  1. Yep, disabling 'Slow the Clock' and 'Show Money' did it.
  2. Eh, I've been sort of busy with college. Over winter break I squandered my free time playing the new XCOM, but now I'm bored with that and back to screwing around with TftD and UFO Defense. lol Disabling 'slow the clock' had no effect. Does 1.6 need to be installed before 1.61? I just installed 1.61 (the one with the .exe and new .ini) and the newest patch over my game, so it's possible I messed up the install order I guess.
  3. Hey! Long time no-see Tycho! Newest patch seems to break things on my end. When I try to start a USO mission or a Base Attack mission I'll get as far as the 'Press any button to continue' screen and the game will hang and force me to kill the process in task manager. This happens in new games as well, so I don't think it's an issue with my save file. The previous version (1.61) is more functional, but the 'time pass' buttons on the Geoscape don't get highlighted when I press them. My .ini.zip
  4. Hey Tycho. Were you still looking into the issue with mp3 playback and codecs, or is the newest update supposed to address that? Anyways, teroteki over at the Steam forums shared a pretty nifty way of isolating which codecs conflict with Extender. Thought I'd link it here in case someone wanted a method for isolating which codecs are screwing things up on their system. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=33138727&postcount=272
  5. Works great on my end Tycho! Both issues are gone, and both clip cursor modes work like their supposed to. LOL! The "stunned units killed in action" thing is really obvious now that you point it out. Never thought to be suspicious of the "corpse" lying there.
  6. Looks like I was mistaken when I said the light issue occurred with clip cursor on and off. It definitely happens when clip cursor is set to either 1 or 2. I tried turning off all of the options except for the video ones like you said, but light still behaved the same way as I described before. I also tested all of the clip cursor options in windowed 480x600, 600x800 and fullscreen 1680x1050. The results were that light would always appear normally when "clip cursor=0", but would disappear when set 1 or 2. I did notice something interesting though. If you happen to land in sight of an alien UFO on that first turn, the UFO tiles will still cast light.
  7. Clip cursor (both modes) seem to be working for me now, but I've observed some new bugs. The first is that at the start of any mission (before making a move) objects will not cast light. Once a move is made, the light sources around your soldiers and other objects will return. The file I attached will have examples of this effect in a night mission and a day mission (the one for the day mission is kind of subtle, look at the soldiers' feet). There's also save files of the missions I took the pictures from (saves 8 and 9). The same thing happens in windowed and fullscreen, regardless of whether clip cursor is on or off. The second thing might not be related to the most recent changes. I've had it happen in both the latest patch and the second to latest. Basically, I have a save where an alien is standing by the doorway of a barn. When I try to blow up the alien and the wall it's standing next to, the game will 100% of time crash with the following message: "XCOM crashed at 0x100279A9 with error 0xC0000005 trying to access 0x0000001B". I thought this might have something to do with explosions that spill over the edge of the map, but I haven't been able to reproduce this in a new game. This might honestly be a corrupted save, but I wanted to see what you made of that if anything. There's a picture of the wall that causes the crash, and a save file of that mission (save number 7). Thank you for the effort you put into trying to improve the Extender mods Tycho. I'm always surprised at how quickly you come up with patches and tweaks to the mods. Light Issues.zip
  8. Sounds like you might already have the information you need, but I just wanted to clarify that the crash I mentioned in the last post was from setting clip cursor to "2" for UFOExtender and not TFDExtender (it works exactly as it's supposed to in TFD). Something I forgot to mention before - on crashing I get an error message that says: "Trying to patch the same place twice (0x00440831, 0x00440831) Send this error to the author to have it fixed". Hope that helps.
  9. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit. How do you change the clip cursor mode? I noticed that you mentioned on your TFDExtender page that it has two modes, but the only setting I see in the INI is turning it off or on (0 and 1). I tried setting it to "2", but that just made the game crash.
  10. Kickass! I was hoping the clip-cursor improvements would find their way over to UFOExtender. Thanks Tycho! [EDIT] Came across a weird bug. After installing the new version, the gun icon in the battlescape menu doesn't seem to display correctly. It's a little hard to describe, it kind of flickers in and out of existence at the end of any time-unit consuming move (like shooting or turning). I've attached a picture and my .ini settings. One of the settings might be is the cause of the weirdness, but I've enabled quite a few so I'm not which one is causing it if any it's clip cursor. If you have it enabled in either fullscreen or windowed mode, it makes weapon icons sort of bug out. I thought at first that there was some conflict with files from older versions of the mod or a corrupted save file, but I see the same behavior even on fresh installs/games. Invisible gun.zip
  11. I had some hiccups trying use the steam version as well. I'll try to help you out. The first thing you want to do is copy or move the "Terror from the Deep" folder to different location - you can probably find this in "Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/Common". I have yet to see a method of getting the modded version to work in Steam, so the easiest thing to do is to just move the game files and run it outside of Steam. Next, you'll want to download three files from this page: "version 1.05", "version 1.05p1", and "patch 1.05p1.1". In your "Terror from the Deep" folder, find the "TFD" folder and extract the files you downloaded in the order I presented them (Select "copy and replace" or "yes to all" whenever prompted to overwrite). This page has basic install instructions and mentions some prerequisites that you'll need to run the game and some of the mod's features. It also tells you what each option in the .ini does. Make sure you open the "TFDExtender.ini" file and change "D3D=0" to "D3D=1" if it isn't already. I think most of the best options are enabled by default, but you can read over what each option does and tweak to taste. To launch the game, make sure you double-click "TFDExtender.exe" and not "Terror from the deep.exe". That will be the file you want create a shortcut to for easy access. Now for mp3 music. Under MP3 change "Apply=0" to "Apply=1". Create a new folder inside TFD and name it "MP3". You can place whatever music you want in the MP3 folder (as long as the file names match what is in the .ini), but I'd recommend Kain's awesome remastered soundtrack. Some people have problems with the game crashing when it tries to play mp3 files, the work around is to use .ogg files instead. And... I think that's it! If you have any problems I'm sure that I or someone else will be able to give you a hand. Have fun killing lobster-men!
  12. This, and also make sure that you're are launching "TFTDextender.exe" and not "Terror from the Deep.exe". That's what threw me when I was trying to get it to work.
  13. Pretty good stuff! At first listen, I thought it was rather similar to the PSX soundtrack, but in a lot places it feels like the remix has more impact.
  14. You might also try setting "Music change freeze=0" if you have it enabled. I don't know if it affects mp3 playback, but it was definitely screwing up midi playback when I tried enabling it. The specific codec that caused the issue was this one . It's a codec that's directly linked to on the official ogg vorbis site, so I was a little surprised it was causing issues. The other weird thing that happened was that while I was able to play .ogg files using TFDExtender, but not mp3s. UFOExtender with the original X-COM would crash the instant it tried to play both .mp3 and .ogg files.
  15. Does anyone know why trying to use MP3 files for the soundtrack causes the game to crash for some people? This problem just started happening to me out of the blue when the game was playing mp3s perfectly before. It's not something that was caused by the newest patch, because mp3s were playing fine when I tested it a few days ago. I've done the work around of using .ogg music files instead of .mp3s, but I'm puzzled as to why the problem happens in the first place. EDIT - Actually, never mind. I figured out why it was happening on my end at least. The problem seemed to have been caused by a codec I installed to allow Windows Media player to - ironically enough - play .ogg files. I did a system restore to before the codec was installed, and the problem disappeared.
