  1. Evening. Well,while keeping my previous 'StarGhost trigger' post active I thought I may as well add to it with this very important subject,for me anyhow. It appears that the Cultist temple mission is very significant as far as the game progressing is concerned,however in my current game there is no temple mission available.What I need to know is this,when and how does the temple mission appear?and what needs to be done to ENSURE it appears?. Thanks.

I am at a loss here a bit.The WG mission I am referring to is the one where the "alien craft will arive in ** days".I assemble my squad,board the ship and take out the WGs.I understand that it is the Laputa that the WGs have assaulted?,and not the WG ship itself. Now I am just wondering if a date will trigger SOMETHING at least.I think its linked to the cult temple?,which isnt present in my game...yet. (sigh) Thanks Azrael. So,do I keep plodding on with the missions and hope a specific cult mission ensues?,as I have no access codes or anything like that...yet. Thanks again.

Look,can someone just tell me what game events occur and WHEN?!,I mean,the date is about May 5th in my current game,I did the FIRST Wargot mission days ago (AGAIN!) and still no SGs.I recently did the WG probe research,and WG culture ect.All I seem to be doing is playing countless missions and conducting the odd Cult invasion,taking care (pathetic game restriction) not to wipe their last base out like last time! All I need is reassurance that my game is still ok. Thanks.
  4. You should encounter the SGs on the very first WG mission?! the one where it says "battle stations" and all that crap?!,arghhh,all I fought against were WGs,as always! Damn Gringo,it seems that for some reason my game is f###ed then,how can this be?! I have no Warp weaponry Gringo,and have never had any...yet (if ever) I am at a loss now,I keep repelling WGs and Cultists in my new game,I have refrained from even looking at the Cultists in a provocative manner for fear of them being mardy arses when I kick their faggot asses again!. Maybe if I keep playing?,the trigger may come,like a specific date?. I have 3 WG research subjects lined up,Wg physiology,WG culture ect,but it says I need a live WG! *This is really making me think twice about getting UFOAL* Cheers anyhow o' crazy one.

Well,Ive been playing since about 9am this morning (I know i'm mad!) and I have just researched the WG ship probe,also,I cannot research WG culture ect yet as I need a live WG.Is this normal procedure?,I mean come on a LIVE WG?,damn,it's not like i'm going to ask that hulk of shit to come back to the pod for a quick cup of tea and a cake is it!. Someone try and tell me here if i'm gonna get that SG trigger! If I don't i'm finally through with the game!. I also remember in my very first game AGES ago there was a mission to assault a Cult temple,will it happen again?,and how do I ENSURE it happens?. Thanks for any help here,as I don't want to waste any more time.
  6. mm,not bad by the looks of it.Does sort of resemble the old X-COMs a bit,nice crisp graphics too. I will have to look at the vid later,bit busy on UFOAS tonight Cheers.

As some of you know I have had to start a fresh game due to my last game apparently missing the vital StarGhost trigger,which went on for days and days without the next stage of the game triggering.This was due to (I think) the Cultists not having a base to operate from,thus screwing my game up,bloody weird I know,and annoying. Anyway,I have just this minute blasted the WGs back whence they came (1st WG mission),and I am now wondering/worrying if my game is now on the right tracks for the SG trigger. I have 2 new research subjects now available,WG culture and WG physiology (like before ). I have refrained from going anywhere near the Cult this time...for now,and they are comfortably confined to the shithole in the East...again. I will upload the 2 images later,as Imageshack is having server trouble. I salute you!
  8. Afternoon. Just found 2 more bugs in the game (I could open my own exotic insects business here! ).Oh well,here we go. This particular shot shows me about to deploy on a capture mission,but guess what?,the target was already lying dead on the floor surrounded by a large blank gray area that was impassable!, abruptly ending my little incursion before I even tasted the foul air outside! This second one isnt too serious,but just shows you some of the graphical glitches that are sometimes present,some of them you probably wouldnt even notice,but being a perfectionist I tend to scrutinize every detail Other than that,no CTDs today ATTENTION! bloody Imageshack server is down AGAIN!,so I will upload the images later tonight if I can. (damn)

Yeah,its very unrealistic and annoying that the Cult can suddenly appear at WILL inside your fortress of territories and act like they are so "mighty" .The enemies are way too easy and predictable,I am really hoping the StarGhosts (if ever I meet them) live upto their...terrifying? description hehe.The developers I think would have made things better by making the Cult TRY and force their way past your frontier provinces instead,because you imagine,do you think the security forces guarding the border lands would let anyone in looking even SLIGHTLY out of place? take todays' mess for example with terrorists,guards and police are prepared to shoot someone for merely wearing a backpack! No way,totally unrealistic the Cultists!,they would be finished man,no funding,nothing!. I have heard something about XCOM-ET but dont know a lot of details,I might scour the net for some stuff As far as UFO-AL ? put it this way mate,if they f##k up next time I think they will be out of business.We pay good money and praise these guys only to be shit upon with a lice ridden disc! I will give them the benefit of the doubt next time *fingers crossed* .
  10. I have to agree with you on the graphical issue,there are games out there with far superior graphics and more complex content. For all the negatives of the game I still seem to like it,and iv'e had it since its release date.I think its down to being an ardent X-COM fan back in the 90's and the fact that I have'nt finished UFO yet and am eager to uncover new things,but with the army of bugs in this game I may be walking with a walking stick by the time that happens! Just to finish with,I didnt get the Starghost trigger in my last game,which was HIGHLY infuriating!,I apparently wiped the Cult out too early leaving them with no base.Odd isnt it?,one would have thought that wiping the Cult out early doors would have given the player a distinct tactical advantage

Well,guess I had better make a little contribution for tonights session.Even though my current game is no where near as far as my last game (due to certain BUGS ) I just HAD to take this hilarious shot which required impeccable timing! It must be linked to the profilesnfo folder,because even after rebooting the system the problem is still there.As far as the system itself everything is compatible because I built it myself hehe My graphics card is an ATI X800 by the way,with full settings (no problems before). I THINK the problem first started when I tried to change from 4 X AA to 6 X AA . I deleted the offending folder and UFO creates a new one anyway. Game is fine...for now. Cheers.
  14. Just found another bug *this is ridiculous now* This can happen totally out of the blue like it has just done for me. When beginning a new session of UFO sometimes the game may suddenly decide not to even get past the initialization screen,instead it will return with a pathetic "UFO has encountered a problem,would you like to send a report to...you know who".The screen also appears to go into safe mode with corrupted colours ect. This went on for about 30 mins,so,I decided to reinstall the f###ing game AGAIN while keeping my profile folder.I restarted the game and the same damn thing happened again!.I went into my main UFO folder and decided to take a pot shot and remove the old profilesnfo folder,and guess what,it worked. So,the profilesnfo folder sometimes seems to randomly become corrupt Is this what we deserve?!. I tell you what,this is SERIOUSLY testing my patience now!. I've said it before and i'll say it again,Altar had better do us justice next February! Goodnight.

I have just this minute experienced the very same bloody crash bug that affected my last session!,only this time it happened when I merely added a Psionic into one of my squads Whats going on with this game?,there seem to be more problems in it than there are positives,even though I STILL like the game (thats dedication for you). Having said that,it IS my only crash of the night,after about 12hrs playing. Anyhow,I agree with AT,we MUST pin this topic and aqquire as much info as possible on this very serious subject.
  16. Well,my NEW game has took ANOTHER plunge! I went into one of my squaddies' inventories to change a weapon,and the damn game froze and went back to Windows.I understand there is that famous Wargot spaceship bug,but this too?,man,this is getting BAD! I am daunted at the prospect of doing all the work again,to probably (hope not) not having the StarGhost trigger occur. We ought to name and shame all the insects to be found in this game,least that way we sort of prepare or avoid them,if possible. I have 1.2 version by the way.

Well,as some of you know I have started a new game (gulp),yet this time I am going to leave the Cult with one base (sore losers eh?) in a desperate attempt to unlock the latter stages of the game.What I need to know is this,is it possible to wipe the Cult out eventually?.   18. I agree Azrael,as much as it hurts I agree. The missions actually WERE starting to become tedious after a while.The research I thought was quite interesting in areas,however the autopsies were bland and not as detailed as I thought they should be. Yet,SOMETHING is keeping me playing,could it be from my childhood?,a seasoned veteran of X-COM which has to be my most beloved game of all time!,am I trying to relive those days? Something is keeping me going,I think its the inherant desire of all humans to explore,and to delve deeper into the unknown. I must build this spaceship and get up there!!
  19. Azrael. I did EVERYTHING,trust me.I was constantly checking the research tabs all the time,unavailable research,other tech/research ect...everything. No,I understand that I MAY have encountered this so called "game killing bug" that Ricardo mentioned a long time ago in one of his posts.The Cult had no bases left in my game as I wiped them out too quick,they were confined to 3 resource provinces in N.China,then all of a sudden they appeared right in the middle of my track networks. I encountered no StarGhosts either. This time I am going to be more selective with the Cult,and control them if I can,leaving them one base,in the middle of the bloody ocean preferably! Cheers.
  20. Cheers for the support Gringo,its good to know others are as pissed off as me.Really though,what do these companies actually think we are?do we DESERVE this level of incompetence?! Thats all I want to say regarding companies,as im sure there are hidden agendas even 'I' don't understand. I can't begin to tell you man how utterly upset and disappointed I am though,I had put SO much time and effort into my last game,about 3 bloody months!! Anyhow,take it easy Gringo,and keep the guns blazing!
  21. Well,I really don't know how to begin this topic,but lets start with the basics. After dedicating a lot of time and effort towards playing this game I have now come to the bitter conclusion that its all been a waste of time.I had got the Cult right down to their last 3 provinces,right in the corner of N.China where they could f###ing rot for all I care! I had done EVERYTHING right in my game,strategically I had played it sound,and in good spirits,then all of a sudden they appear right in the middle of my track network in central Europe and N.America,cutting off nearly all my supply.I had seen no signs of these Starghosts,had no research to conduct after completing it all,I EVEN rebuilt those damn labs to make sure I had done it all,another waste of bloody time!. I have no choice but to quit playing UFOAS before I tear out whats left of my hair. I understand others have encountered similar problems and I would like to chat with some of these individuals. On a final note,I hope to see some of you again next February,on what I hope to be better terms,and with a game that can finally be called "worth the money" I mean what else am I supposed to do?! keep playing this shit until I am shitting in my nappy due to old age?! no way man,I am going to start playing some other game/s for a while.I might even start playing return to Castle Wolfenstein again,which in MY opinion deserves the title "great game".As far as strategy and tactics go I think Silent Hunter III has to be up there with the best. Cenega and Altar had better deliver the goods next February,or there is going to be some VERY angry folk sending them foul emails!. See you next year! Having just scoured this forum for ANY advice on this SERIOUS flaw I learned that because the Cult had no bases left,only 4 resource provinces this was the problem,and didnt trigger the next phase of the game. Looks like I need to start again,only because I bloody LOVE this game really!! I AM CRAZY!!

I rebuilt the old labs,to no avail.I am seriously considering retiring from UFOAS as much as it pains me,however...I still need to take out those remaining 4 Cult provinces even though they UNREALISTICALLY reappear! (according to some members in here) This IS the final straw,if this does nothing then I have no option but to retire from this badly programmed game and hope they do us justice next February! Thanks to those who have tried to help me here.
  24. CG. I let the game run on for a while,here is what I found: Initial Date: Jun 17 , 2050 Current Date: Jul 17 , 2050 Result: F### All!. Prognosis: Decided to wipe out last 4 Cult territories.If this fails then... Future of my UFOAS box: As a f###ing beer mat! *I have been playing this damn game for months!!* Hmm...Interesting Troll. I DID actually cut back on some labs ages ago as nothing else was on offer.Hmm...thanks,I will rebuild those obsolete labs again. *fingers crossed!*

Nope,no SGs yet CG What i'm going to try is save my game as it is now,then forward the game on full speed and let time pass for about 1 month or even longer without accepting any missions.It won't matter if the Cult takes territories from me as it will be saved. By the way,What exactly triggers the SGs?,does a certain date trigger them?,or do you have to completely remove the Cult?. If however this IS a serious bug I personally think that its scandalous! Thanks anyhow mate.
