  1. I have exactly the same problem! Apoc wont install on my computer, but used a laptop and it works fine! Then....mouse problems! Funny thing is, apart from the geoscope (Where i just got used to using the arrow keys) the mouse worked fine. Then...I got back off holiday, and the mouse plays up in exactly the way you described! Tried re-installing Apoc, but no luck! The weird thing is that it worked before!!!

    Me again!

Hey guys, I really appreciate the help you gave me getting UFO to run fine, with DosBox of course! However, me being computer illiterate tried to get TFTD working as well but absolutely no luck! I know Im becoming a real pain in the ass for asking obvious X-com questions, but can someone give me a noobies guide of how to install TFTD and run it through DosBox. Here's what I did so far: I tried to run the game off the CD, but as with UFO, I couldnt get it working. So I did download a version (but to be fair, I did buy the game on CD, just wont work with XP!), but no luck with that version either. That's because when I download the game, it comes up already installed. It will "work" with windows, but will crash whenever I get an agent to go up or downstairs, and the scroll speed is incontrable, even when I alter the speed. I try to run it with DosBox, however, and the screen just goes black as soon as the info on the soundcard comes up! I'm really pulling my hair out with this one, I got UFO to work, but no luck with TFTD, can someone please help me?
  3. Thanks for your help guys, really appreciated again!
  4. Really? Well this makes me sound really dumb, but how do you do it? I feel such an idiot! Played x-com for ages and never realised it!
  5. Just wondering, because I completed the game twice on easy attacking 1 on 1,but some strategy guide has led me to believe that you can attack something such as a battleship with more than 1 interceptor/craft. Is this true?
  6. Hey I just edited this post because I finally got X-com working thankyou so much! It wouldnt work on DOSbox at first because I installed the version I had from a CD from the "Unknown terror" boxset I got about a decade ago. However, I downloaded an internet DOS version of the game and it works like a treat on DOSbox. Thank you so much guys! As for Apocalpyse, I gave up on it because it seems God doesnt want me to complete the game! I had it up and running on my laptop perfectly well, following all the instructions provided by a Wiki link for the apocalpyse article. However, I played all the game except the VERY last mission and then went on holiday. When I came back 3 weeks later, I found that apocalypse no longer runs smoothly, because the mouse and keys will no longer respond to my commands properly, for example excessively scrolling in one direction, being "sticky" or having the mouse keep disappearing and reappearing. Has anyone else had that problem? But thanks again for getting UFO to work for me guys, I've been trying for awhile and its seriously appreciated. I forgot just how awesome the original really is!
  7. Hey guys, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to see there's still an X-com board going and still X-com fans alive that remember the game except for me! However, Im having HUGE problems running any 3 of the X-com classics. Basically, I have the DOS versions of TFTD and Enemy Unknown, can anyone figure out how I can get these working on a computer where I have Windows XP? (Im fairly computer illiterate!) I tried installing them, and TFTD does theoretically works okay, but it keeps crashing as soon as I send my agents upstairs or an alien throws a bomb etc etc basically it crashes loads and isnt the same. UFO crashes as soon as I build a base! I tried to download the versions from Fileplanet but it wont lemme download them! It says that I have insufficient memory because I need EB, and I only have GB-What the hell is an EB in relation to gigbytes/megabytes etc? Apocalypse...I've given up on, so I'm just trying to get the first two games to work, preferably UFO! Please, please help me! Im practically tearing my hair out just so I can play the classic games again. Cheers guys Rob
