  1. Exactly! I can't wait to see how will this fare! If it's another great tactical game like Frozen Synapse I'm sold After so many years of almost no tactical squad based games this year is filled with them
  2. An excellent and intense game! Here are things from my point of view: 1st turn: I didn't want to move my top left MG because I thought he would die if anyone of Space's MGs in that area moved behind cover. My best shot with that MG would be if he didn't move but aimed so I tried to open up his line of sight by firing a rocket. Only real threat Space had with his Rocket guy was firing at my MG at the bottom so I tried to move away from the wall and aim at the Rocket guy in hope of shooting him while also avoiding the sight of his MG nearby. I moved my 3rd MG around to get a good position from which to cover the map. 2nd turn: I continued clearing the house in the upper left but unfortunately my bottom MG didn't have enough time to kill the Rocket guy and my 3rd MG was too late to save him from dying. Very nice play from Space when he opened up the line of sight to get my bottom MG. 3rd and 4th turn: I wasn't sure if his bottom MG would make it so I opened up the bottom building with a rocket and moved my MG in position crouching so that Space's MG wouldn't be able to shoot him from the left but I would still get a nice cover of the bottom area. 5th turn: I hoped my MG on the top left would get sooner in position, unfortunately Space's MG was already behind cover and took mine out. 6th turn: I knew that Space would set his MG on the window so I tried to lure his fire with my MG standing up and ducking back down. At the same time I fired off a rocket to that window, but unfortunately I missed my calculations on ducking back by a second costing me my MG and the win. And the rest is basic Rocket 1v1... Very intense match! P.S. If anyone is up, hit me on Frozen Synapse any time you want
  3. No, they had voice over placeholders from the original JA2 but they said they are using new voice actors to do the voice over for Back in Action. Even the portraits will be new. I'm still on the fence with this game. It doesn't look like the Jagged Alliance I love but then again, there are almost no games featuring squad tactics. I'll buy it if it turns out good (counting on you folks to make a good review ), but so far looks like a no buy from me.
  4. Battle system is similiar to Frozen Synapse's but without turns. Elementary it is a real time system with pause (like Baldur's Gate, Desperados, Commandos etc.) but with a lot more options of ordering squad members thus actually requiring you to pause the game.
  5. Oh, I thought I don't have to mention XCOM since this is a thread about it. So yeah, the last part where I mention Xenonauts is what concerns Xenonauts (that's why I mentioned it) and the first part concerns XCOM:EU. Don't worry about good ol' UFO: EU, everyone who knows me will tell you it is my favourite game and how annoying can I be with nitpicking of any spiritual successor or with raging because of XCOM (shooter)
  6. If by comparing you mean stating which of the two X-Com like games is more appealing to oneself, then yes I am comparing the two. I stated my impressions on both games just on the basis of what I see when I look at the available media. I can't give proper judgement on either of them since I haven't played Xenonauts and there is no solid information on XCOM:EU. Ofcourse not to mention, both games are far from finished. P. S. Xenonauts' combat isn't a straight copy of UFO's (based on available information)
  7. In my honest opinion this looks utterly horrible! Only good thing I can see in this would be the speculated hex grid and I really like hexes in board game styled games. I won't dismiss the game on just the first look of it but my expectations aren't as high as they used to be. On the other hand Xenonauts is looking better with each day of development.
  8. If someone hasn't seen this already: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/arc...loves-xcom.aspx They managed to put a smile on my face and make me relive those exciting and tense moments of UFO:Enemy Unknown. I guess I should give the game one more spin!
  9. What a wonderful way to start a new year. One of my 2 favourite games is actually in a position of getting an excellent sequel (the other favourite game being Prince of Persia '89)!
  10. Ha ha. I liked all the protips the most!
  11. Finished the game. End level was horrible though ending itself wasn't so bad. Credits and post credits were awesome! Unfortunately the game getting such good reviews and being the best thing in last couple of years only tells me how shallow, simple and constrained games have become. Human Revolution doesn't even come close to original Deus Ex's depth and gameplay quality. Just a warning, that is my opinion and feel free to disagree. My main gripe with the game is horrible level design. Where in original Deus Ex levels felt natural, made like real locations gives to the player to play and explore, here in Human Revolution levels feel like artificial corridors with clear division between paths for character types - completely ruins gameplay and any potential replayability for me. I guess I should replay Deus Ex once more to get an enjoyable experience, might aswell visit the Vampire the Masquarade: Bloodlines along the way.
  12. Well, I'm more empirically oriented so I don't really believe those are extreterrestrial beings but neither can I firmly say they don't exist and those aren't them. Has anyone played The Moment of Silence? That was a nice cyberpunk pointy clicky adventure game. Had some amazing dialogues overall and there was a motif of being watched by UFOs. Anyways, I'm open minded to everything (I guess that is the spirit of youth) but only a public contact can persuade me to think those are ETs... Unless the goverment is in contact with them secretly... But I'm going on my conspiracy tangets here and who doesn't love some conspiracy theorizing
  13. Although I prefer turn based combat for this kind of title and although Back in Action probably won't be as good as original I still think it looks good and worth playing. The interface looks good and it looks like it will be easy to give complex commands to your mercs.
  14. It seems there is a bug. I also added you 2 times and I still don't get you on friends list. Well we both started a week ago. I guess some insight from a cousin in the army pays of in tactical games And especially UFO games! Good game! Hit me up whenever you are up for a game.
  15. You can check out my YouTube channel: 7h30n Yeah, very imaginative name I have Frozen Synapse and Street Fighter 4 matches uploaded. P. S. 2 more days to hold out without FS. I'll be home Sunday evening.
  16. To break your combo posting: Yes, this game is amazing! Definitely a Breeze of fresh air in gaming industry. I'm currently on vacation and posting via mobile network but when I get back next week we can play. P.S. I think you can guess my nick in FS, and I'm also on UK1
  17. I certainly hope it will recapture that spirit. I've been playing UFO:ET Gold again. Although Bman's mods did improve the game a lot I still can't get into it as with UFO:Enemy Unknown. I don't want to even mention other UFO attempts. I really don't know how Gollop did it but there is certaing atmosphere and tension to old UFO that keeps me interested. I feel that dark and sinister atmosphere that keeps me going.
  18. These are and were my first thoughts: http://spoonyexperiment.com/2011/06/16/e3-2011-xcom/ Spoony nailed how I feel. My favourite game and series of all time is butchered.
  19. I'm 7h30n in Frozen Synapse so whoever want's to play add me. I'm usually on UK1 server. We have really strayed off topic
  20. No I haven't. It must have flew past my field of view. I'm gonna scout it out. Anyways, I got the Frozen Synapse. It's really good! I love how simple planning can turn out into intense matches
  21. Actually looks pretty good. Unfortunately I really want to play anything with squade based tactics soooo desperately! Anyone wants to share Frozen Synapse with me?!
  22. Why do I have a feeling this game will fail. I hope it will be atleast as good as latest Desperados title
  23. German demo is out, English comes next week. Download links: Download @ Globalgameport Download @ Worthplaying Download @ ePrison Download @ Gamestar Download @ 4players

    The Lure

Anyone else super excited?! Release date is near, just 2 weeks left! (though it says 4th Feb on official site, the game unlocks on Steam 10th Feb) Until then, I'm shortening my time with What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord series on PSP. (For those who don't know what's it about -> Pretty much a Nintendo Hard Dungeon Keeper on PSP, latest title is No Heroes Allowed - cca 10$ PSP Mini)
  25. Couple hours ago I managed to beat that mission. Hurray! It took me quite a lot of tries considering previous missions and my exp with turn-based tactical games. I haven't really grinded, but for that mission I decided to replay previous ones just to get my classes upgraded (Avan -> Sniper, Anisette -> Gunner, Noel -> Mortar). And basically only useful upgrade in that mission was having a sniper. April time I really like the chemistry between squad members. Various potential triggers etc. That would be awesome in an x-com game. Players would connect even more to squad members that survive being a rookie (in x-com). Unfortunately I feel like I'm using 10 characters out of many more...
