Thank you for the confidence Hobbes, but I have no urge to clear out bots all day =D. What is needed is a new (more secure) version of the MediaWiki software and/or some to our wiki unique questions upon registration.
-
There has been a substantial increase in spam from bots on the ufopaedia wiki lately, Hobbes is doing a great work of keeping them at bey but.... it might be time to take a new look on the security and the version state of the wiki? //Kokkan - Heniv

Bump, any admin alive?
-
This is a copy if a message I sent to Pete, I'm posting it here too. I was kinda wondering if we could get Extention:ParserFunctions on the UFOpaedia.org wiki? http://www.mediawiki...ParserFunctions They are very useful. Best regards //Kokkan

It's not a stand alone game, it's a part of EU2012. I thought I read that there were 2 DLC incoming, so we could just add an "Expansion / DLC" sub-heading in the EU2012 Table and have one page for each.
-
It works just like the MedKit, you gain one more spell/ability. The game does not count Arch Throwers as a side-arm (unless you Mod it).

Thundercats HHoooooo!!!! =D Yes Pete, the site is much more responsive now. Personally I'm not interested in badges/privileges based on payment. If there is a problem with the funding, we could just run a drive on the UFOpaedia and site, with a simple PayPal donation (I don't think those cost as much as Kickstarter).
-
How is the server funded? Perhaps a "kickstarter" or similar community contribution program could help.
-
The server have been feeling a bit sluggish today, how are we coping with the increased traffic?

I have started to hang out in * irc://quakenet/UFOpaedia.org * irc://quakenet/XCOM If anyone wants to discuss anything with me directly, you can find me there. (I'm on GMT+1 times). //Kokkan

I'll get my Stun Rod ready.......... no wait.....!

No, we need not to change anything that is working. Just perhaps stop the practice to use Templates on pages where Tranclusion is sufficent (on new pages).
-
If I remember correctly. A template is a special page in a wiki that can take one or several variables/inputs. Lets say I have Template:Flag, and on another page i write {{Flag|sweden}} then the template will put a swedish flag on that page. More info: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Template My example: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Template:Flag You can include pages into other pages using something call transclusion (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Transclusion) without the need for a template.

__NOTITLE__ works fine. Thank you Pete. You can achive that with a __NOTITLE__ and a H1 (=Header=) combination. I however discourage it strongly since it will cause more confusion than good in my opinion.

Yes, I found that bug also. I will contineu to work on it for a while more. Unless any of you have anything against it I will update the Main Page once i'm sure everything works 100% (you can revet it if you don't like tha layout).

I have been working on a new Main Page (http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=User:Kokkan/Main_Page), with improved layout for XCOM News, Wiki News and Featured images/articles/info. If an admin or editor can approve of this design I will update the Main Page a.s.a.p. Also I am wondering if it would be possible to add an Extention to the wiki to hide the title heading. Like this: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:NoTitle More resources: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:FAQ#How_do_I_hide_the_main_page_title.3F

The Firaxis XCOM: Enemy Unknown (2012) section is on the way, Hobbes have made a good foundation and I am adding what I can to the site. There is some strage use of templates that I don't understand though (Template:EU_2012 follow the same standard) but I dont know why there isn't just normal page includes (:EU_2012) since no variables is used in the templates.

Yes, this seems to work. But you have to change difficulty in both profile and game files. \profile\profileinfo.txt - Contains all games. \profile\ [Game name] \profileinfo.txt - Specific game. #!TXT## CURRENT_PROFILE 0 PROFILE_INFOS 2 PROFILE_INFO NAME "TgBJAHMAcwBlAA==" DIR_NAME "NIsse" DIR_NAME_NUMBER 0 DIFFICULTY 0 SYSTEM_TIME 1251003798 LAST_MODIFIED 1251003832 END_OF_PROFILE_INFO PROFILE_INFO NAME "SwBvAGsAdQBlAGkA" DIR_NAME "Kokuei" DIR_NAME_NUMBER 0 DIFFICULTY 2 SYSTEM_TIME 1250153641 LAST_MODIFIED 1250977520 END_OF_PROFILE_INFO END_OF_PROFILE_INFOS 0 = I. Newbie 1 = II. Soldier 2 = III. Veteran 3 = IV. Super Hero

Yes, however i will try and verify this through ingame experience also. Combat mission should get alot harder at max difficulty. I will respond here when i have made sufficent testing.

Hmm..... After poking around in the file directory a while I found a file named: [Drive] :\UFO Aftershock\Profiles\ [Profile name] \profileinfo.txt PROFILE_INFO NAME "SwBvAGsAdQBlAGkA" DIR_NAME "Kokuei" DIR_NAME_NUMBER 0 DIFFICULTY 0 <------- SYSTEM_TIME 1250153641 LAST_MODIFIED 1250776831 END_OF_PROFILE_INFO Have anyone tried to change this? Perhaps it could work.

Do anyone know if there is a way to change the difficulty of a game after you have played for a while? Unfortunately I set the difficulty to Novice and find the game to easy to the point of boring. Right now I am up against cutists and wargots and they are quite easy to kill. Mutant missions is just plain boring. Do anyone know if there comes anymore missions than the standard:
