  1. Gratuitous Space Battles Expanding your capabilities could be dangerous. Especially if you belong to The Outcasts, the cybernetically enhanced stars of the show in Gratuitous Space Battles' just released new DLC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8Ok_016BPE They have been cast away for it and, in the end, didn't take it too kindly: What they bring to the table: All told, expect to find ten new ships, six new ship equipment modules and two new scenarios in the package. Did the above titillate your sensors? Well then, adjust your implants for maximum speed and scurry on over to Steam as there's a launch discount of 20% off lasting until January 18th.
  2. Gratuitous Space Battles The Outcasts approach. Positech Games' Mr. Cliff Harris continues dedicatedly populating the universe of his popular Gratuitous Space Battles strategy/simulation game and this time he's portending the arrival of a new race. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYnL9qrILlw The first ship of this novel race is being showcased in a batch of three new screenshots and a mischievous new tech can already be seen in action in the short video aired to that effect. So feast your eyes on the Radium Class Outcast cruiser and the devious holographic decoy projector. And don't be fooled into thinking this an illusion - when least you expect it the Outcasts shall be traveling to a system near you!
  3. Gratuitous Space Battles You can now have it both ways in Gratuitous Space Battles. Having just reached version 1.60, this space strategy simulation game now affords you the luxurious option of having direct control over the ships you field, or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhoQbNBfR9A Here's the intel straight from Positech Games' Mr.Cliff Harris himself: Baffled? Then just watch the accompanying explanatory video and prepare to revise your battle plans.
  4. Usually, when playing GSB, my ship designs fail miserably and die in the first 1-2 minutes of battle. However, I have had some success. View the glory that is the Alliance Alligator point defence cruiser! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h109/FullAuto_2006/GSB/alligatorpdv1.jpg Boasting no less than five point defence turrets, this little baby forms up ahead of my main ships and absorbs lots of incoming fire. Shooting down rockets, missiles and torpedoes, it takes a lot of the sting from facing off against enemy cruisers. It has shields and autorepair, so it can cope with a little lasering and whatnot. My Federation anti-fighter frigate, on the other hand, is a total failure. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h109/FullAuto_2006/GSB/AFFv1.jpg I don't know why. It is actually quite good at killing fighters, armed with two rapid-fire lasers and an anti-fighter missile launcher, it just doesn't live long enough. God knows why, it's got two shield generators and armour. It zooms out there and just dies. Another success (if I may modestly say so myself), is the Alliance Swordfish fast attack frigate. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h109/FullAuto_2006/GSB/swordfishfastattackfrigate.jpg This little darling swims through the oceans of space, bobbing at the periphery of the fight, and launches rockets at targets that are looking weak. No armour, just three engines and some shields. Ba-bang! Stays alive through mobility.
