    PC problem!!

    Hi all. I've recently upgraded my PC, and it worked fine for about 1 week. then a strange thing happened...from then on, whenever i press the 'On' button, the PC whirs for about 2 second, then completely shutsdown for about 10 seconds, and the start back up again. It loads to a certain screen(before entering Windows) and says something like this "Defaults loaded, press F1 to continue, F10 to enter setup" Normally i press F1. Everything loads up fine, sometimes the sound is missing(the PC refuses to acknowledge the prescence of my soundcard even when i was playing a game just 2 hrs ago), but everytime the clock is set on Jan 1 2006 0:00:00 Please tell me whats the problem...i've done System check, virus check, reconnecting the power cable, switching the voltage box on/off, and this pc is only 1 month old!!
  4. Wow, this seems very promising! Bluebllod you're so unlucky to have to quit the UFO:AS, cos its not THAT bad when i played it...although recently i'm experiencing those Cultist/Wargot cutscenes most of them time as if i just ran into them fresh
  5. Isn't there a research option from basic weapons lab for ammo research? And, if you're low on ammo, try attacking those Cultist areas and pull out before your team member dies, thats a fast way to get common ammo without killing off half your team. AND you may be able to get some extra stuff, don't be afraid to attack them yellow bastards!

  7. awww crap...yeah when i was playing with the original version(no mods), the wargots go down rather easily with the normal rifles, and back then my troops are just newbies in their own professions( lvl troopers, rangers etc.) but now i've got weapons rebalance, and its such an ass to kill just a wargot...but i've noticed that laser weapons, though they don't do much damage, are able to stun wargots easily, while the conventional AP rounds are soaked up rather easily by the wargots...
  8. so...i just don't use them at all? then what can i use to kill those Wargot walkers? My best weapon against them is the Wargot plasma so far...the rest of the projectiles have armor piercing bullets but not that useful if i want to take the suit down quickly
  9. I re-joined the Aftershock community 3 weeks ago, but i don't recall seeing this thread! anyways love your armours, cos they actually DO a bit more than just adding resistance

Hi guys, still on those Wargot/Cultist missions, but i can't help noticing...my men have this uncanny ability to shoot their missiles/bazookas right in front of them....even when they have lvl1-2 training as trooper or gunman or both. Now i thought this is only a game problem with the grenades, now even missiles? How the hell am i supposed to take out those Wargot robots (weapons rebalanced) when my own lvl2 trooper fires his flaming missile 2 feet away from where the entire group is positioned, knocking 5 of them out( including himself), sustaining fire/heavy damage, and attracting the whole retine of perfectly aimed Wargot missiles/grenades/plasma... Is there anyway I can fix this? or do I just up their mechanical skills so at least they fire AWAY from the team and AT the intended direction?
  11. hmm...You should try using the HK33, or even M16 if you have them. Attach those accelerators, cos these guns have a longer range than AK, and yeah, longer range=better...!! And use those chokepoints! AI isn't that great in this game, so why not just lure those peeps into a small area with a single small entrance, then pepper the first one in with all guns blazing! that works quite well for me But when i first met those guys, most of my crew has the XM8 rifle(the best projectile rifle) with Stabilizers and Accelerators on, as well as the monster sniper rifle, Barrett...so ripped through the whole Wargot gang in no sweat! Of course, that all changed when i installed the Weapons Rebalance mod, hehe

    OMG you are so right....used to fight around 5-8 Reticulans/mutants, but now i'm fighting like...10-15? got careless a few times, especially with those muckstars and Reticulan rocketeers...but the hardest enemies would have to be the wargots, got 2 of my men killed when they invaded and one of them was a full commando! But what i liked about the mod is the realism bit, and now at least i see the effects of laser(on wargots)

    So which mods do you use? I've just installed and played with Weapons rebalance, and i love the new weapons, and i've got Alien Assault coming up, but i want to know a bit more about it, like...any hints on what type of 'new enemies' would i be facing?

Ohhh, now that clears stuff out a bit...but then, if the Martian colonists have such high technology(high enough for them to colonize an entire hostile environment AND kick alien butt), whatever happened to those who stayed on Earth after Aftermath? I thought a few went to live in Laputas, but those who stayed, shouldn't they have some of those tech too? And the Laputans, i dunno, but the developers made them look like complete idiots....i actually feel ashamed to cower behind friendly forces during those 'help eradicate enemies' missions cos my people lack armour and only have Reticulan lasers, while those friendlies have...full commando training and bazookas and stuff But yeah, it would be fun to see the terraformers being able to link up with the laputans, a new Human empire, possibly a completely new game which you command fleets! argggg!
  15. So, how does Afterlight joins with Aftershock and Aftermath? I haven't finished Aftershock yet, but am about to meet the wargots up and personal...but from those Afterlight screenshots, it doesn't look like they're a dispatch team sent by the Laputians after their success on Earth(if thats what really happened)...Can someone fill me into that?
  16. i) Vehicles are a must...at least a mounted turrent or something for base defence ii) exploding suicidal disillusioned colonists. Your team of soldiers are the ones who try and make mars habitable before de-frozing their cargo of human settlers...what if a few are de-frozen, deemed not for the job cos they simply went crazy, hows that! iii) turning system reworked....these are professional soldiers! they should do those cool SWAT turns without me telling them to and takes less than 0.2s to complete iv) move while shooting

    Hi, i've just started playing Aftershock again, and it took me about a year or so to stumble into the world of mods and plugins. My question is, what are most recommended mods around to make the game more varied and interesting? I'm very interested in the new skins, but how do i install them? (same goes for all other mods) And that plugin programme(i think its called Alpine), well it looks similar to the one Morrowind uses, but is it useful? thanks for the help!
