All the images you'll ever need I didnt take as many as i should have seeing as i picked up something tropical and it still has me bed ridden.

I was in the cook islands for my brothers wedding. It had it all. Flax clad islanders, Triple story white washed houses, Cocunut trees and Tiny Hill side DEATH TRAPS. Even the color pallet was right. It's very easy to imagine Dayglow yellow clad guys getting horribly murdered.

Well I've just spent the week in the islands and I tell you the first thing I thought when I saw them was. Whomever designed the island terror missions must have been there himself. I even found that stupid little hillside they like to hid in.

What I've been away for a week and no story love.

Its not that bad. It's more like someone who has an allergy and a nest of these Bad day on the midway Though I'd just take it slower than usual always have snap shot available every turn teams of three and a base dedicated to manufacturing Guass ammo round the clock for the rest of the game. Oh and a Jimmy every successful team needs a Jimmy.

It's not a glitch/bug its feature I tell you. Just to remind you the aliens know better. Just like the reseach tree. They purposely lie to us to wreck our technology. We're just too stupid to figure out when somethng just wont work.

So one alien wiped me out today and mostly it was my own fault. I had lined up to assualt a house during a terror mission when I got shelled for three consecutive turns whithout being able to find out where form. After reloading an older save I discovered it was a grenadier that could only be seen when kneeling. And since all my guys were watching the wrong direction he snuck behind me and wrecked havoc. See its things like that which make me remember why I love xcom. Features that keep you on your toes when you feel your in chanrge

You could actually just have a copy that used some of the other editing programs around. If thats true you're going to run into all sorts of issues if they didnt do it properly. I'd say go for a clean copy and edit it yourself then you know what is going on.

Take screen shots and write it out as a story. So each mission is written from the view point of the squad. ala Like This Jimmy's on the list

I can testify that if would be nightmare but it is something you can do. Lobstermen will be an issue. If you do go human tech only get a tank and also make sure that all your guys are spread out but in pairs that walk 2 squares apart. Also spend the the first turn before even leaving the sub priming two grens and putting one in your backpack. Don't play on anything beyond Veteran but even that will most likley end in failure.

That really is a nice summation. Specially if you look at most of the names.

You forgot Hide and Seek some of those guys just don't know when the game isn't fun anymore. Ahh it's a mark of a great game that it can include so many of the great games from child hood. I'd llike to see WoW do that. Also why is it my booys will jump off three story high containers but when I want them to jump across the gap between them they outright refuse everytime. I'm not complaining mind you the scuicide dive has saved many a man from certain grusome death.

Brillaint. Drum roll please. You know how they Cockroaches will survive a nucklear blast. Well on veteran a they will survive two sonic pulsars and a magna blast. And comeon it's not fair that they get to shoot back. Thats not how the game is played.

See now if I was incharge I'd have taught our people how to throw rocks. Or loose bits of trash/ They cant be any less effective than those dart pistols. Though I have to admit that the new scroched earth policy is working well for me. Turns out my men are better at throwing than at shooting so now I just make sure there is a grenade hit on every square of the visible map. Then move forward rinse repeat. Sadly the cruise liner was less than impressed with this tactic and sent me a letter with naughty words in it. But hey I got rid of their infestation.

See just shows you those aliens really are advanced. They've taken their own weapons and made them even better. I mean DPL's with even better acc, less cost to use and weight. Where as here at X-com we figured out how to put dart gun ammo in our gauss pistols.

I didnt actually know about the seems in the back. That would explain some odd deaths i had over the years. And DPL reaaction shots do happen. And yeah I've found sonic cannons with DPL ammo which is always great fun. And the occasional Gauss pistol with dart ammo Though sadly this came in the front door during the middle of my tanks movement. __________ l........x........l l ................ l l ......._____ l A Excuse my terrible ASCII but thats where is hit after coming in the door from direction A. Though it has been pointed out to me that my cd may be on it's last legs and corrupting the installs. This is what happened I just found it funny since it was my first game in a long time.

I'm not so worried about the old copy right now. As I did some research last night and you might find this interesting to seeing as you to live in the land below down under. Right now the full package is only $12.75 as our currency is actually strognge than the US. Which is the whole reason I just booked my entire USA trip since I saved 20c for every US $ I had to pay. Doesn't pay to type when you have a two year old in your lap

Most from fresh installs and a couple from non patched versions. but hey it's lasted me almost 11 years so I really can't complain about the installs finally having seen its end. Plus it adds one hell of a challenge to the game. Though this could also explain how I'm seeing some of the weapons and aliens much earlier than I should. Probably more than just the research thats messed up. Just wish I had the cash to buy me the whole set. Stupid family deciding they want over seas weddings don't they know the Fiji and Tonga are prime Alien territory

What I was saying is Feb 1 2040 I do the terror mission. Brought home 1 stunnned (Live Deep One) and one Dead ( Three Grenades, One sonic pistol) corpse. My Storage showed one live and one dead. My research showed One Live Deep One no option to research the corpse. Knowing it was already a broken game I researched it. Instead of the normal aqua plastics it made MC-Lab available without me ever having researched the reader. I tried the patch it was no better. Researching Guass pistol made Sonic Oscillator available. I'm just going to have to accept the fact its something i'll have to buy. Being poor it's going to be far down the list. Thanks for the artical I actually know it by heart from years before but I have been playing with it open in the background since after 2 in game years had past and I couldnt research any of the advanced ships. Magnetic Navigation would not show in my list even though I had tonnes and tonnes at all three bases. I played through APOC about 5 times all with various challeges in mind after the first (NO Psi, NO reload, wipe out the Cult) It really just wasnt as hard as I felt it should be and didnt give me the same sense of achievment UFO and Terror did.

So I've now played 4 games through to dec and each one of them has had game break issues in the research tree. Not sure what is going on with my cd but its truly a shame. I play with no mods I finally decided it was definatly the cd since I reinstalled and after my first terror missionI hauled in a deep one corpse and and a stunned one. Only the live one showed up and when I researched it the MC LAB be came available. It worked let tme build it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I fix this. I'd really rather not shell out $30 to buy 5 games I own to make one playable. Apoc, Intercepter really only worth playing through once. I really didnt enjoy enforcer. UfO works fine.

Yeah some days t's just great things cant go wrong. Have to say though x-com is the only game where I really felt my squaddies were actually in danger. And you really felt llike you achieved somehting at times.

DPL since it was part way through the first move of my turn. Grenade also just wont have the right trajectory since it hit near tha back wall. It may just be uncommon but I found another player that saw DPLs in the first month on a different forum. and there is an LP somewhere on the web ( I lost the address which sux since it was a great piece of writing) which had Aquatoid with one in late Jan/early Feb. They were playing in veteran mode as well. Cost them 8 of their 10 Men. I mean TFTD was never that stable specially v1.0 when it came to doing things the way it's suppose to.

From my previous thread we already knew when it came to MC Jimmy was a sitting duck but after the labs came online we found out he was min in both stats. This would usually get him turfed from the team but so far this Jimmy has been the only reason X-com has survived this long. In my first base defense he was MCed first try and walked off into the dark. When told to shoot his team mates he promptly put his poor acc to use by shoot both Aliens in the back of the head. He has taken many a shot to the face and so far has spent zero time in the med bay. This guy knows how to dodge bullets. Neo is a chump. His favorite game is having the team throw live primed pulsars at him so on turn 2 he can go screaming into the darkness armed with 7 live pulsars. When I finally got round to assualting the alien base thats been plaugeing me since feb (Its now Aug) I DPLed an entrance and Jimmy was sent off to Blow everything up/Scout the area. As usaul he got MC'ed and wandered off into the base. When I drove my weapons platform over to find him he promplty tossed his two pulsars in seperate directions effectivly clearing the lif room. On decent to the second floor Jimmy was once again immediatly marched off into the darkness. When we regained control he was standing on the objective. Two pulsars and an immediate MC later with a march to safety it was over. ( they though it best Jimmy should take on my tank empty handed it seems) This was the strangest thing I have seen in my life. He has gotten more enemy kills while MC'ed that he ever did while I controlled him. As an addendum On Dec 3 at 19:31 hours Jimmy took a DPL to the chest point blank and died. What followed was devastation on a massive scale when first the DPL exploded and was then followed by 7 live pulsars. Little was found to remind us of Jimmy and his as yet unidentified attacker. So tell me who was your favorite Agent of all time.
