I am looking for games like Battlefield 4, that got a commander mode, where you are commanding other players like you would play a strategy game.

I think its an interesting mix of action and strategy games. Commanding computer units is different from commanding real players. You also need social skills.

 

Do you know any other games that give us this experience?

Natural Selection 2. The maps are less open yet the concept is the same. The commander probably has an even more important role there as he/she is building basic infrastructure needed to fuel the fight.

Along those lines, FPS/RTS hybrid Nuclear Dawn too has a commander mode.

Savage: Battle For Newerth started this way back when. It was the first game to feature the Commander Mode.
