October 1, 200223 yr Author Indeed it would mean interesting tactics, but then again... it is already in it
December 26, 200223 yr Author Guys, after a long time of surplus priorities, I found myself motivated to get this project on top of that again. So even though I work, am a fulltime student, having a rather odd social life (i'm just weird), got my own apartment, even getting into a new relationship with a nice girl I met recently, I managed to keep the project alife. I'm not dead yet people. [Worm]
December 26, 200223 yr Yay! Don't work too hard on the project and risk losing the girl tho Unless... is she interested in playing email X-COM?
January 12, 200323 yr when you are done i can show this game for friends!because they love to watch me when i play X-com apocalypse! and they have been dissapointed with no multiplayer!i telled them about email games: x-combut didnt find it in store what will the game be called?when it is realesed i will prepare to fight the alien one more time!
January 13, 200323 yr this is my wish list! - you can name your troppers it is so fun to name your squad leader to your own name then the others to your friends name - you can equip/buy weapons before a match / war - the bigger gun you have.. the smaller mobility (Tus) like in all X-COM games - have 4 floors (like Dougs idea) so you can have high buildings! - have the ability to play more then 2 players! thats all i think...the sound idea is briliant
January 18, 200323 yr Author Heythere, Sorry for not answering in time, but it seems I'm not getting any threadtrack messages... But to go over your wishlist: - you can name your troppersit is so fun to name your squad leader to your own name then the othersto your friends name I was thinking to make the mapeditor name the teams, and indeed perhaps an option for the players to name the agents individually. - you can equip/buy weapons before a match / war Have to think that over, because the teams exist out of 'type units', meaning every unit is a type like 'AutoCannon Human1'. This way, the mapeditor decides what kind of teams are playing to eachother. Of course, I could make that optional for the mapeditor.... Mmh, interresting idea... - the bigger gun you have.. the smaller mobility (Tus)like in all X-COM games As mentioned in the previous point, that is defined by the mapeditor. If the mapeditor makes a unit, it sets its mobility, guns, shootingrange and eyesight etc. The balance is totally up to the map editor. - have 4 floors (like Dougs idea) so you can have high buildings! Sounds very cool indeed. I will get this done. - have the ability to play more then 2 players! Read the entire thread? Anywho, that's it for now. Hope the thread tracking messages come back to me in time.... [Worm]
March 31, 200323 yr hey, how everything progressing? hello? :: watches tumbleweed roll past. scary wind noises echo through the thread :: um....what happened?
April 1, 200323 yr Author ::comes out of the corner you didn't notice::::looks around looking bewildered (haven't seen aynone for ages):: Emm, yeah well, I kinda having a hard time right now. I'm flunking school, plus I'm kinda want to get on with my skills. See, the game is based on pretty old skills. I've been experimenting with OpenGL a lot lately and making my own 3d models in programs like 3D Studiomax.I'm thinking about a remake of Email Excom more like Laser Squad Nemesis, but totally XCom themed. But both ways take time, have "pro's" and "no's", but priority is pretty much gone down at the moment... Sigh, I'll finish it sometime, just don't know when. I've done a lot though, but changing to OpenGL would mean a lot of research (for me) and completely remaking the engine. So, feel updated?
April 25, 200323 yr Suggestions(which are, most likely impossible and impractical, but whatever...)-Shootable Terrain (including, if possible, lights which can be destroyed)-Promotions, possibly with even more ranks beyond squaddie, sergent, captain etc.. (c'mon, who didn't like seing their troopers promoted?-Some added bonuses to using pistols (I thought they were underused, and that it would be cool if there was more advantages to using them...Maybe they could open doors using less movement points, or be able to do a special, severely-range limited shot?)
May 8, 200323 yr - Should there be mulitplayer options? No, it just has never felt that sort of game.- Should the game have an A.I.?No, they're sneaky enough as it is.- Should it be playable via network? No, see answer 1- Should the soundengine be applied (like in Example1 and Example3)?? Dont know.- Should the new Endurance engine be applied (like in Example2)?? Dont know again (sorry)- Should units be equipable? So you can add some stuff?Yes definatley. Equipment ideas:Night vision glasses and day vision glassses to give you more line of sight.Sniper rifle to pick them off at a distance.

June 25, 200322 yr Author I'm sorry to say that I will probably never finish this project anymore. It was part of my self-learning curve, which took me to the lands of 3D. I'm sorry, I truly am, but I was young in the programmers shoes and didn't know what the future would hold for me. My thanks go out to those who helped me and made suggestions. - Ben
June 26, 200322 yr hmm, thats fine. evolution is the best thing really. so i'm interested in this "3D" land. is it fun? email me or im me, i would like to learn more.

August 29, 200322 yr Author Ok, enough with the 3D crap, I've once again picked up the work left to be done on the game... Seems it can't be killed afterall. - Worm
August 30, 200322 yr Ok, enough with the 3D crap, I've once again picked up the work left to be done on the game... Seems it can't be killed afterall. Are there (will be) any sources of your work available?Only open source project can't be killed after all
August 30, 200322 yr Author I'm not sure I'm ready to that just yet. It's a pretty personal project to me... a little bit like my little baby. I know, I know, like I said before, I'm weird Until now, I've worked on it on my own, and I think I'm getting pretty close now, but all the art/graphical work on it has already been done by the original gamedesigners from EXcom. So the basic is there already. Ofcourse, the editor that has reached beta stage makes it possible to add completely different graphics. So, you'd be asking for the sourcecode; I don't think I'll release that, especially while I'm still working on it myself. Is that reasonable? Hope I'm not being cocky here...
September 14, 200322 yr Plz create a webpage deticated to the new Email Xcom so we can be up to date! if you want i can create a site for the game :alien2: Email me at: [email protected]
