Green glowing pods
I think Hobbes hit the nail on the head. They appear to be some sort of thing you fire from a ship that then attempts to ensare any nearby victims(or just nearby humans) in the green goo stuff. At that point(and ideally the point XCOM shows up) the Aliens arrive to pick up their now neatly packaged experiment-subjects and haul them off.

Interface gets stuck
I have yet to run into this one BB. But a point of note: I almost always use hotkeys for all my unit actions.

I'm back!
I think it went like "I'll fix yer computer if you let me keep mine!" Or something. Several! This one even had an old shotgun standing up in the corner... All the grandparents got a kick out of that one. How did y--NO I DIDN'T YOU LIAR! D: Thanks! Who uses ropes?! I'm pretty sure this a chain! Yeah I know. Oh well, totally worth it! Pffft. I use pocket knives! ./joking I had to work hard to keep from playing that song as the lovely lady walked down the aisle. Oh well! Thanks!

Hi! Sorry I've been mostly MIA. Been busy and without internet. Here's why! Yeah, managed to get myself hitched recently. ^.^ Also didn't get internet hooked up till today, my baaad. Been occupied! Anyhow I'm not dead! Will still be heavily distracted for awhile, but I can at least start annoying people here again! (YES SLICENCER, CIV 5 STUFF IS ON MY LIST I PROMISE)

Other gaming news
I just want a game with that floating city setting and the ability to bust through any part of the damn place that I want. Gang of thugs got the entrance to that room trapped? Slip out a window, scale the side of the building, and smash in through another window(and hope they didn't trap that one). Things going too good? Watch out for the friends of the last gang you murdered busting in through the ceiling at random; or god forbid crashing a small flying machine through the FLOOR BENEATH YOU ARGH. Can't push through the mob of clockwork monstroities to kill the factory making the mob? Sever the corridors connecting the factory to the rest of the place and leave 'em floating about. Just be sure to finish it eventually before they fix the place into a flying fortress... IS ALL THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?! D:

England Vs The World; Take Two! - Civilization V AAR
Aye, I saw. Haven't double-checked my savegame yet, but I'm pretty sure it should be fine(THIS time). Went over the changes several times as well, and I don't really see anything that should impact my game much, thankfully(course I've also been scatterbrain'd as hell lately so I'd be surprised if I didn't miss SOMETHING).

Heavies. Why?
Gotta disagree with ya, I love my heavy; but not for rockets(btw, My rockets are hitting that 90% chance pretty nicely, don't know what you're talking about). Bullet Swarm vs Holo-target is always a hard choice. Sure, the Heavies tend to have horrible long-to-mid range accuracy, but being able to shoot then supress in the same round is pretty nice. Personally I prefer Holo-target since it works even if you miss the target; but to each their own. Regardless of those options, Supression is the way to go for a single heavy. Shredder is nice, but only if you've got a second heavy to take the supression line. Why? Holo target, for starters, works with supression. Anything supressed(short of beserkers) will generally be smart enough to not try to move, and the -30 aim is pretty nice. Also, the supression effect is never dodgeable or misses or anything. You decide to supress someone, they're supressed, end of story. Heat ammo is pretty cool, though I tend to use rapid reaction more than heat simply because I prefer more chances to shoot things. Either one of these will work okay. However, Captain rank's Danger Zone is the pay off point. Suddenly your Supression is affecting +2 tiles, which can usually end up covering at least two different aliens. That's two aliens with the -30 penalty to Aim. Keep cracking to Mayhem at Colonel level, and suddenly you've got the capstone. See, Mayhem adds 'bonus damage' to rockets /and supression/. This bonus damage stacks with the AoE effect of Danger zone, and Holotarget's bonus. This bonus damage isn't too much, but the damage does the same thign the actual supress effect does: It NEVER. EVER. MISSES. Combine Heat Ammo with a laser or plasma gun and supress a Cybersdisk when its little Drones are nearby it?Bam, the drones are dead. Yes, Supports can use the basic supression(which I abuse so badly), but they don't get the +bonus to-hit for everyone else, or the expanded AoE for supression, OR the unavoidable damage of Mayhem. This should all be read knowing that my preferred team is one Heavy, one Sniper, two Assaults, and two Supports. So I tend to buck the trend around here, apparently.

So I have suddenly lost my ability to customize my soliders. As if I suddenly don't have the DLC. The DLC that was just released... Goddamnit Steam, why must you screw this up.

The poll for this is a little unfair, in retrospect, though I was honestly surprised at how many have voted for the Equalizer option, what with all the complaints I've been seeing lately. Still, my early impression seems to have held true thus far: This game is astounding, and is as close to a remake as we'll ever get; but it is still a different game. If you go into this game expecting X-COM: Enemy Unknown/UFO Defense circa 1990/whateveritactually was; You WILL be disapointed. However it is definatly X-COM, no doubt about it.

On Classic and Below(maybe Impossible), whatever continet you place your Base on will automagically give you the continet's bonus. Personally I've gotten a lot of use out of South America, but whatever goats your float I suppose.

Random Missile Trajectories
None of my misfires have been 'completely different directions' thus far; but I've noticed they seem to be designed such that you get zero of your orginal(probable) intended benifit. Have you guys been aiming /at/ units, or /near/ units? ./curious

So a package came in the mail today.

So a package came in the mail today.
I have, currently in my hand, an item still sealed behind it's plastic guard. This item is some shape I don't know(pentagonal? Whatever), and has the words "Vigilo Confido" on it. I do not, however, have the proper words to express my admiration to Pete and Slaugher for this. I was most certaintly not expecting the SPECIAL edition. O.O ....Thanks guys. (Goes off to squeal like a little fangirl)

Assault troops with shotguns and rapid fire are fantastic. I've had more kills with those than my supports and heavy combined. Use the assult troops in skeleton/ghost armor and run up the sides. When you wake up groups, they'll either move farther back from you(non threat) or towards the middle of themap where your sniper and co can rip 'em up.
