  1. ok i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and started up the patch link instead of the main game link and it works fine now, proper screen and sound, thx for the support now ive just gotta get used to it without a manual unless the download came with one
  2. lets put it this way if ur getting enough points to miss out a whole craft set then u should slow down a bit, crank down on the raids a bit, im not sure if its possible to get that many points in one go although if u raid the cults every minute i guess it might be possible but why would u raid em that much to start with, i think the quickest way u can work it is new craft sets each week, so scouts and probes first, 2nd week is transports and FAS, then possibly assult ships 3rd week, u get the idea, im not sure if its possible to skip craft sets but anyone willing to test it go right ahead, u shouldent worry too much about it as its never happened before as far as i know
  3. hah i cant think why so much, they are slow and easy targets and have a funny shape, though they do drop quite alot of aliens in buildings which early on can be tricky for ur agents, as for NFKs point about transports thats very true if u miss em then ur stuck for quite a while, then again they are easy to shoot down even with escorts they fall very quickly under heavy fire, bombers yeah they are quite nasty with that multi bomb launcher and bombers are nimble craft and can take the lumps, i c no one has mentioned the escort ufos but why would u they cant damage u at all, u can wipe em out with probes because all they do is freeze ur ship, anyways good views seems the view is the smaller ships and the middle point of the game, assult ships and fast attack ships, the later stage ones like bomber and motherships seem to be less of a problem then again u get the bigger ships by then and due to the size of the last 2 its nxt to impossible to miss, keep the post coming
  4. ok heres the topic, we all hate aliens and the craft they fly in but what craft do u hate the most out of the UFOs u see thats right all 10 of em which one do u hate the most and for what reason, this is not a poll per say but a way of seeing which UFO everyone hates and express ur views over this damn ships, overspawn is not included as its not a craft, aliens and buildings are in the other post this is for UFOs only, make ur views knowen and vent sum anger ill start with my vote for Fast attack ship as its so damn hard to hit and take down in early game as it moves like greased lightning and fires that damn medeum beam and can wipe bikes and hovercars easy, plus it packs decent armour to withstand most fire untill u get advanced weapons later in game
  5. ok as the topic says this will see what alien u consider the most irritating and the alien building misson u hate the most, this is not a poll per say but just a way to vent ur rage over these aliens and see how others feel about the aliens that always mess up the place, overspawn counts too even though u dont actually fight it per say, hate a particular alien, make ur views knowen, very irritateing alien building misson vent ur rage over it here, UFOs are not included here as thats in the other forum ok ill start alien: popper because its damn hard to stun em and they have the most irritating tendency to blow up behind ur back and wipe out ur soldier before x-com armour alien building: the farm (3rd one) because how many damn white boxes do u need to wipe out, damn loads it takes forever even with vortex mines and with aliens on ur bk ur a bit hard press sum times
  6. ok heres the situation, i downloaded the file planet version of TOTD after reading that 1 it was avaliable and 2 it was legal and 3 id just read about it and wanted a go, ok heres the problem, when i load it up the screen is full of black lines going side to side and it looks like there are 4 screens on the one screen, it is impossible to play it like this(its like the screen has be multiplyed 4 times and placed along side eachother with sum overlap and the black linnes on the screen) anyone have any ideas what going on, should i uninstall and try again or download it again or get a patch, give me a lead here heh thank u in advance and if u need apoc help u know where to find me
  7. ok building 2 as far as i can remember theres sum that go up well in the u shaped area plus 2 other places by alien spawning points, the top of sum pedistal thing, u take a lift to go up to em so eyes open for that, make sure u only target the ones that are exactly the same as the pic u get at the start (green with a yellow type orb at the top, u know what i mean) all others are not targets, oh and make sure u give urself plenty of time to move away beofre they blow, the go up in a lovly firey blast that covers a very wide radius, if u still get probs then ill get bk to u through this forum as the alien buildings i can remember well, well most of em, oh and a quick question do u need to kill all aliens after the building is classed as disabled? i do all the time but just wondered if i hd to each time (although with toxin c at this point its easy to clear em out)
  8. heh i always thought a group of 12 was enough, only when i got new bases is when that number went up, its rare i get up to 20 unless i get many bases, usually only end with 2, never need any more, one main base one manufacture base
  9. the more u run the more stamina u use and u eventually burn out and slow down like in real life, if u run too much u get tired and slow down, in anwser of a previous question running is good for retreating from a dangerous area to get a better position without sitting there fireing while u die slowly, also if u spot an alien but cant seem to hit him run in so ur guy does not fir and slow down before he gets in position, in walk mode when u see an alien ur guy will tend to stand his ground and fire rather than keep walking so running is good for re positioning in hot combat or evading a brainsucker in RT play, and yes flying does not burn stamina because ur not using ur legs to move so u dont get tired so u dont burn stamina, its a simple matter of how much action ur body is taking, flying is done by the pack so it has no physical strain on ur body (unless ur afriad of high places heh), running puts strain on ur body so will naturally ware u down
  10. heh u guys really go for num bers, i dont usually get more than about 20 unless its extreme curcumstances im very good with controling small numbes but still getting the job done with high success, general alien building missons i use bout 14 agents 2 6man groups and ive never lost yet, except maybe the dimenson gate generator but that gets megaspwans too heh, well with toxin type c one shot can kill most aliens if not 2 will kill all but larger forms like multi worm psymorph and megaspawn
  11. think about what it does and how much u hate getting hit by it without shields, now u just pass that on to any stupid force willing to attack u as long as its not aliens, they track their target like the missle launchers but have 3 rounds per pod but one shot is about enough to wipe a shieldless human but will tend to eat the equipment sum of the time but its also fun and damn hard to miss just dont hit ur one ppl in the cross fire or u will feel stupid, sure u cant build em fair enough but it does not stop u from stocking sum after alien conflicts then using the deadly weapons on the aliens friends

    so its as i thought, ur score does affect the speed of the game, thats why sum ppl take longer to get techs than others because sum of us score up quicker than others, ok this has cleared up a major fact ive been thinking about for ages thx a bunch now i have even more reason to raid those damn cults, more points = (i cant believe im saying this) greater prizes, although i finish the game too quickly to really ever use the alien teleporter so i dont getmuch out of it, only ever had it once

    interesting, u say the aliens still use brainsucker launchers at week 3, im about week 3 or 4 now and they use assult ships and disruptors and probably soon devistators, and in anwser of another question u need advanced workshop for large ship weapons and craft only, many components if not all of em can be made in standard workshop, usually each week sees new craft coming through the dimension gates untill the assult ships come then its a while before the large things come, oh and i would like to make a point of including the prison block in the base plans that was taken out of the origonal game, its much more suited to this type of game, just a thought u could learn little things from gang members like special jobs and unique little missons to thwart gang activitys, once i get an idea of when the personal sheilds and cloaks come about ill try to post it here, bomeroids are about the same time as disruptors and i would say vortex mines are the same as devistators probably sumthing like week 6 or 7 but uncomfirmed as of yet
  14. hmmm interesting little ploy, although i find that having a gang on hostile can be fun just raiding em every now and then, as for ase defence anyone use entropy pods yeah cant make em but store sum from alien conflicts and let sum lose on the gangs, its a great feeling not having to worry bout these being used on u and u get the satisfaction of blasting enemies with a supposidly alien only weapon, its a most useful weapon and gangs should be no match for x-com armour, but if u feel u must hit the gangs buildings destory the launch pads first then go crazy heh i know i have once or twice
  15. when it comes to makeing x-com brand goods, (notice i said x-com brand as if it was a company making goods) anything u make then sell u get a profit out of right down to the crappy module u get at the start to carry the aliens, everything u manufacture can be sold for increased price so u always have a steady and flowing supply of cash as for gov running out of cash as far as i know its based on a number of factors, damage to city buildings owned by gov, damage to transit system including tubes and roads, forking out cash to the local corporations excluding gangs although thats unconfirmed, x-com funding. all these take tolls on the govs funding and eventually if ur good at this game u will earn so much the gov will drain its limited supply of cash, perhaps its a built in limit to the game, after a time u have to become self suficent or run out of funding and fail the game, hmm theres sumthing to think about a sutle time limit
