Direwolf007
I don't remember where I read that, but weren't there supposed to be the option to rescue surviving humans on missions ? Or were I smoking something weird ?
Deejax
Well, you can obviously rescue downed pilots. But I don't know about any other 'rescue humans' missions. Maybe in a mod? Or a good idea for a mod. Would be a lot nicer if you have to rescue your soldiers instead of getting them for free.
Direwolf007
Hmm. Interesting thought. Has anyone tried to add a new mission type, or something along these lines ? Can it even be done ? Gotta find where its scrited, if anywhere...
Deejax
It should be possible. You can at least rescue two aliens, so some humans has to be possible. It would be nice to make it a random mission, so instead of simply getting recruits you need to rescue all of them. That should make you somewhat careful with your soldiers. I know where you can set the max number of soldiers you have (I think that only affects the arrival of new recruits) and what level the new recruits are. So it is possible to stop the arrival of new soldiers. I haven't looked at the mission generating process, so can't help you there I'm afraid. But keep posting! Direwolf007
That guy was Brian, the #2 soldier you start with at the beginning. But the mission has little to do with the actual game, AFAIK. It doesn't really affect how you start. Just gives you the hang of the game.
Slaughter
Has little to do with the game maybe, but it is a fully working "save a soldier" mission never the less . Could be a good mission to study, to find out how it works (along with the pilot and save rets missions).
Direwolf007
True. But I am so far stumped on the mission creation scripts. I can't seem to find them at all. I am beginning to wonder if it isn't hardcoded in the exe.
Slaughter
That would be bad. I'll try to get something out of Martin.
DarkWolf
Well i think saving soldier would be great ... like you loose a mission and sometimes you got the possibility to go there and rescue some of them at least... But you got a big problem... 7 soldier max... so for now if you have to rescue 3 or 4 of them ( like injured or incapacitated ) you would have to make a mission at 3 soldier... good luck in the end when the grey are using only mass destruction weapon with psy..... Hope one day they build robot to kick there a** You do not decide how long you will but you can decide what to do with the time you got...
