  1. Well, normally this happens when I have my scout hidden and acting as a foward observer. My snipers and squad support then lay down suppressive fire. So, even though the guy can't see the shooters, he can certainly hear them, and know he's getting shot at! Logic dictates that if you're taking bullets, it's time to find cover, or at least try to flank the position where you think the shots are coming from. Regarding which game?
  2. LOL I'm still working on ALFA: Antiterror. Now that seems like an in-depth, cool game. Unfortunately, the release date seems to be somewhat hazy. I'll defintiely give this a spin as soon as Silent Storm relinquishes its' hold upon me! LOL
  3. Well, I have Hammer and Sickle, just picked it up shortly after playing Night Watch (pretty disappointing - the movie was good though), and read up on some of the features. It certainly sounds promising. I'm playing the Axis side right now, and infiltrating the Swiss factory, yet nobody seems like they're willing to put up any resistance. I seem to remember the last time I played this game a couple years ago, I reached this point, and I nearly decimated the whole factory in some pretty fierce fighting. I've just not seen anything like that for the last few levels I have played on. Is it just that maybe I've become a more careful player, more experienced? Seems like something is up in my opinion. Will a corrupted save deactivate the AI, or maybe Game Jackal (creates a NoCD image on-the-fly)? Concerning LOS, no all I know is that I can see them, but am uncertain as to why they aren't firing or whether-or-not they have LOS to me. If they can't see me though, why do they just stand there in a hail of bullets for 10 turns in a row. Am I the only one experiencing this?
  4. Thanks for the heads up! I'll be looking for this in stores as soon as it's released. Have you tried the demo? Your impressions?
  5. Yeah, I have looked briefly, but I saw nothing about range modifications. I was hoping to have all characters (PC's and NPC's) have a longer firing range in the hopes of making it more difficult. Speaking of difficulty... why has the AI basically turned "off". When I first started the game, the AI was pretty active, ducking in and out of cover, advancing, and so forth. Now however, there seems to be very little activity with the AI. I hide alot, so I'm figuring it must be something to do with my hide ability. Even when I am visible to the enemy, sometimes they even refuse to fire! I see them flash red, but nothing. I'm not sure if they have a clear shot or not... but still. I am playing an unmodified game, with free camera controls, and have the NA version of the game v1.2. What gives? Any suggestions or clues as to why this is happening? A bug? If it is, is there any way around this? Thanks again!
  6. A few years back when I first fired up this game, I ended up playing with a couple mods, including a weapon range modification, and grenade throwing mod. Now however, I have forgotten the names of the mods. Anyone care to enlighten me? Overall, I would like to install the best and most compatible (with each other) mods available... Looking for a realistic experience, and increases the difficulty, while still retaining the sci-fi aspect! Also, I just ordered S2 Gold... what are the differences in mission perametres? I have noted that there are assassination and building intrusion missions. Anyone care to elaborate? Thanks a bunch!
  7. Ugh, give me CMAK any day. This Shock Force looks and plays like ass. To bad about that too, especially considering its' pedigree.
  8. Nice find! Thanks. Gonna give the demo a serious run again this time. The last time I checked it out it was only cursory and not too much time was spent with it. This "patched" demo should be interesting!
  9. Heh. Oh yes. If you haven't played Combat Mission - Afrika Korps (it basically condenses all the previous games into one great package) I suggest you get it! Pronto! It's a great game, and highly versitle. Just don't expect squad based gameplay, it's a little more broad than that. The first 3 games - Combat Mission, CM Barbarossa To Berlin, and CMAK are all WWII theatres. CMSF finally takes the engine (CMx2) into modern-day warfare. The CM Shock Force demo I tried, but like most of the Battlefront games, they get better over time with mods and skins and what-not. I'll wait a bit longer till they get the game figured out better. Again though, give the CMAK a spin, it's really good. If CMSF gets as much polish as that game, woowee... I'll be in my glory hunting down the Taliban/US troops. Oh BTW, anyone have a link to someone saying somewhere that the SS Engine is going to be used for the next Jagged Alliance game? I couldn't find anything anywhere... But I never looked beyond a cursory Google search. www.battlefront.com
  10. What's the deal with these? Seems like once a wound is dressed, there's no other worries associated with them? Am I right? Is it easier to get hurt or recieve criticals/bleeding of a dressed wound? Thanks in advance.
  11. Yeah, neither uses the engine, should have made that a little clearer. ALFA - Antiterror looks good. Grabbed the demo, gonna give it a try out. JA3 is using the SS engine? YESSS! Can't wait for that. Since we're on the topic of turn based games in the modern warfare genre, has anyone tried COmbat Mission Shock Force (the patched version)? Doesn't look too shabby either.
  12. Brigade E5 doesn't look or sound that great. That ALFA - Antiterror though looks promising. Are you certain that Brigade is running the S2 engine? Sure doesn't look like it.
  13. AWESOME! What happened there on the S2HQ? Everything just disappeared! Last time I fired up this game, S2HQ and the camera hacks and mods totally made the game! Nice to see a link back to it! Thanks!
