    All games suck

Cyke, I guess it's pointless to ask, but have you tried Laser Squad Nemesis? Also, I've recently been playing alot of old games that are just made to make you laugh. One of my favorites is Freddy Pharkas. Though I have to admit, there aren't really any games which I could see at the moment which would keep me hooked for years. Hmm, maybe LSN: Earth
  2. Yep Tammy, sure you were...
  3. It did seem you wanted a naked picture of Jiri. You naughty girl
  4. As Pete posted before, ufoaftermath.co.uk is proud to present an exclusive UFO: Aftermath video - Road to Aftermath. This video has been released to comemorate ALTAR Interactive's publishing deal with Cenega Publishing. Here are some shots of the movie to whet your appetite - http://www.ufoaftermath.co.uk/aftermath/thumb_01.jpghttp://www.ufoaftermath.co.uk/aftermath/thumb_02.jpghttp://www.ufoaftermath.co.uk/aftermath/thumb_03.jpghttp://www.ufoaftermath.co.uk/aftermath/thumb_04.jpg There is just one point I wanted to make, be careful when you download this movie. By this I don't mean that it will harm your computer or anything like that, what I mean is that the Tactical Command Network only has a limited amount of bandwidth, and we don't want to blow it all at once. Hopefully you'll enjoy this movie, which can be found here. Just one more thing, I would like to remind everybody that the second official UFO: Aftermath chat is being held today, in about nine hours. Every who is able to, please join in, it will be worth your while. For more information regarding the chat, check out the official chat information page.
  5. I've updates the movie page, and added a normal link. Should work now.
  6. I'll try to whip up a nice logo for you. I've been getting a hell of alot of quality work done with photoshop. I've especially been reading up on weathered metal tutorials. I just have to try to learn how to make textures.
  7. The time has come for another UFO: Aftermath official chat. It was a great success last time, and it can only go better this time. The chat will be held on Feburary 19th, from 19:00 - 21:00. Jiri Rydl and Robert Hoffmann from ALTAR Interactive will be there, as well as Ondrej Laba of Cenega Publishing. For more information, you can find it on the official UFO: Aftermath Chat information page. Many thanks to Olav, who is the brains behind the chat.
  8. It should work, especially with modern games. If you use windows, all you have to do is change the regional settings. This is how I got around some of the Australian censorship on GTA3, the rapscallion that I am
  9. Been a bit since the last update. From now on updates will be occuring at a more constant rate. First we had Creature of the Week, now we have Soldier of the Week. As the title suggests, we will get a glimpse at the stars of the game. Interview and preview wise, there is preview at Video Game News, and an interview at Gameplanet about why Cenega publishing chose UFO: Aftermath. Remember that you can find all interviews and previews at the interviews section of ufoaftermath.co.uk, where we have copies of all interviews conducted on UFO:A. Magazine wise, UFO: Aftermath features in the current issue of Giochi Per Il Mio Computer, Micromania, and PCgameplay. If anyone has copies of these articles, if you could scan and send them to me, it would be greatly appreciated, and as a thank you, you will receive an exclusive forum member title. As I said before, the interviews page is nicely taking shape. It should be fully completed in roughly an hour or two. The interviews page consists of transcripts of all interviews, previews, and articles conducted on UFO: Aftermath. We also have copies of articles in languages other than english, and if anyone fluent in Russian, Croatian, and Czeck/Slovak, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone who helped out at ToTheGame.com with voting for UFO:Aftermath. We reached number one shot, but have now slipped to number two. If everyone could just put in a vote of 10, it should help us to retain the number one position. Remember, you can vote once every four days. Talking about voting, IGN has a top ten list of games. Currently UFO: Aftermath is not on the list, but if you could add UFO:A to your most wanted list, we should get on top of another list. UFO: Aftermath has been voted as one of the most Anticipated games at Bjorn3d.com. Nice to see UFO: Aftermath being appreciated. 10. Hmm, I've got the same version of UFO. If I remember correctly, is Unknown misspelt? I don't have UFO loaded on my XP machine, but I need my X-COM fix, so I'll try to get it going tonight, and see if it works. If it doesn't, I'll post the error, and/or possible fix here.
  11. ToTheGame.com have a poll up, and UFO:A needs some votes to get into the limelight, which means it needs at least 50 votes a day. I'd like to thank Mazdek for posting the news about the Development Diary. Some updates on the site have been taking place over the past week or two. One of them is the interview page is being revamped. Should be finished in a few days. Now for the fun part of the post, check out an interview at 2 dark Park, or at least the first half Links ToTheGame.com UFO:A Interview with a Difference
  12. At the moment there isn't a hell of alot of new news on the UFO: Aftermath front. I'll see if I still have a copy of the Bonusweb movie. If I do, or if I can find a copy, I'll upload it here. I've been updating the site. If you go to the interviews page, you'll see a change there. I also have to upload the new development diary. There is also some other upcoming news, although I'll have to keep you in suspense.

While most of us have known about this site for quite some time, only now can it really be spoken of. Well boys and girls, there's a beaut X-COM site, well worth a visit, xcomufo.com. The site couldn't really be promoted before due to some of its not so legal content. Now that the content is down, I'd like to encourage everyone to visit xcomufo.com. The site is chock full of infomation on X-COM, though mainly UFO: Defence. You can also get a stack of support for the first three X-COM's. Also worth looking at while you're visiting is X-COM: Xenocide. This is a fan based remake of X-COM 1 and 2. While at the moment only the geoscape has been created, although it looks like the game is shaping up well. A beta of the geoscape is available for download. Two thumbs up to Micah, with a great site - xcomufo.com
  15. Talking about Indiana Jones in 3D, it is in development at the moment - Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb. I think developers should be careful with deadlines, but I think that setting them a bit further wouldn't hurt. I mean, almost every game I have seen this year has been delayed. Vice City was delayed, Simcity 4 is delayed, and the list goes on. I think that one problem that UFO:A faces is that it will no doubt always be compared to X-COM. This is due to the fact that the first X-COM was UFO: Enemy Unknown. When people see this, they assume that UFO:A is a sequel to UFO:EU. I hope that when people go out and play UFO:A that judge it on its own merits, and not comparing it to X-COM.
  16. I think it would be best to cut some ALTAR some slack. UFO:A is ALTAR's biggest project to date, which is made even more difficult due to the fact that they are a relatively small developer. You also have to take notice of that up to this point, ALTAR had no publisher for this game. This meant that ALTAR was creating UFO:A with the possible conclusion that it would never be released. ALTAR is doing a great job in my opinion. I have the admit that I don't like this latest trend in the gaming industry of increasing deadlines, but there's nothing we can do.
  17. G'day Blade, Happy to see that this all worked out Bet you'll be fine.
  18. Quote Tactical Command Network Formed... - posted by Pete I'm pleased to announce that the all-new Tactical Command Network has just been formed. I'll explain what this means all in good time... As most of you know, my entrance onto the internet scene started with this very site, which I created about two years ago now to answer all those annoying questions that I had and couldn't get answers for, and to generally get as much X-COM info as possible in one place. True, this is still a work in progress, but it soon became clear that there were other games that I might want to focus on as well. The next game that I built a site for was UFOAftemath.co.uk, which I started construction on back in the early days when ALTAR Interactive were merely months into the game's production. This site is now run by Ooda - an all round nice guy and hard worker who's been on the X-COM scene longer than I have. But why stop there? Well, a lot of you have mentioned that I've missed another great tactical game of recent months - one from the very creators of X-COM themselves - Laser Squad Nemesis. Did I overlook it? Well, not really. After discussions with Blade - the webmaster of LaserSquad.co.uk, a decision was made to move the entire site over onto the same server as my other two sites. The aim of this is to keep as much information on these fine games in one place, with links at the top of each page so that visitors can easily jump between sites and all three webmasters - myself, Ooda and Blade - can benefit from each other's visitors. A facelift will be taking place at LaserSquad.co.uk over the next few months to make it look a little more like the other two sites, early designs of which Blade is quite happy with. So what's the network thingy? Well... in my mind, when you get three or more sites linked together like this, it's called a network. And why the "Tactical Command Network"? Well that's because this first site you're viewing right here is called X-COM Tactical Command, so it made sense Have fun and keep your eyes peeled for new updates to the sites! As can be seen by the message above, the Tactical Command Network has been formed. The Tactical Command Network consists of X-COM Tactical Command, UfoAftermath.co.uk, and LaserSquad.co.uk. Welcome to Blade and LaserSquad.co.uk.
  19. Well, it's a great day for UFO: Aftermath, and ALTAR Interactive. ALTAR Interactive has signed a publishing deal for UFO: Aftermath. "ALTAR Interactive is pleased to announce that the publisher and worldwide distributor of our upcoming strategy game, UFO: Aftermath, will be Cenega Publishing, publisher of Knights of the Cross, Another War and the upcoming title Shades: Wrath of Angels and Korea: Forgotten Conflict. UFO: Aftermath is currently scheduled for release in Q2/Q3 2003." This is from a quote from a message received from Petr Bulir and Jiri Rydl. This is great news for UFO: Aftermath, as now the speculation of finding ALTAR finding a publisher is over. Congratulations to ALTAR on finding a publisher, and well done to Cenega Publishing for signing UFO: Aftermath up. Related to the publishing and distribution deal, I have uploaded the official press release for UFO: Aftermath. Included is five new screenshots. Gamespot have conducted a new Q&A with ALTAR Interactive. This is some great publicity for UFO: Aftermath, though it is also a good read. Actually, this Q&A is a damn good read, with some great new screenshots. Highly recommended. As if this wasn't enough, we have a new creature of the week. This one seems to be a disfigured human. Gets one thinking, what the hell are the ALTAR artists on? In relation with ufoaftermath.co.uk, expect some updates very soon. As stated previously, I have uploaded the Press Release, and I have also uploaded the latest Development Diary. Over the next week, I plan to have the gallery updated with all the current shots of the game. Over the next day or two, I'll be uploading a new press section, which will include copies of all, or at least most of the interviews, previews, and Q&A's conducted on UFO: Aftermath. Overtime, this will include translations of things which are in a foreign language. I've also got some other updates planned, but I won't reveal all my secrets. 20. This I could see happening. The GBA has pixelised graphics, and looking at X-COM: EU, the graphics would be suited for the GBA platform. The controls would take a bit of getting use to, but I don't think anyone would complain. Plus, don't forget multiplayer support.
  21. UFO: Aftermath Developer's Diary 6 is now up at Gamespy. This diary deals with mainly the dynamics of the game, namely shooting trajectory, and the many issues involved with its implementation. It's a good read, and one can see that UFO: Aftermath is indeed developing nicely. On another note, I uploaded the UFO: A Developer's Diary 5 today. Have a read of it if you already have not. You'll find it to your left. Another good luck goes out the ALTAR, and I sincerly hope you find a publisher soon. Links Gamespy UFO: Aftermath Developer's Diary 6
  22. Firstly, I'd like to apoligize for the lack of updates over the past week. Last Sunday I had a family emergency pop up, and just got back yesterday. First of all, it seems like we have a new Creature of the Week. I swear the game is looking better and better everyday. The graphics engine seems to be progressing very well, and with the new screenshots emerging, it seems that UFO: Aftermath will not be as bland as it was originally thought to be. There's an old Portugese UFO: Aftermath preview at UOL Jogos. Another one for the Portugese fans. HomeLan's second interview on UFO: Aftermath has emerged. This interview revolves around the story, gameplay, units, locations, and the graphics engine. This interview is good read. The ALTAR Interactive main page has been updated with a new flash promo. It features some sounds from the game, and the new UFO: Aftermath logo. Finally, starting today, I'll be bringing ufoaftermath.co.uk up to date. Today the latest Developer's Diary will be up, and over the next couple of day, I'll have all the interviews of UFO:A up, and overtime, with translations for those not in english. There will also be some other updates, but I'll keep them as a surprise. Links UOL Jugos UFO: Aftermath Preview HomeLan UFO: Interview ALTAR Interactive
  23. There's a great new fanpage, "UFO Bluebird", by Ian Cheong. It's worth checking out for some exclusive shots of the ALTAR team. Also, we have a new creature of the week. The pictures are great, as they show that UFO:A will have some colour in it. Judging from the pictures, especially the latest ones, the game seems to be progressing well. Links Project Bluebird
  24. The Developer's Diary Volume 5 is now up at gamespy. This one covers mostly the UFO:A chat a few weeks back, and talks quite a bit about the fans. It's a good read, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. UFO:Aftermath is in the current issue of PC Gamer, issue 116. It's an excellent interview, with many shots which are exclusive to the magazine, and some exclusive content. It's worth buying the magazine just for this interview. Also, the interview features on pages 6 and 7, so looks like even the press is eagerly awaiting the game. Once again, good luck ALTAR on finding a US publisher, and good luck to the ALTAR team. 25. Welcome to the boards mate From what I've gathered is that you will set your turns out when the game is paused, and then they will be executed at the same time. This will be similar to Laser Squad Nemesis' turn-based system.
