
Snap. I was just about to mention this. Anyone have a clue what's going on? I was just about to start looking for fics on there...
Kratos
I would like to know also. I was going to plot out some more ideas for my "Fact or Reason" Mod for ufo2000...having quite some information on it and I hope nothing happens to it. Pete
Hopefully one of the staff will be able to tell us, assuming Stewart still drops by occasionally?
Slaughter
Well, Micah has been gone for a long time, so I hope Stewart has the proper login and so on to get it back up. *crosses fingers*
Blehm 98
I don't think micah paid his bills i forgot the message, but it went something like:*the gateway was not accessed as the IP you were searching for cannot be foundand some other message. if you want to see it, go to xenocide main page try to follow a link, you get that message this isn't cool
Pete
Hmm... neither are loading for me right now... How long has it been since anyone over there saw Micah? They're both pointing to the same domain nameservers, so I can only assume they are hosted on the same account. Unfortunately I can't even find out who the DNS servers belong to (which hosting company) to make an enquiry as to what the deal is.
Kratos
IIRC, Micah hasn't been active since 1 - 3 months? I wonder if I have enough bandwidth to support ufo2000 and xenocide on my site as a forum? (www.ufo2k.com) I don't know how to create forums though. Pete
You'd need to install some forum software for that... I'm thinking it would be an idea to try and track down the web hosts though. If it's a case of an unpaid bill, maybe we can do something about that to get it up long enough to redirect people to another location - such as some forums you might be able to set up? I'll do a bit more scouting about...
Kratos
what kind of software are you using pete? edit: oh invision power board (I should of looked at the bottom of the page lol )
Pete
Link at the very bottom of the page mate Unfortunately it's not free though... but there are free alternatives out there. You might want to check out somewhere like https://www.foruminsider.com to see what the visitors there think of the different options.
Azrael Strife
We are sorry, everyone, there has been a problem with the server, Mindstormmaster is currently working on it, he says it will be up again on Monday, I'll let you know if the situation changes. Kratos
Glad to hear its not a billing problem.
Azrael Strife
XComUFO Forums are not monthly paid, AFAIK.
Kratos
Yeah, for a project like xenocide (and various other websites) I would think it would be paid yearly.
Azrael Strife
I don't think we do pay yearly either...
Pete
Can't be free, surely
Azrael Strife
Nevermind, it's paid yearly The server was attacked, probably from a lamer, and has crashed, mindstormmaster is reinstalling it and will put it back online on monday, hopefully, as far as we know there hasn't been any loss of information. Azrael Strife
Some guys started complaining about our Project, they seemed not to like it, one of them posted their chat log on our forums to show us, that was of little importance and I don't think we have more reason to suspect them than to suspect anyone else, could have been a random thing. Pete
Aye - most people like that are just full of hot air. You guys are doing a grand job - keep it up
Matri
I'd just beef up the security and ignore these guys. Most of the loons just like finding fault just for the heck of it. ... Like my dad, unfortunately...
