  1. Galactic Civilizations III Rejoice, denizens of the universe! Today marks the 20th Anniversary of Stardock, a company which during that period has given us much reason to celebrate strategy gaming. On this joyous occasion a stellar announcement has been made - the warping in of none other than Galactic Civilizations III! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owdjizoiqVY Here's word from the development team: Keep listening though, because early access to the game is possible via the Founder's program at the official site alone: For the icing on the cake Stardock has chosen to also add a sale to the festivities, with several of their released titles to be steeply discounted both at their own store and on Steam starting this Thursday. For some reason at this point we just feel like saying 'Engage!'
  2. Battle is about to be met. You never know when you're going to be called into action and it can happen at the most unexpected of times and places, as is the case in The Aristocrats' just unveiled turn-based wargame Order of Battle: Pacific. https://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/6563/news-thumbnail_order_of_battle_pacific_bnr.jpg The features, in orderly fashion: For further briefing stop by either the Slitherine or Matrix Games' dedicated sites for the game. There is at the moment no word regarding the exact fielding date of this title, but whenever it happens we shall be at the ready to report it.
  3. They've decided to cough it up. Maybe it couldn't be helped any more because, let's face it, our decryption and extraction implements are so advanced it would only be a matter of time. So it is that the folks at Klei discretely admit to the existence of Incognita. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/6254/news-thumbnail_incognita_bnr.jpg Our covert operatives have tapped into key communications arrays, detecting this piece of intel afforded RPS agent Nathan Grayson by Jamie Cheng of the Klei outfit: Bottom line? Intel clearly shows Incognita is to be a turn-based Tactical Espionage title. And we shall absolutely be intercepting everything we can regarding it.
  4. Battle Academy 2 Yes, there's a number two! Though information is yet pretty scant at the moment it's quite official - Battle Academy 2 is already under development and if all goes according to Slitherine's battle plan this turn we'll be heading eastwards. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/5940/news-thumbnail_battlefield_academy_2_bnr.jpg Here's a brief word: Some of the ideas for enhancement and addition currently being considered for the sequel: To pitch in stop by the new BA 2 Slitherine forums here. There's not much more sipping through currently, and all that can be seen of the game at present is showcasing the sequel's enhanced editor, but the plan is to have the game making an east-bound outing this very year.
  5. Rewriting history is not easy. Not as easy at it might at first seem, certainly. You may believe under your command things would have had a different outcome, so perhaps dealing with some of the realities of a specific time, such as in Ultimate General: Gettysburg, a hardcore American Civil War real-time strategy game, you can put that theory to the test. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/6249/news-thumbnail_ultimate_general_gettysburg_bnr.jpg The key features: The announcement of this upcoming offering by Game Labs also includes word that other settings and time periods will be explored should this initial outing prove successful. Community involvement and feedback are welcomed at the game's official forums, over yonder.
  6. The fighters make themselves heard. Nationalists on one side and Republicans on the other vie for control of Spain, in an extremely fierce civil war that lasted from July 1936 to April 1939. This is the very subject matter of Ageod's freshly disclosed grand strategy game España 1936. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/6423/news-thumbnail_espana_1936_bnr.jpg Here are the features, Señores: The first screenshots have now been made publicly available at The Wargamer here, where some additional information can also be gleaned. This title is presently slated for release later this year.
  7. The faithful increase. This in good part due to the dark age of technology we live in, bearing fruit yet again with the blessings of Games Workshop, which has granted the scholars at HeroCraft permission to oversee the creation of Warhammer 40.000: Space Wolf. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/6370/news-thumbnail_warhammer_40000_space_wolf_bnr.jpg A long-lasting tradition of remaining tight-lipped about their novel works is being honoured, but our sources have informed us it is to be a free-to-play collectible card game. Some more has been accrued by the adeptus of the PC Gamer chapter: Sanity is for the weak, so fear not the maddening wait for its release sometime in the year of 2014.
  8. A contender rises in Tempe, Arizona. The incredibly well populated segment of card games is about to gain one more entry to its ranks, courtesy of Second Wind Games, which herald from the aforementioned location, championing a certain Passage: Digital Tactical Card Game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfjUz2LjbDU For now the path to be traveled is yet long and its arrival is estimated only for Summer of 2014, with beta access sometime in the Spring, but a Kickstarter initiative seems to be in the cards to assist in bringing it along to fruition in the best possible way.
  9. Distant Worlds Contact nearing and on approach vector. Phasing out of an alternate timeline, no less, this now-revealed new entry to Matrix Games' Distant Worlds' series takes place in the ominous Age of Shadows. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/5999/news-thumbnail_distant_worlds_shadows_reveal_bnr.jpg The key features: Therefore, plenty of novelties to look forward to in this stellar effort by the developers at Code Force, which should be warping in 'soon'. Do keep in mind though that the base game and all previous expansions are required to play with Shadows. The first screenshots have come to light and can now be found at the dedicated product page in this sector of online space.
  10. Puppygames' machinations have been revealed. After being responsible for the unleashing of digital hits Revenge of the Titans and Droid Assault, things are about to escalate to unprecedented yapping levels with codename Battledroid. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/5835/news-thumbnail_puppy_games_bnr.jpg Reason enough to sit and pay attention: But it gets better: autonomous is autonomous - you don't actually control the robots. Got it now? To compute the entirety of what's involved head on over to the creator's blog. There's no imagery yet, but things are pretty well fleshed out with regards to what really matters - the mechanics. A playable alpha is apparently not that far off, and neither is a Kickstarter for the game. It is also mentioned that an offline mode is planned (random armies on random maps), as are tutorial missions to properly train you, if all goes well. Let the tail wagging begin!
  11. Company of Heroes 2 Guess who's joining us next year... That's right, Company of Heroes 2, the long anticipated sequel to the much praised original will be officially revealed in the June issue of the PC Gamer magazine. http://www.strategycore.co.uk/site/assets/files/1679/news-thumbnail_company_of_heroes_2_pc_gmr_reveal_bnr.jpg Set to take us to the eastern front in 1941, this new entry in the series will have us in charge of the mighty soviet army. There are a number of scans here as evidence of this. It's not one step back towards a 2013 release!
